What do you do when you meet the one person that makes you feel alive, but at the same time kills you deep down inside? Would you stay or run away? For as long as Leia can remember, she had always felt different compared to everyone else. She remembers the exact day her life had changed for the worse — the day she shifted for the first time and lost control of her wolf, only to wake with her mother’s blood on her. Horrified, her own father sells her to another Pack. She had no idea in this Pack, she would meet somebody who could get deep inside her and look her darkness straight into its eyes. Alpha Viktor has only ever known death ever since he killed his own parents on his first shift. Known as the Dark Alpha, he was feared by everyone, making him lonely. Until her. But when Leia realizes she doesn’t like what the darkness in her does, she runs away from Viktor. Only to find out that it might be too late as she is pregnant with his heir. Will she ever be truly free or is she destined to live a fearful life with the Dark Alpha? What happens when she finds herself in another Pack and the Beta turns out to be her destined mate? Leia must decide whether or not she should choose the darkness or the light. Rated 18+ for explicit content (sexual, violent, and dark themes present). Book 2 of His Heir Series, but can be read as a standalone. :) Book 1 is Banished With His Heir.
View MoreHi. If you’re reading this, thank you for continuing to support this story and being part of the journey.I am sorry to say though that I am pushing back updates to May. If you have read my past author’s notes, I’ve been talking about going through some personal stuff hence why I’ve had difficulties on updating. The thing is, I’ve been battling with very emotional and depressing episodes, and it’s really taken a toll on me. Most of the time I can’t do anything and no words come out when I try to write. This is the first story I’ve truly struggled to finish because as much as I want to, I mentally and physically can’t. I would rather give you guys good chapters than rushed and unsatisfactory ones. I hope you guys understand and as I promised before, this story will still be finished. Please keep Leia and Zane in your libraries and they promise to be back on May with better and more consistent updates. In the meantime, please take care, and reminder to check on your loved ones, but
— Beta Calypso —The wind by the flowing river feels colder tonight, instantly drying the droplets of sweat that remained around my neck and back.I’d just finished another run, the adrenaline still rushing in me as my heart pumped, but it became slower and slower.I used my hands to scoop some water and splashed it on my face. It was refreshing, and equal parts awakening. I haven’t felt this energized in a while, especially when Viktor’s been on our ass for Goddess knows how long now.Leia this, Leia that. He’s killed no less than ten searchers who have come back empty-handed every time they went away to look for her. Cane and I had to remind him that the more he killed because of how pissed he was, the slimmer his chances of finding her got. It’s not exactly easier to find a person when you only have one searcher left, is it?I stand up and walk a few feet further to the edge of the river where the forest is covered more in moss and flowers that glowed under the moonlight. Not a lot
— Leia Steele —Edith and Christopher watched as I packed my things, which weren’t really a lot, though they kept insisting I take more and more. At this point, I might have to bring a whole box.“Oh, sweetie, don’t forget this sweater. You said you liked this one, right? It always made your green eyes pop.” Edith commented as she passed me the white fleece sweater.I couldn’t tell her that as soon as I’m back with the White Howlers, I might not even need to wear thick clothing. I never did feel cold since arriving here, but I needed to act like I did because that’s how a human body worked. “Thank you,” I told Edith with a smile before trying to stuff the sweater in my pink duffle bag that was also a gift from them.“What about this one? I think you’ll need another thick coat because—“ “Oh, honey, stop giving Vera so many things. She could barely fit the sweater already. I’m sure they have all the clothes one will need there in, uh…” Christopher turned to me, as if waiting for me to
— Leia Steele —Why did I say that? Why did I just say yes to something so absurd without thinking about it thoroughly?! Oh my goddess, I’m freaking out.I splashed more water on my face for the twentieth time and tried to continue my breathing exercises, but honestly, none of it was working. After I excused myself to go to the bathroom, I’ve locked myself in here for Goddess knows how long and have contemplated my life decisions. Is it too late to take back my answer? What if I just lied that I actually had another Pack waiting for me or that I was going far far away so it was impossible for me to stay? That’s stupid! Skye would instantly know I still live here if he can sense me. Plus, I really, really hate lying, especially to good people that didn’t deserve to be fooled.“Ughhhh,” I grumbled in frustration before slumping on one of the cozy leather couches by the restroom lounge. The whole place looked like a five star winter resort, it was actually both magnificent and overwhel
