Osric’s POV
“What are we doing out here?” Embry’s voice floods through the link as I shift into a large black wolf and walk through the forest following a strange pull on the mate bond.
“You don’t feel it?” I link Embry knowing he stayed back to ensure a safe perimeter around Adaline and Jyrki’s home while Gideon and his family are near Blood Moon.
“I feel something, but it shouldn’t be possible,” Embry replies as I stop when I catch a glimpse of a young red pup stalking a bunny that is eating roots near the base of a shrub.
“It is, I see her,” I admit watching our young mate move down wind and begin to crawl quietly towards her prey making me chuckle.
I don’t know how old she is, but she is much younger than any wolf I’ve seen shift.
I could feel the power radiating from her, she already has the aura of a full-blown alpha, stronger than anything I’ve ever felt let alone from anyone so young.
“We have another mate?” Embry’s questions when I sniff the air and her scent hits like a brick wall me making my mouth water at the rich smell of vanilla and roses.
“We do, she’s young we’ll have to wait,” I chuckle through the link hearing her yip right as she jumps onto the bunny instantly killing it like she’s been hunting her entire life.
“How young?” Embry growls as I watch our mate tosses the bunny up into the air in my direction only to pounce on it again in avid fascination.
“It’s one of his girls, she’s young and her wolf is red and powerful,” I answer through the link then begin to chuckle as she wanders straight into me bouncing of my furry chest flat onto her ass in the snow.
“I… I…” She stutters through the link making me smile inside watching my fearless little mate look up at me with bright red glowing eyes and a bunny hanging out of her mouth.
She is small, barely up to my chest with sleek red fur the color of blood and brilliant red eyes rimmed with black.
I slowly lay down watching her grip the bunny tighter as she begins to cower and pull her tail between her legs.
“You don’t have to be afraid Little Bunny, I know your family,” I connect with her link effortlessly recognizing that she is like me, she is a Lycan Alpha.
I can’t help looking around for her twin sister noticing that she managed to wander out her all by herself.
“How?” She links while laying down in front of me with about a ten-foot gap between us.
“Gideon was in my pack before you were born; you must be Raven where is your sister?” I question looking around again knowing Liliana is the timid one between them.
“Yes, Liliana didn’t change, something else happened. Who are you?” Raven questions as my head tilts in shock, knowing that she and Liliana are both Lycan.
I also know that if Liliana manifested magic differently than Raven she must be a Lycan Healer like her grandmother.
“Alpha Osric, you’re very brave wandering all the way out here alone. I see you’ve made your first kill,” I mention watching her slowly move closer dragging her bunny with her.
“Want some? I caught a bunny,” Raven sounds proud as she drops the bunny next to me and gets comfortable sharing her prey with me.
“What do you mean something else happened to Liliana?” I question while sniffing her fur finding myself becoming more relaxed in her presence.
“She didn’t shift because she got magic, she can heal,” Raven replies watching me as I get up and nudge her so she stands.
“She’ll be running around out here with you soon enough, she’ll just shift when most wolves do,” I reassure knowing that only Lycans can shift younger than thirteen and Raven is the youngest I’ve seen.
Her young shift has me wonder if her Lycan form would come sooner than her 18th birthday.
I can’t help my slight chuckle at how adorable she is as I watch her tote around the half-eaten bunny.
Raven’s ears perk up and she begins to whimper when Rebecca begins to howl in order to get Raven to respond making it easier to find her.
“It’s ok,” I reassure her knowing her parents are only wanting to make sure she is safe.
Raven drops the half-eaten bunny then howls back signaling her position; I can’t help howling with her as our voices naturally harmonize perfectly.
“Alpha?” Embry questions through the link as I hear his howl in the distance.
“Her parents are looking for her, she’s safe,” I reassure with a deep chuckle as Raven playfully jumps on me knocking me to my side as she giggles in the link.
“Why are you here?” Raven links after a few minutes of wresting around. I smile down at her laying in the snow next to me while chewing on my neck covering my black fur in drool and blood.
