Chapter 9

She took the brush and concealer and tried to hide her bruises. Pumping the concealer on the brush, she brought it closer to her face. She looked at her reflection in the mirror.

She was tired of covering up the bruises on her body and face. She breathed out audibly and dropped the brush back on the dressing table.

She was done with covering up. How much will she? After all, there comes a time when it all seems useless and that’s what she felt. It was useless.

She walked to her bed and collected all of the things that lay scattered on the bed and put them in her bag. She pulled the zipper close and wore her backpack. She bent down and slid into her worn-out Grey sneakers and laced them up.

She looked at her face, which was swollen at one side and a purplish-black bruise adorned the valley between her cheek and forehead.

She walked out of her room not bothering about her face because they would only remind her of the pain she was trying to ignore.
