CHAPTER 1

Amber’s POV

I couldn’t take it anymore.

So I did what I usually do. I parted my lips, stiffened my body and faked an orgasm.

Moments later I felt him cum and rolled off me to the bed.

“Did you enjoy it?” sweat glistered on his face and his brown eyes glimmered with self-pride.

I forced a smile on my lips and nodded. “I did. It was awesome.”

I didn’t. I never really enjoyed sex with my boyfriend- Dave, but he was a good man. He had a normal stable job, a decent apartment, and always knew what to say no matter the situation. Being in a relationship with him was healthy- according to societal standards.

“I’ll be right back,” he kissed my forehead and leaped off the bed, heading to the bathroom.

I sighed and dragged the sheets up to my neck. I had work tomorrow so I needed all the sleep I could get.

I felt his weight on the bed as he cuddled nakedly against me. “I’ll be going to work really early but so you might not see me.” He kissed my cheeks before murmuring against my neck. “Good night Amber.”

“Good night Dave,” I whispered back to him and ran my fingers gently across his arm in a pattern. Doing that made him sleep deeper and I really needed to cum before I sleep.

At exactly ten minutes later, I silently and carefully got off the bed. I made my way to his wardrobe handle where I hung my hand bag. I slid my hand into it and brought out my vibrator- fully charged prior to my coming here.

I walked into the bathroom and clicked the door locked. Next, I twisted open the shower tap and lowered myself unto the covered seat of the toilet. Dave was a deep sleeper, but turning on the shower was extra precaution.

I turned on my trusty vibrator that has never let me down and spread my legs. Telling Dave about his bad bedroom skills would wreck him and honestly, the man was trying all his possible best to please me sexually, but it was never and will be enough. I usually finished it up with my vibrator.

Thinking about Dave while pleasuring myself never worked for me, so I channeled my thoughts to one person whose fingers were like sparks of electricity on my skin and the only person whom I had really enjoyed all forms of sex with.

I came several minutes later and exhaled in relief, at the same time a wave of exhaustion swept through me and I found myself stifling a yawn. I put off the shower tap, returned my vibrator and slid under the sheets happily- post cum bliss obviously, but still happiness.

My boyfriend may be lacking greatly in the bed room department, but he was an excellent snuggle buddy, so I pressed my body against his, and fell asleep almost immediately.

If wishes were horses I would be in Santorini sipping Margarita on a yatch while my bestie would be having reckless fun with the rest of the passengers. I would watch from a distance of course, enjoying my space but still in the moment.

“Amberly!”

My thoughts vanished instantly as I look up to my boss, Juanita. Wishes weren’t horses, and this was my reality. A waitress currently stuck in a staff meeting with her infuriating boss.

“Is your up head up in the clouds? Amberly?” Juanita placed both hands on her hips and her D-cup boobs shook as she spoke.

I clenched my teeth before giving her a reply. “Of course not, Juanita.” My name was Amber, but she intentionally mispronounced it as Amberly. Some people are lucky to have bosses that give them peace of mind. But mine? She was always looking for a way to call me out and piss me off.

She kissed her teeth and then continued to address us. “Excuisine has been serving quality exquisite dishes for the past thirty years. Our reviews matter!” she almost yelled, her Spanish accent occasionally clashing with her English. “Our hospitality must be top notch, especially you, waitresses and waiters. The first people our guests will see are you guys, so remember to smile always and speak politely- I’m talking to you in particular Lauren.”

I zoned out after that, thinking about the lasagna my bestie/ house mate made. She had sent a picture to me that morning on my way to work and it was enough to make me salivate throughout the day.

“..I would be stepping out for a while today but I expect everyone to be in their behaviors during my absence,” she paused to study our faces before flicking her wrist in dismissal. “You all may leave.”

I exhaled in relief as I scurried out of the choked up office. I speed-walked to the female’s locker room where I took in several deep breaths until I felt better. Afterwards, I opened my locker, sprayed my favorite perfume and fixed my name lapel on my white shirt.

I took another deep breath just before shutting my locker. I just had to work and get back home in time to eat my lasagna and binge watch Kdrama.

I can do this.

It was barely an hour later when commotion erupted in the restaurant, magnetizing the attention of both guests and staff, including me who edged closer to the direction.

“This isn’t what I ordered!” a woman- roughly my age yelled. “I’m allergic to cheese, and I specifically said no cheese in my food,”

The waitress who had attended to her was speechless and mute. Rule 1 of being a waitress; the guest is always right.

“I came here to have one peaceful meal before heading to my photo shoot and now this?” she eyed the waitress in disgust and gasped dramatically. “You’re trying to kill me right?”

Murmurs were already swimming everywhere and the waitress, poor Lauren, looked like she wanted to burst into tears.

“Miss,” the assistant manager stepped in between them and faced her with a calm expression. “We kindly apologize for-“

“Don’t fucking tell me that!” she snapped. “I can decide to sue-“

Okay, I’ve had enough.

“It was a mistake miss,” my voice made her swirl to face me. “Lauren wouldn’t do that on purpose and we apologize. However, you really need to calm down.”

I didn’t care if I had spoken out of line. She was making a big deal out of nothing. Everyone makes mistakes, including her.

She narrowed at eyes at me and assessed my looks from up to down. “Have we met before?”

Her question threw me off guard and I blinked.

Everything about her oozed wealth. From her heavily sequined green mini gown, to the expensive jewelry adorned on her wrists, neck and ear, to her flawless fair skin. We were like polar opposites, on each ends of an extremely long line.

I shook my head in response but she didn’t look convinced.

Eventually, she shrugged and flipped her hair. “Fine, I’ll let it go. Fetch me another food and this time with no cheese.”

I let go of the breath I was holding as the tension in the air disappeared. Lauren threw me a look of gratitude before quickly returning the food to the kitchen. The assistant manager looked at me and nodded in approval. Everyone, including some of my colleagues who were watching the drama smiled at me.

I smiled back, only grateful that things didn’t spiral out of control and especially thankful that Juanita wasn’t around. Poor Lauren would’ve been suspended and the rest of us would have had to bear with her nasty temper for the next couple of days.

Things like these were frequent at restaurants. Overbearing guests, rude guests and the ones who loved taking advantage of waitresses and waiters. But we aimed to keep it to a minimum at our restaurant. After all, it’s one of the most popular 5-star restaurants in LA and we had a standard and reputation to uphold.

Dave called after my shift that day, while I was packing up my things at the locker room. “Hey Dave,” I said cheerfully amidst my exhaustion.

“Hey Amber,” I could feel his warm smile over the phone. “Are you through with your shift?”

I nodded, and then remembered that he couldn’t see me. “Yup. I’m on my way home now. How are you?”

“Exhausted,” he groaned. “And I miss you. I wish I was with you right now.”

“You’ll see me this weekend.” I reminded him as I waved goodbye to one of the chefs. I passed through the backdoor for staffs and inhaled fresh air as soon as I stepped outside.

“That’s too far,” my boyfriend whined causing me to roll my eyes.

“It’s not-“ my words choked in my throat as an unbelievable scene unfolded before my eyes.

Someone had stepped out of a tinted Lamborghini and I recognized him straight away.

How could I not? When this very man was my high school best friend, my first love and now my ex.
