Chapter 5

Grace 's Pov

We were making our way to this restaurant where he had to meet someone for a business meeting. I was in his car and the tension was thick. The silence was threatening and the hard expression on his face didn't help at all.

We were at the restaurant in a few minutes. A guard opened my gate and helped me out. I thanked him softly before moving behind Mr. Knight, as he continued walking in his powerful strides. I had to run a little to keep up with him. We were escorted to a private area by the workers as soon as they recognized Mr. Knight. I saw that the person we had to meet was already there, and we joined him at the table.

"Hello Mr Knight. It's nice to meet you finally." He offered his hand and Mr Knight accepted, shaking it firmly.

"What is the reason that you wanted to meet me in a hurry Mr. Worthing?" Mr. Knight asked as he took a sip from his coffee.

"Well Mr. Knight, I thought of the tempting deal you had offered my company a few weeks back. I have made up my mind to accept it." Mr. Worthing replied rather cheerfully.

"Well then I'm sorry to break it to you but you are a little late for that. I have already found a more reliable partner for that." Mr Knight casually sipped his coffee.

"I see. Well, are you not ready to consider it even after I offer you 20 % shares in my company." He challenged Mr Knight to rethink about it.

Mr knight gave him a bored look before pulling out his hand in my direction asking for something. I knew what he wanted and immediately searched for the paper that I had put in my bag before leaving, and placed it in his hands. He snapped the paper on Mr. Worthing's face before starting to speak.

"According to these details found by my P.A, your company is already in a debt of $50 million. Plus you are hardly gaining any profits so I'm sure those 20% shares in your company are going to do no good to me. It would be better if you just sell your company to someone who actually knows how to run it." He smirked and got up excusing himself to attend a call.

"So you are the one huh? Interesting," I looked at Me. Worthing skeptically on his comment. He reached his pocket to bring out an envelope and placed it right in front of me on the table.

I looked at him confused to see him nodding towards the envelope, signaling me to look inside. I picked up the envelope and opened it to find money. A huge amount to be exact.

"It's $ 50,000. Work with us behind his back and it's all yours," I raised an eyebrow at his ridiculous offer. Yes I was in need of money but that didn't mean I would backstab anyone and gain it by unfair means.

"You want me to betray him?" I asked bored.

"That's exactly what I want, sweetheart. I can give you the double of what he gives you. Along with much more," he licked his lips eyeing my body. I felt disgusted. I tossed the envelope on his face.

"No thank you but I am doing quite well." He scoffed at my remark.

"Now we all know that's a lie," that fucker spoke. How dare he say anything about my personal life?

"Well whatever it is, it isn't your business. And I'd like it if you stay out of it." I rejected his offer once again.

"You will regret it." Before I could say anything back to him, Mr knights came and ordered that we were leaving. And so I left with him, not before giving that fucker a sting eye.

Author's Pov

Ashton sipped down his wine as his thoughts roamed on someone. He scoffed at her for some reason. How stupid she is. Trying to act all innocent to get close to him and then ruin him one way or another. He knew the tactics women use these days.

He remembered two days back when he had over worked himself and got a fever and she helped him. She had proven then, that she just wanted to be in his pants. Wanted to take advantage of him. Well that's the legal explanation his brain gave him. He knew his heart was objecting to this point, but he shoved that feeling deep down. It was argued that she was not like that and was indeed an innocent girl but he didn't want to listen to that voice.

Even yesterday at the meeting, she refused to take that amount of money from the bastard because she knew Ashton was close and would catch her. Otherwise who would have refused that generous amount? No one in their right minds. Of course, he had witnessed the whole incident taking place in front of him. But it momentarily surprised him when she refused his offer. He was itching to fire her. He knew that she would do something in the future that would provoke him and give him an excuse to fire her and he was desperately rooting for that day.

She was just trouble. He had been keeping a sharp eye on her moves to find any excuse to fire her, but that girl didn't give him any. Everything she did was perfect. He knew that the presentation she gave was perfect too, but he didn't want her to get ahead of herself after praising her. That would just give her an excuse to stick to him even more.

"Where are you lost?" He was broken out of his thoughts when Adrian made his appearance in the living room.

"What are you doing here?" Ashton raised an eyebrow at him.

"Why? A person cannot visit his best friend?" Adrian plopped down on the couch before pouring out some wine in a glass for himself and twirled the glass in the air.

"Just thinking about a few things," Ashton replied bored.

"Do those few things involve a certain P.A who's name you still don't know?" Adrian teased him since he didn't even know her name. Ashton gulped down his wine before replying.

"No I wasn't thinking about her," he lied sharply, "and I know her name. It is Grace. Grace Miller." Adrian's head snapped towards Ashton at the name.

"Grace?" He whispered. Could it be? No but there were so many people with the same name and probably the same surname as well. But something in his heart was not complying. He wanted to know more about her.

"Tell me more about her," He said casually, wanting some more information.

"Why? Are you suddenly not interested in Macy's?" Ashton questioned in irritation.

"Of course I am. How can you even say that." Adrian argued. "I just want to make sure that she isn't working behind your back with someone, considering all your previous assistants were nothing but losers. I just want your business to be okay," he reasoned with him. Even if they were best friends, Adrian had still not shared the dark past of his family with him. For some reason he didn't want to dwell on the thought. But that didn't mean he gave up finding his little princess. He sighed knowing how terribly he missed her. He just wanted to know if she was safe.

"My business is way ahead of everyone's, okay? Tell me about yours. How are things going?" Ashton changed the topic not wanting to talk about Grace anymore.