“To check on Gideon he’s a good friend,” I answer while nuzzling her little body with my head nearly covering her completely.
“Raven! Get over here now!” Rebecca panics through the link when I look up to see Rebecca and Gideon’s large grey wolves running towards us.
“What? I met Osric he said Daddy was in his pack?” Raven questions with a lot of confusion in her voice so I nudge her towards her parents sensing Rebecca’s unease.
“What are you doing here?” Rebecca demands with a snarl making me stiffen seeing her anger make my mate crawl on her belly in fear of her own mother.
“Rebecca calm down, you’re scaring Raven it’s ok. Osric only came to check in,” Gideon tries calming his mate who is now growling at me clearly not liking me near her children who Gideon knows I’ll protect with my life.
Gideon was my Beta before his children were born and I will always ensure their safety when they visit his mother, my mother’s best friend Aunty Addy.
“Raven, go home,” Rebecca tries to command her daughter making Raven whimper as she trembles afraid to move closer to her mother.
“Rebecca!” Gideon growls stepping towards Rebecca before I get the chance knowing I’d be very harsh with her.
“Raven it's going to be ok just head home, we’re going to talk to Alpha Osric,” Gideon reassures her when she looks up at him for guidance on what to do before starting to run away from us.
“Alpha Osric, it is good to see you,” Gideon sounds glad as he walks closer baring his neck out of respect. “It’s good to see you well Gideon, you need to keep a better eye on Raven. She’s going to be targeted the second anyone sees her or how powerful she is,” I admit while looking around as I can smell something off in the air. “Rebecca if I ever see you act like that towards Raven again, I will use my position as Alpha King to take your children from you. They should never be afraid of their parents, especially their mother. I know you’ve had an extremely tough life, but that’s no excuse, you were treated very well in my pack,” I scold Rebecca making her drop to a submissive position as she whimpers unable to fight submitting to her Alpha. “Osric please, Rebecca was afraid Raven was found by rogues,” Gideon links moving between Rebecca and I making me nod as I understand being afraid for her daughter but scaring her like that is unacceptable. After talking for a few more moments
“What are we going to do now? She can’t keep coming back here other wolves and vampires will come after her if they find out what she is to us,” Embry questions while licking her hand as she rolls over and reaches out to him clearly feeling the bond to him. “Alpha Quinn will take them in, and I want you to watch her from a distance to keep her safe. I want none of the elders to know about her, we know what Sasha and her supporters would do,” I can’t stifle my yawn as I watch him lay on Raven’s other side with her hand resting on his neck. “What about Blood Moon?” Embry whines at Raven passing out into a deep sleep. “She’s going to be ok; Blood Moon isn’t your priority I’ll have Eya take over your Beta duties. Our mate needs someone to look after her and keep her safe, you’re the only one I trust more than myself to protect her,” I instruct then begin to growl getting up hearing someone approaching. “Gideon,” Embry links while smelling the air as I look towards the sound seeing him
Raven’s POV Shortly after returning to Seattle, we were forced to leave the city and joined a real pack in Finland near Blood Moon. We lived peacefully in the pack able to hide Liliana’s abilities and that I shifted so young, but it all changed just after turning eleven. “Lily!” I call out feeling her fear as we were playing in the forest with other pack children, but they disappeared on us. “Where are you?” I ask quietly trying to find her scent as I can’t shift to find her because Alpha Quinn has no idea Liliana and I are different. “Lily!” I yell hearing my parents calling out for both of us from quite a distance and it is now getting dark. “Lily where are you; I know you’re scared,” searching for Liliana I try to link to her mind even though she has never been able to link me back. I nearly cry because I am still unable to communicate through the link without her shifting. I feel myself whimper as my hair stands on end making my claws start to come out feeling my sister’s f