— Zane Frost —What kind of wolf… doesn’t have a wolf? I mean, I’ve heard stories of dormant ones, but you could still feel them in there. If Jack says she doesn’t have a wolf, that means it would be impossible for her to shift. That thought racked my brain while I remained normal on the outside, not wanting to ruin this moment between the two of us.We were just starting to be on a good note, but Jack, this dimwit, thought it would be perfect timing to drop this news on me now. “Okay,” she suddenly said and my heart jumped.“Okay? Oh, wow, that’s— that’s really great. Thank you, uh…” “It’s Ve—“ She cleared her throat and bit her lip nervously. “Leia… my name is Leia.” “That’s a beautiful name,” I said, unable to help myself. “I’m Zane Frost. I’m the Beta.” I think I must have intimidated her because her cheeks turned red almost instantly.“It’s not a big deal, I swear. We’re all just… casual here. Please don’t feel too nervous.” I reassured her and she slowly nodded her head.“C
— Zane Frost —“I’m not going back out there,” with a stern tone I told Keira, who has followed me back inside. I couldn’t believe what I had just seen or felt, but it was right there, and I saw it with my own two eyes. Hell, it couldn’t be even more real and clear even if I was hundreds of feet away from her.I knew instantly who she was to me. She was my mate, my second chance mate. One that I was just saying a few hours ago that there was no way I was getting nor did I want to get. This was… insane.“What do you mean you’re not? Yes, you are!” Keira demanded before taking my hand and forcing me to stop walking or running or whatever it is I’m doing.Well, I am purposely trying to get away from all of this, from her.Even though Jack inside of me is stirring like mad.‘Take it easy, boy. Get yourself together.’ I linked to him, but he whined back.‘Don’t you think I’m already trying to do that? This bond is making me go insane! It’s telling me to run out there and pull her in for a
— Leia Steele —“Hey, L? L? Hello? Helloooo?” I shook my head before turning to the side where I noticed Skye was looking at me with furrowed brows and a creased forehead. “What just happened? It was like your body was here, but your mind was somewhere in outer space. Is everything alright?” He asked.“Uh, I’m fine. I just— uh, there was—“ I turned to look back to my other side where I saw him, but suddenly, there was no trace of anybody that looked like him in the crowd.I looked again, turning my head left and right, probably looking like a lunatic to whoever was watching me.“Wait, where did he go? What the heck? Was I imagining things? I— I could have sworn I saw—““Saw what? Are you looking for someone or something?” Skye asked while I couldn’t help but keep scanning the area for a certain face.We had some distance from each other, yeah, but I know what I saw and what I felt when I did. If there was a vision higher than 20/20, that’s what it seemed like at that very second. He
— Zane Frost —The clock had barely struck eight in the morning, but the Pack castle was all sorts of chaotic already, though mostly in a good way. We haven’t had a celebration this big, since… well, since the cold-hearted and psychotic wrench of a woman named Ivy, who was River’s ex Luna, had been caught in her web of lies. She didn’t know how to do anything but spend Pack resources for her and only her benefit. I remembered the day she arrived in the Pack, and her first concern was to throw herself a party, claiming that her arrival as Luna needed to be celebrated.Sure, that bit made sense, but after that, she pretty much just celebrated everything, and dear God, don’t even get me started on how River back then ate all of it up like he was a starving fat boy and Ivy was a big chocolate cake.It was maddening the way I had to endure all of that since I was River’s right hand. I had already lost count of how many times I told him to open his eyes and stop being blinded by the mate bo
— Leia Steele —I was nothing but nervous, and everything but relaxed as I stood there waiting for Skye to arrive at the spot he told me to meet him the next day. There were so many things running through my head that I was sure any second from now I would get the worst migraine of my life.Would he show up? What if he doesn’t? Did it mean that this was all a lie and he never really meant anything of what he said? Or maybe it was just all my imagination? Or maybe something bad had happened to him and there was no way for me to know how to help since he never really told me anything but his first name?!“Oh my goddess,” I let out a deep exhale, my heart going on overdrive. That was one heck of an overthinking session that I had to find a spot next to a tree and sit down beside it before I fainted.I checked the time on my watch and realized that I was a few minutes earlier. I could have sworn more time had passed, but it seems I really was just in over my head.I turned around and debat
