Chapter 7: BUSINESS TRIP

Chris POV

Unable to contain the feeling of euphoria I did a few dance steps, actually I'm an awful dancer, but Joanna was a real pain in the ass, the good thing is that she accepted my sex partnership proposal.

I haven't spoken all day with Axen and I'm quite sure that she is pissed off still sadly I can't help but ignore it, we could always make amends later. We've been friends from birth and I know how sensitive she can be to things especially when it's me on the line.

" Hello Axen, can you come around? I have some good news that you wouldn't want to miss for anything in the world." I said with a giggle, it wasn't funny but I create my sense of humour.

Before I could drop my phone on the living room table, there she was standing before me. At first, I was startled. " Hey! I thought we agreed not to use our teleporting powers except in an emergency?" I asked her.

She nodded like a kid, " Yeah, we did. And I couldn't help it when I got your call it sounded more like an emergency." She sat down next to me and continued," Do you know how I had to watch my phone all day for your call?" She whined.

" I apologize for not calling earlier I thought that you were still upset about the other day."

" So, you won't hesitate to ghost me if I get mad at you for a week, huh? "

" Listen Axen, that's not what I meant. I'm sorry, okay."

" I'm cool with you. Now, tell me what the great news is I can't control my excitement."

" Okay. The truth is, Joanna finally accepted to be my lover." I said with so much ecstasy.

" Oh really? She did? " Axen said but didn't sound happy, " Congratulations on your newly found love." She said and stood up.

" Are you leaving already?" I asked her, she was prancing around. I noticed she was feeling uncomfortable I would have tried reading her mind but we Ginns don't read the minds of our fellow immortals no matter how hard we try. Though there are some exceptions for our leader and those in high places, we can always block their mind-reading access if we want to, it's nothing special to read the mind of a fellow Ginn.

" You're supposed to be happy and cheer me on. What's wrong with you?"

" Are you trying to get rid of me now that you have a new girl?" She asked while glaring furiously at me. Axen is the worst when it comes to temper management.

" Woah! Woah! It hasn't gotten to that point yet... Is that you being jealous?" I asked her at the same time trying to tease her.

" I'm not jealous." She said and walked away from me, " Do you have snacks in there?" She pointed at the refrigerator while walking towards its direction.

" See for yourself." That was all I could say, I left her in the living room and walked to the movie room to watch some K-drama to clear off my mind.

" You can join me if you want," I called out from inside. But no one answered, " She's probably gone by now."' I thought and shrugged.

Then I heard a knock, and her face popped in. " Stop playing tricks and join me let's watch together to make up for the time I was away."

She smiled, " As if you have been gone for eternity."

Axen's POV

It pained me when I heard that Joanna had finally accepted to be his girlfriend, truth be told I was praying that she wouldn't. I liked him so much and always envied the girls that dated him though I didn't have a problem with it.

I am always glad that they were nothing but his flings, he would introduce them to me calling me his sister and I will take in the heartache all the time and pretend to welcome them.

Two weeks later they would be gone calling him a jerk, and another girl will roll in.

These girls that I saw him with came for his money and his looks and occasionally I will warn him praying and hoping he would turn his attention to me even for once.

Some wishes they say never come true and so is mine though I can't give up without a fight, I don't dare to tell him how much I like him as other ladies do but I won't let another person have him not even Joanna.

If it is a risk I must take to make him mine I will gladly do it as long as he belongs to me and me alone.

Ginns don't use our powers on our fellow Ginn except on occasions that a person is endangered by a fellow which is a very rare case.

I looked at him so fast asleep on my lap, tell me why I shouldn't fall for a man like him, a lot of guys have approached me based on a relationship but I can't vibe with them, I can not think of somebody else other than him.

That is why I came rushing when he called to inform me of the good news. Staying up all day unable to concentrate on anything, but to think of him at some point I sensed something going on maybe that was when Joanna said yes to him.

Why is he so dumb to notice how much I like him and how often I had always dreamed of holding him in my arm and calling him mine with confidence? He is so dense to the point of not recognizing such feelings.

I took him to his room and place him on his mattress. I had to go back to my house and wallow in cold and loneliness, I have to try flirting with countless guys to send away that cold I feel, but it will be to no avail.

I don't want to stay with him at this point because as I continue to look at him I might be tempted to do something crazy, hence, I'll let it slide for today.

Joanna's POV

I got home feeling exhausted but happy I have done what I was afraid to do. Yolanda popped up in my room like a ghost." Goodness! You scared me, Yolanda."

" I thought you would not come back tonight, I was hoping that you would have another smashing night with him." She said giving me a teasing look.