“Raven, stay close, we’re going to my campsite to wait for your parents. Embry make sure no one from Wolf Creek follows,” Alpha Osric instructs while brushing his fingers through my fur and I nod. “Come on Liliana, I will carry you it will be faster,” Alpha Osric softly speaks while picking her up and she nods her head. “Why are you so nice to us?” Liliana questions with her arms around his neck rubbing against his beard. “Your family came from my pack. I felt your father become an Alpha of his own making, then I heard Raven’s howl. Blood Moon will always watch over you Little Luna, you and Raven are quite special,” Alpha Osric explains as he moves swiftly through the trees with me staying very close to his side. “How are we special?” Liliana asks while watching Alpha Osric who focuses on the path ahead. “You’re both Lycans meant to be alphas, born under the blood moon no less; one gifted with the power to heal and the other gifted the power of wrath,” Alpha Osric explains leading
“How are you feeling?” Osric questions while coming into his tent returning from scouting to find Liliana and I curled up together in his bed. “Tired,” Liliana answers while running her fingers through my silky onyx hair, I am curled in to her trying to process everything I have done. “It’s been a long night, just rest your parents are close. In the morning we’ll escort you to your grandmother’s house where you’ll be safe,” Osric admits while sitting in front of the fire as my eyes follow him unable to peel them away. “Why can’t we stay with your pack?” Liliana asks the one question I want to ask; but feel like I can’t, afraid of the answer. “You wouldn’t be safe; Blood Moon is one of the oldest packs to exist and follows outdated traditions that I am changing. They also follow the rule of an Elder Council which won’t appreciate Raven and her powers, so it’s safer for your family to hide for now. Someday it will be a place for your family,” Osric answers watching me sit up holding
We move back to Seattle Washington hoping for things to go back to normal, but they don’t. Being able to shift and knowing how different Liliana and I are causes us to grow a little distant over the years. I always have extra attention and need to learn about being a wolf, how to control myself, how to hunt, and how to blend in. While I am being trained as a wolf Liliana is being watched by close family friend Jonathan who is teaching her about our history. Liliana doesn’t need to be taught about her magic since it comes naturally to her, she knows her limits and that she can heal me more than anyone else without harming herself. Then things get even more difficult just after we turn seventeen when Jonathan disappears. In the middle of the night, we were taken to our dad’s friend Nikki’s house in California with no explanation of why. “What’s going on?” I ask while looking around for my parents as Nikki comes inside after being on the phone. Liliana and I are sitting on the couc
Trigger Warning: Talk of abuse/rape of a 17-year-old “What?” Ryder nearly yells while opening the door wafting the room with my dad’s scent. “Ryder, I need to talk to Raven,” Dad answers, my heart begins to race because part of me wants to hide while the other part wants to run into my dad’s arms. “I don’t know who you’re talking about, I’ve been staying up here alone,” Ryder answers making me blush and I can hear my dad chuckle slightly. “I can smell that she’s in here, it’s ok Ryder. Thank you for making sure she was safe,” Dad said while stepping into the tree house and I curl up tighter. “She doesn’t want anyone,” Ryder argues trying not to let my dad further into the tree house. “I know she’s going through a lot, but I do need to talk to my daughter and make sure she’s ok,” Dad softly speaks so I pull the blanket down letting Dad see my head and he smiles gently. “I’m fine,” I sigh while sitting up and Ryder looks back at me in concern. “Good, we still need to talk. Can yo
Liliana’s POV “Hey,” Raven whispers when we both wake up alone in the room. “Hi,” I sigh while looking down at my stomach feeling Raven pull me into her warm arms where she holds me tight. “Are you ok all things considered,” Raven question while running her fingers through my hair. I can feel her protective aura slowly fill the room covering us like a soothing warm blanket. “I don’t know, I’m having Jonathan’s baby…I just don’t know what to do,” I whisper while looking up trying to fight back the tears flooding my eyes not sure how to feel. Every part of me knows what Jonathan did to me was very wrong, but part of me felt drawn to him at the time and could feel how much he cared for me. “I’m so sorry, I should have helped you,” Raven apologizes while brushing my hair from my face placing her warm lips to my forehead making me hold onto her tighter. “You’re here now,” I whisper then begin to cry into her shoulder feeling very relieved to let Raven in. “And I’m not going anywher
