Chapter 2

Jean turned around and went into the kitchen after doing the recording.

A minute later, she returned with a bucket of cold water and splashed it onto the man and woman, then threw away the bucket as the man and woman screamed in shock.

“Have you two done yet?”

The sudden appearance of Jean frightened the man and woman. They were soaked to the skin in bed.

“Put your clothes on and get the hell out of there if you’re done!”

Jean sat in the living room, her fingernails sinking into the skin of her palms as she stared at the bedroom door with an ashen face.

‘Why is the world so cruel to me? I was thinking of coming to clean up our new house since no one was here. I can’t believe that I have caught him cheating on me with his pants down a day before our wedding!’

Patrick and the woman—Selena Cain—came out of the bedroom hand in hand. Their hair was wet, water still dripping down their nervous faces.

“Since you have found out, let me be honest with you. Yes, I have betrayed you. I am sorry, Jean. You’re a wonderful woman, but I like Selena more. Forget about our wedding. It’s my fault.”

“You are sorry? Did you feel sorry when you were sleeping with this woman?” Jean gritted her teeth when she saw them holding hands. She could taste blood in her mouth.

Patrick was a rookie movie director. They became acquainted during work. He started to pursue Jean soon after that. He was the kind of boring guy who did not know how to sweet talk. Because of this, she thought he was trustworthy, unlike other men in show business, and agreed to befriend him.

She could not believe he was sleeping with this woman, a social butterfly in show-business circle, right in their bed.

Patrick stepped forward and kept Selena behind him. “It is all my fault. Come after me if you want. This has nothing to do with Selena.”

He sounded as if Selena was his true love, and she was the third party.

Her heart sank.

“You are the most beautiful and smartest woman I have ever seen, Jean. I have never thought of competing with you for anything. But... I can’t help myself—Patrick and I love each other.”

Selena’s eyes were all moist and dewy as if she deserved any pity.

“True love, eh? Did you know, Selena, it was I who paid for this very bed that you slept in just now?” Jean sneered.

Patrick did not have much savings. It was Jean who paid for the wedding.

“Stop this, Jean. I am not going to marry you, anyway!” Patrick flushed, shouting at her. “You can’t blame me for this. You are too bossy. I don’t know how to face you. I can’t breathe. I feel useless in front of you—”

Before he could finish, Jean grabbed the glass vase on the table and smashed it onto his head. He screamed in pain.
