Chapter 12

Jean arrived at Club Elegance. When she mentioned Anne’s name, someone brought her to the room.

She was taken aback when she stepped into the room. Anne did not tell her on the phone that there would be so many people here.

She did not like the way those men leered at her. It disgusted her, making her feel naked.

“Oh, here is the superstar. Please come sit down here.”

Anne quickly got up and brought Jean in front of Etan. “This is Etan. Etan Mann.”

‘Etan Mann from the Mann family!’ Jean was surprised. She did not know that Anne’s boyfriend was Etan Mann, the eldest son of the Mann family.

She had long heard about Etan Mann, a name synonymous with the rich and the powerful in this city.

She now met him for the first time. Not that she had not seen men with such a good-looking face before—in fact, there were tons of such a man in show business. Yet her heart still fluttered involuntarily. She held out her hand to him. “Hello, I am Jean.”

Her burgundy nails contrasted with the fair skin of her fingers. She had that sultry look in her.

Etan gave her the once-over, but he did not seem to see her hand.

Etan’s reaction delighted Anne. “I’m sorry, Jean. Etan is fastidious. He doesn’t like to touch other women.”

And the underlying message was, she was the only one who was special to Etan.

Jean was nonchalant and gave a smile. “It is all right.”

Someone suddenly guffawed. “It doesn’t matter, Jean. We will make you happy.”

“They are all Etan’s friends and friendly. I heard you are in a dark mood, and so I invited you to chill out here,” Anne whispered.

Jean said nothing. She sat down at a spot farthest away from everyone else, just opposite Etan.

Jason shot a look at the woman sitting beside him. That woman got the hint and let out a smile. “Everyone has seen your wedding live broadcast, Jean. Now you look a bit pretentious by dressing so conservatively.”

Another woman echoed. “Exactly. Would you introduce me to a benefactor? I am tired of my work. I wish I could make money lying down like you.”

“Stop dreaming already. Do you think you are as hot as Jean?”

Jean clenched her hands when they became nasty. But she looked unusually calm on the outside as if they were not commenting about her.

“You guys have gone too far. Jean is not that kind of person. There must be some misunderstanding.” Anne was quietly delighted but pretended to be upset.

“Misunderstanding? Did someone force her to sleep with those men?”

“You all…”

Etan did not seem to care what happened around him as if it had nothing to do with him.

Jean knew Etan was the central figure of the party. Anne was his girlfriend, whose friend was now being bullied. Yet, he did nothing to stop this.

These rich kids had a natural sense of superiority and took pleasure in trampling on the dignity of others.

Picking up a wineglass on the table and taking a sip, Jean smashed the glass on the table. She then curled her finger to motion the woman who provoked her to bring it on. “You want to learn? Come here, and I will give you a free lesson.”
