Prologue

"I've had enough of you! I left everything for you, and what did I get in return? Nothing! I got nothing! And now, what's even worse is that you are blaming me for the loss you suffered because of your stupidity! You have a nerve John!" Screamed the 30 year old woman at her husband. If it wasn't for her husband's ignorant behavior, they would have been like a normal happy family like everyone else with their son and daughter.

But no. John never had time for his wife as he was always busy making money. And recently after suffering a loss in his business, leaving them bankrupt, he blamed it all on his wife with baseless excuses. She had an idea about her husband's drug addictions and so knew what this was all about.

She was tired. Tired of having to fight everyday. Tired of dealing with the same drama. At first she thought she could put up with his stubborn behavior, but how wrong she was. He only got worse as time passed. And everything had reached its limit. She couldn't bear to live with him anymore and destroy her children's future.

She had made up her mind and she wouldn't back out. Once all her belongings were packed along with her 6 years old daughter's and 10 years old son's, she was about to leave the house when a hand grabbed her roughly.

"Where the hell do you think you are going?" John gritted out deadly.

"I am going away from you to have a better future for my children!" She shouted at him while he scoffed at her words.

"You know you won't be able to provide anything for them!" He smirked .

"How stupid do you actually think I am huh? " It was her turn to smirk.

"I have already planned everything. I don't need a sick excuse of a husband in my life anymore. Someone who hardly has any time for his wife or children." She spat and turned away to leave the house, clutching her children's hands in hers and pulling the suitcase behind her. But she felt one of her child's hands loosen and suddenly yanked away from her.

"Don't forget he is my son. My heir! And he is going to handle my business once he is of age. You can take yourself and your daughter and live your life in misery. But I'm not giving you my son!" He glared at her as he picked up his son in his arms and clutched him tightly to his body.

"How dare you, filthy rat ! He is my son! You won't ever take care of him like a mother can! Hand him over to me right now !" She moved forward to pull her son out of his hold but he only called for the guards to push her and his daughter out of the house.

"What the hell are you doing!? Let me go! " She screamed, yanking her hand out of the guard's hold. "Give me my son back you dick!" She screamed at her husband, thrashing in the guard's hold but he only looked at her amused. She could hear the cries of her son and daughter now. They were being separated because of a jerk. Both the siblings loved each other so much, they hardly stayed away from each other. But the jerk had to ruin everything. She cursed the guard who threw her out of the house and locked the doors!

"Give me my son back, you bastard!" She kept banging the door but no one opened it. She slumped against it as tears welled out of her eyes. She lost. Lost to that jerk. She couldn't take her son with her.

She kept crying silently when her eyes fell on her daughter whose face was also stained with tears. God, she was so innocent. She didn't deserve that man as her father. Neither did her son. She picked her daughter up and wrapped her arms around her, trying to sooth her baby.

"It is ok Grace! Mama loves you! She will always take care of you." She whispered in her baby's ear with tears still streaming down her face.

She was going to live for her daughter and would try anything to get her son back. That was her promise. A mother's promise.