" Jeez, are you trying to turn me into a whore? I mean who in the world would wish for her best friend to make out with a guy on the first day of their date?" I asked her.

"That's gross, get out of my room and never return. I ordered jokingly, she held onto me not wanting to let go.

" I just want to see you happy." She said apologetically.

" Having sex with some random guy doesn't make me happy it adds to my depression."

Yolanda sat on my mattress and I placed my head on her lap, it was soothing so I fell asleep without any effort.

Chris POV

I don't know how and when I fell asleep but I found myself on my mattress, Axen was gone.

I know that she was upset yesterday and must have left early so I won't ask her to stay but I can't comprehend why she was so flared up yesterday when I told her about me and Joanna. She even helped me to pursue her.

Ladies can be confusing, you can never understand their switch in emotions, I had always treated her specially and with love as my baby sister because I never had one to call my own.

I'll call her later to check on her because not calling her will be a disaster to mortals. No matter how hard she is according to what she told me some years back, I should always call her no matter how pissed she is with me.

That rule, I must obey or else the next day will be a very gloomy one.

She will cause calamities to befall humans as a way of venting her anger moreso a human had a hand in it this time so it would be doom and I have to fix that or else...

Someone knocked on my door, probably been knocking for a very long time and I had just noticed. " Come in."

" Good morning, Mr Chris." I turned around.

" Good morning, Jace," I answered, inspecting him. " Where have you been and where is the document I asked you to bring?"

" I knocked on your door that night to ask you which one you wanted but I got no reply, so when I was about leaving I got a call that my daughter was ill and had been rushed to the hospital. I'm sorry for not notifying you about it, it's my fault punish me accordingly." He pleaded on his knees.

I looked at him, does he think he can bear a ton of my punishment? He doesn't even know who I am, at least nobody has figured that out. Someone once tried to yet failed.

" That's enough, I punish severely and you won't stand a chance to be alive if I do punish you, besides I can't punish a caring father who risks his life to save his dying daughter," I said and smiled mischievously at him.

I had read his mind and found out that he was lying to me but I didn't want to be busted about being a mind reader so I acted cool and let it go.

He was shocked that I didn't ask him anything further, I patted his shoulder and went out. " You can drive me to the office," I called after him.

" Yes, Sir," Jace said and moved forward to open the car door.

" So, what is my schedule like today?" I asked Jace who was so focused on driving on the highway.

" You have a meeting with some clients from America by 10 am, before that, you have to attend a one-hour presentation by the development team on the new software they plan on developing by 9 am and you have a flight to catch by noon."

" A flight? To where?" I asked astonished. How can these people plan on ruining my plans of having a steamy night with Joanna tonight?

" Yes. You have a flight scheduled for Spain. You are to sign a deal with one of the best coding companies. Don't you remember the APIcodes company you were dying to partner with? Today is the day to finalize the partnership deal."

" Did you plan on ruining my day?" I asked him.

Jace was taken off guard, " Pardon?"

" Nevermind. When will I return?" I asked trying to plan.

" A flight from Athens, Greece to Barcelona, Spain takes two hours thirty minutes to land."

" What time will I return?!" I shouted at him losing my cool.

" Sir, you need to calm down," Jace said forcing me to lose my cool.

" Don't tell me to calm down. Jace, I had plans with my girlfriend. I planned how tonight will be and..." My voice trailed off.

Jace nodded. " I understand your plight, but you need to make money first, the affairs of the company should be your priority."

" Who made you the finance manager?" I growled... "When will I return, son of man!" I screamed.

" You're leaving by noon... Depends on how quick the meeting will be... You might return tonight or tomorrow morning. "

" Cancel the flight," I ordered.

" What?! No. You have to be there, other companies are waiting to snatch them away from you, don't take chances. You can always meet Joanna when you return. If you disappoint the Spanish you'll never get hold of them again." He said hoping that his advice would work for me... I heard his thoughts.

" I'll let it slide this once. Next time tell me before you book a flight and schedule an appointment with a foreign company." I warned.

" Yes, Sir." He replied and rushed forth to open the door. " We've arrived, Sir."

" Brief me on what the meeting with the Americans is all about." I inquired

" They saw our latest product online and contacted us wanting to buy it, so we told them that it would only be sold if they sent representatives to our company to sign our copyright agreement. You know how these foreigners can be so cunning." Jace said.

The arrangement was impressive. I remember an incident in which the company nearly got scammed by a foreign company that wanted to buy our software for programming without signing the copyright agreement. Thanks to Jace we were on time to retrieve them before they were able to leave the country.
