“Raven!” Liliana sighs while jumping up on the bed and hugs me when Dad sits down on the bed with me in his arms.
“Lily,” I cry while holding onto her with the blanket tightly around me.
“Raven it’s ok,” Dad reassures while rubbing my back and I nod my head as I feel my mother’s rage nearly choking me like a thick fog.
“I know Mom is angry,” I whisper while looking over at her as she paces next to the bed.
“Mom was really scared, no one could find you and you’re naked,” Liliana admits while looking into my nearly black eyes and I look down and away.
“I’m sorry,” I whisper while crawling into my bed holding the fur blanket over me.
“Raven we’re just happy you’re ok. I’m glad Osric found you and helped you,” our dad reassures while rubbing my back as I face the wall knowing everyone was upset with me.
“No!” I scream holding onto the fur blanket as tight as I can feeling it being pulled off of me.
“Raven let go! You’re not keeping it!” Rebecca growls firmly pulling the blanket away and I shake my head with my jaw clinched feeling anger like I have never felt.
“No, it’s mine! He gave it to me,” I cry trying my hardest to rip it from her hands but she won’t let go.
“He shouldn’t have been here! Raven you’re not to see him again if you smell his scent again you come home to Dad or I. You are not keeping this,” Rebecca nearly screams ripping the blanket from my hands making Dad stand and Liliana move by me.
“I hate you! He is mine! The blanket is mine!” I scream while standing up as my body instinctively changes into a small crimson wolf growling at my mother.
“No, Raven don’t,” Liliana cries wrapping her arms around my waist when I try to lunge at my mother in blind rage feeling like she is taking away a part of me.
“Raven!” Rebecca snaps before Dad gets between us and grabs the blanket from her hands.
“Stop! Please stop,” Liliana cries out as I feel her trembling against me feeling that she is scared of us fighting.
“Liliana it’s ok. Rebecca she is keeping the blanket and you are wrong, we were lucky Alpha Osric and Beta Embry found her she could have died… Raven, you have to calm down or you’re going to hurt someone,” Dad reassures while taking the blanket and Rebecca storms out of the room.
“Daddy what’s wrong? Who was that man?” Liliana questions while letting me go so I crawl under the blanket my dad puts down.
“Mom is just scared she doesn’t know how to react when she’s this afraid; you know she felt what happened just like you did. That was Alpha Osric he’s an old friend,” Dad answers as I close my eyes and change back nervous that I am in more trouble.
“Why is she so mad?” Liliana asks watching me as I slowly move where my head is exposed.
“She didn’t expect to see Alpha Osric so soon, Mom doesn’t like being surprised and she’s very protective of her girls,” Dad answers while brushing Liliana’s hair back then gets up.
“Why was I drawn to him?” I question watching our dad get into the dresser as Liliana lays down.
“Because he’s an Alpha and his scent is probably familiar, he was here when you two were barely old enough to walk,” Dad answers while coming back over with a night gown and pair of underwear for me.
“Thank you, I’m sorry I scared everyone,” I apologize while getting up and begin to get dressed.
“You’re welcome, you don’t have any reason to be sorry I held Liliana feeling both of you when you were attacked. I’m just relieved Alpha Osric and Beta Embry were here to help you and heal you,” our dad admits while pulling the blankets up letting me slide into bed next to Liliana.
“I could feel him differently… I could feel he was really scared and angry when he found me, but he was really gentle with me and he was really nice,” I smile gently as Dad lays the fur blanket over us instead of our usual top blanket.
“Good, he is a good man, you two get some rest now it has been a very long night and morning,” Dad smiles while sitting on the edge of the bed and kisses my forehead.
“Good night, Daddy, I love you,” I yawn while cuddling up to Liliana which makes him smile.
“I love you too, good night girls. I love you Liliana,” Dad smiles while kissing Liliana’s forehead and she hugs him.
“I love you too, Daddy, good night,” Liliana replies as our dad begins tucking us into bed.
“You girls sleep well, when you wake up Mummo will have biscuits and gravy made and maybe even some reindeer steak,” Dad smiles while getting up then closes the curtains where the room is dark before turning off the light and leaving the room.
“Raven are you ok?” Liliana questions once we are alone as I look into her bright blue eyes.
