Chapter 9

The corner of Anne’s mouth turning up with a queer look on her face. But it was just for a second before she put up a bashful face.

Jean did not notice that fleeting weird smile. “You have a boyfriend?” She asked.

Anne nodded shyly. “Uh-huh, we started just recently. When I have time, I will introduce him to you so that you can check him out for me.”

“Absolutely.”

She held Jean’s hand. “I will always be there for you, no matter what happens.”

Jean’s heart softened. She was independent and strong. But when someone was willing to stand by her, she still felt touched. “Thank you, Anne.”

“Don’t mention that. You are my best friend, remember?” Anne smiled.

The kind of best friend who could not wait to see her dead.

Past midnight. Club Elegance.

Etan heard a scream when he stepped into the room.

Jason Moss waved excitedly at him. “You have got to see this, bro. This chick is so wild. I like her.”

“You like her? Not a chance, man. If I were Patrick Mills and had such a hot girlfriend, I wouldn’t have messed around.”

“Oh, please, no way a wimp like Patrick Mills can control a woman like her.”

Etan looked down and just in time to see the TV footage, where Jean raised her hand and wiped off the lipstick. Her eyes were bright as if a fire was burning inside.

Her hot and wild demeanor captivated Etan.

He admitted Jean was hot, wild, yet pure and alluring.

She was that kind of woman every man dreamed of conquering, controlling, and turning into his woman.

“I am sure such a woman is not Etan’s cup of tea. This woman looks like she has itchy feet.”

“Absolutely. Anne is more suitable for Etan. She is clean.”

Etan had a strange feeling that he could not explain. “Enough, stop watching this,” he said with a frown.

Jason was excited. “I like her. Let me tell ya; she is mine now. You all keep your hands off her.”

Jason was cocky, just like any other day.

“Don’t you forget that you already have a fiancée,” Etan said as he sat down.

“Hey, bro, it is just for fun. You will not get serious with a woman like this, will you?”

“You can’t say for sure,” someone joked.

Etan was getting upset for no reason. He furrowed his brows, and his face darkened. “I said switch off that damn TV!”

Everyone else exchanged a look with each other, and then someone turned off the live broadcast.

Those who were here today were rich kids from prominent families in the city. But Etan was different from them.

Jason was the only one who called Etan his buddy. No one else dared to defy Etan.

As the tension rose in the room, Anne suddenly came in and said apologetically, “I’m sorry, I am late.”

And then everyone went ape.
