Chapter 35

Oliver was running freely through a field full of grass and flowers, feeling a tickle in his feet; the air was blowing lightly, taking some flowers with it. He laughed, finally feeling at peace.

"Oliver."

When the chestnut heard his mother's soft voice behind him, he stopped smelling the flowers, turning to see the woman who had given him life smiling at him with open arms. Oliver didn't wait for a second, and with tears in his eyes, he ran to reach her.

"Mom," he murmured with a lump in his throat, "I missed you so much."

"I missed you too, my boy."

He felt the loneliness and sadness disappear when he was in Collette's arms; they were so warm and loving that Oliver just wanted to stay by her side forever. It was real; it wasn't a dream: he was hugging his mother. He felt her soft hands lovingly caress his hair, combing it back and forth.