“Yeah, I’m scared of Mom, and everything hurts especially my ribs and side,” I admit while looking down as Liliana puts her hand over my side creating a soft white light between her hand and my side.
“Mom loves you she was just scared, I began to freak out I had no idea what was happening, but she and Daddy instantly knew. I hope that helps,” Liliana reassures while resting her head against my shoulder still healing me.
“I know Mom is scared, but she gets angry and mean way too fast when I did nothing wrong,” I try hard to stop myself from crying knowing it will get me nowhere nor change how my mother treats me.
“I just think that’s how Mommy is when she’s scared, I know you shifting this early makes her nervous and you were attacked,” Liliana admits while brushing my hair back out of my face and I nod understanding what she means.
“I missed you tonight, I wish we could have shifted together,” I speak with a slight whine in my voice feeling nervous that Liliana and I didn’t shift at the same time.
“I missed you too, I don’t like being left behind. I know I can’t ask you to stay inside and not hunt, you need to be able to run around, I just wish I could go with you,” Liliana sighs deeply as she buries her face in my shoulder and I nod my head.
“I will try to stay closer next time; I ended up following Alpha Osric’s scent and found him in the woods. I caught a bunny,” I giggle remembering stalking and catching the bunny.
“I’m happy you got to hunt, what is it like being a wolf?” Liliana questions with wonder in her voice making me blush trying to think of how to describe it.
“It’s like being in the mind of a wolf, there is a lot of natural instinct as well as what’s already in here. It feels very freeing and so fun being able to run around so freely,” I try explain while pointing to my head hoping she understands what I mean about having an animalistic mentality with the human side still being there.
We talk for a little while then fell asleep cuddled up together.
Osric’s POV “What are we doing out here?” Embry’s voice floods through the link as I shift into a large black wolf and walk through the forest following a strange pull on the mate bond. “You don’t feel it?” I link Embry knowing he stayed back to ensure a safe perimeter around Adaline and Jyrki’s home while Gideon and his family are near Blood Moon. “I feel something, but it shouldn’t be possible,” Embry replies as I stop when I catch a glimpse of a young red pup stalking a bunny that is eating roots near the base of a shrub. “It is, I see her,” I admit watching our young mate move down wind and begin to crawl quietly towards her prey making me chuckle. I don’t know how old she is, but she is much younger than any wolf I’ve seen shift. I could feel the power radiating from her, she already has the aura of a full-blown alpha, stronger than anything I’ve ever felt let alone from anyone so young. “We have another mate?” Embry’s questions when I sniff the air and her scent hits like
“Alpha Osric, it is good to see you,” Gideon sounds glad as he walks closer baring his neck out of respect. “It’s good to see you well Gideon, you need to keep a better eye on Raven. She’s going to be targeted the second anyone sees her or how powerful she is,” I admit while looking around as I can smell something off in the air. “Rebecca if I ever see you act like that towards Raven again, I will use my position as Alpha King to take your children from you. They should never be afraid of their parents, especially their mother. I know you’ve had an extremely tough life, but that’s no excuse, you were treated very well in my pack,” I scold Rebecca making her drop to a submissive position as she whimpers unable to fight submitting to her Alpha. “Osric please, Rebecca was afraid Raven was found by rogues,” Gideon links moving between Rebecca and I making me nod as I understand being afraid for her daughter but scaring her like that is unacceptable. After talking for a few more moments
“What are we going to do now? She can’t keep coming back here other wolves and vampires will come after her if they find out what she is to us,” Embry questions while licking her hand as she rolls over and reaches out to him clearly feeling the bond to him. “Alpha Quinn will take them in, and I want you to watch her from a distance to keep her safe. I want none of the elders to know about her, we know what Sasha and her supporters would do,” I can’t stifle my yawn as I watch him lay on Raven’s other side with her hand resting on his neck. “What about Blood Moon?” Embry whines at Raven passing out into a deep sleep. “She’s going to be ok; Blood Moon isn’t your priority I’ll have Eya take over your Beta duties. Our mate needs someone to look after her and keep her safe, you’re the only one I trust more than myself to protect her,” I instruct then begin to growl getting up hearing someone approaching. “Gideon,” Embry links while smelling the air as I look towards the sound seeing him
Raven’s POV Shortly after returning to Seattle, we were forced to leave the city and joined a real pack in Finland near Blood Moon. We lived peacefully in the pack able to hide Liliana’s abilities and that I shifted so young, but it all changed just after turning eleven. “Lily!” I call out feeling her fear as we were playing in the forest with other pack children, but they disappeared on us. “Where are you?” I ask quietly trying to find her scent as I can’t shift to find her because Alpha Quinn has no idea Liliana and I are different. “Lily!” I yell hearing my parents calling out for both of us from quite a distance and it is now getting dark. “Lily where are you; I know you’re scared,” searching for Liliana I try to link to her mind even though she has never been able to link me back. I nearly cry because I am still unable to communicate through the link without her shifting. I feel myself whimper as my hair stands on end making my claws start to come out feeling my sister’s f
“Raven, stay close, we’re going to my campsite to wait for your parents. Embry make sure no one from Wolf Creek follows,” Alpha Osric instructs while brushing his fingers through my fur and I nod. “Come on Liliana, I will carry you it will be faster,” Alpha Osric softly speaks while picking her up and she nods her head. “Why are you so nice to us?” Liliana questions with her arms around his neck rubbing against his beard. “Your family came from my pack. I felt your father become an Alpha of his own making, then I heard Raven’s howl. Blood Moon will always watch over you Little Luna, you and Raven are quite special,” Alpha Osric explains as he moves swiftly through the trees with me staying very close to his side. “How are we special?” Liliana asks while watching Alpha Osric who focuses on the path ahead. “You’re both Lycans meant to be alphas, born under the blood moon no less; one gifted with the power to heal and the other gifted the power of wrath,” Alpha Osric explains leading
“How are you feeling?” Osric questions while coming into his tent returning from scouting to find Liliana and I curled up together in his bed. “Tired,” Liliana answers while running her fingers through my silky onyx hair, I am curled in to her trying to process everything I have done. “It’s been a long night, just rest your parents are close. In the morning we’ll escort you to your grandmother’s house where you’ll be safe,” Osric admits while sitting in front of the fire as my eyes follow him unable to peel them away. “Why can’t we stay with your pack?” Liliana asks the one question I want to ask; but feel like I can’t, afraid of the answer. “You wouldn’t be safe; Blood Moon is one of the oldest packs to exist and follows outdated traditions that I am changing. They also follow the rule of an Elder Council which won’t appreciate Raven and her powers, so it’s safer for your family to hide for now. Someday it will be a place for your family,” Osric answers watching me sit up holding
We move back to Seattle Washington hoping for things to go back to normal, but they don’t. Being able to shift and knowing how different Liliana and I are causes us to grow a little distant over the years. I always have extra attention and need to learn about being a wolf, how to control myself, how to hunt, and how to blend in. While I am being trained as a wolf Liliana is being watched by close family friend Jonathan who is teaching her about our history. Liliana doesn’t need to be taught about her magic since it comes naturally to her, she knows her limits and that she can heal me more than anyone else without harming herself. Then things get even more difficult just after we turn seventeen when Jonathan disappears. In the middle of the night, we were taken to our dad’s friend Nikki’s house in California with no explanation of why. “What’s going on?” I ask while looking around for my parents as Nikki comes inside after being on the phone. Liliana and I are sitting on the couc
Trigger Warning: Talk of abuse/rape of a 17-year-old “What?” Ryder nearly yells while opening the door wafting the room with my dad’s scent. “Ryder, I need to talk to Raven,” Dad answers, my heart begins to race because part of me wants to hide while the other part wants to run into my dad’s arms. “I don’t know who you’re talking about, I’ve been staying up here alone,” Ryder answers making me blush and I can hear my dad chuckle slightly. “I can smell that she’s in here, it’s ok Ryder. Thank you for making sure she was safe,” Dad said while stepping into the tree house and I curl up tighter. “She doesn’t want anyone,” Ryder argues trying not to let my dad further into the tree house. “I know she’s going through a lot, but I do need to talk to my daughter and make sure she’s ok,” Dad softly speaks so I pull the blanket down letting Dad see my head and he smiles gently. “I’m fine,” I sigh while sitting up and Ryder looks back at me in concern. “Good, we still need to talk. Can yo
