Ella Michaels has dreamed of finding her mate for years and finally her eighteenth birthday is here, but nothing can prepare her for what is about to happen. Ella finds out on her first shift that she is not just any wolf but a white wolf that has been extinct for many years. The white wolf holds powers that could change the whole being of her kind if she is mated to the wrong wolf especially if he is an Alpha. Ella makes a choice to hide her wolf until she has found her mate or in her case mates. Will she be able to choose just one or will her heart and wolf be split on who to choose. This is book one of the Mates series.

Chapter 1
Ella’s POV As soft white transparent mist rose from the sparkling clear water, and the beautiful morning melody was being sung by the native birds, I sat on the large boulder that overlooked the majestic pond. The crisp autumn air filled my lungs, as a slight chill ran down my body till it reached the tips of my toes. I shivered as I pulled my leather jacket tighter around me trying to stop the cool breeze from penetrating through to my skin that was exposed to the elements. I found myself taking in the beautiful array of colors of the leaves that autumn had graciously provided. I took in a few more deep breaths as I thought about what could possibly happen. No, what hopefully will happen to me today. Today is not just any normal day for me. It actually is one of the biggest most important day of any werewolves’ life. It’s my eighteenth birthday the day I shift into my wolf and finally get to meet her for the first time. Tonight, when the moon is at its highest peak my body will sh

Chapter 2
Ella’s POV Slowly I climbed back onto the boulder which felt much warmer than this morning probably due to the sun’s heat beating off its satiny surface throughout the day. I found myself trying to hold back tears that were forming behind my eyelids. Tears that I did not want to spill all day while I was at school in front of all my peers. I felt like all my prayers to the Moon Goddess were for nothing over the last couple of years, and all my dreams of this day being the day just shattered to a million pieces just like my heart was feeling right now. Before I knew it warm liquid poured down my cool cheeks and I no longer could hold them back. I grabbed my chest trying to hold my heart thinking it would stop the emotional heartache I was feeling, but nothing I could do would comfort or stop it. Through blurred eyes I looked out at the pond as soft ripples formed on the surface due to the cool breeze of the evening air. With the sunset the autumn colors were being amplified and th

Ella’s POV The next morning came, and I woke up to the sun beaming through the crack in my purple silk curtains as it shined right into my eyes. I turned onto my side away from the window and pulled my down comforter up around my neck trying to cocoon myself in its warmth. My mind automatically started to go over the events that took place yesterday. One I didn’t find my mate and two my wolf. I grabbed the nearest thing I could get my hands on which was one of my decorative throw pillows and held it over my face in hopes that it would muffle my screams. I know that sounds a bit childish but after the day I had yesterday I thought I deserved that few seconds of release. I started to wonder last night before bed if the Moon Goddess was punishing me for something I did, but I thought long and hard and couldn’t come up with one thing that would cause her to punish me. I also tried to remember all the stories my mother had told me about the white wolves when I was a child. The stories m

Ella’s POV “Spill the beans. Is Chance your mate?” Samantha asked before I could take one step in the direction to our lockers. I almost choked on the air I was breathing into my lungs at Samantha’s question and began to cough. Did Samantha sense something between Chance and I too? The whole “I’ll be seeing you” and the look he gave me as he turned to get one last glance at me before he disappeared was making me have butterflies in my stomach. Not to mention the tingling sensations when he touched me and the getting lost when I looked into his eyes wasn’t enough. After I finally stopped coughing, I replied, “I could only wish.” Because the truth is I desperately did want a mate and Chance would be a perfect mate for me, but I don’t think he is my mate. It was only a partial connection. It was lacking something, but I couldn’t figure out what. Samantha frowned, “That’s too bad. I could have sworn I saw sparks between the two of you. Plus, he’s easy on the eyes.” “Yeah, there are

Ella’s POV The bell rang to the last period, and I grabbed my stuff and raced out of the class. I decided to take my backpack to my last class with me so I could get out of school as fast as I could. I was trying to avoid Chance if I could. It’s funny you know, trying to avoid a guy I’m so attracted to, but I didn’t want to have to have another conversation with him today until I had time to think things over. I found myself thinking about Chance the last couple of periods and what he had said at lunch. The one thing that was getting to me was that his wolf was going crazy when we were together, but my wolf didn’t even make a fight to surface. Knowing what kind of wolf I have within me, one would think that if she wanted out or wanted to express herself, I wouldn’t be able to hold her back. This made me feel confused on whether he was my mate or not because one would think that my wolf would stir if our mate was close. See not only is my mate mine in human form but my mate’s wolf i

Chance’s POV Last period bell rang finally, and I rushed out of the classroom and to my locker. What was I doing? Why was I acting this way? For Goddess’s sake I’m an Alpha to be and here I am rushing so I can get to a she wolf. Ever since this morning when I saved her from getting hit by a car my wolf has been on edge and it’s been hard to concentrate. This morning when I stood there looking at this dreadful high school from across the road wondering how long I would have to deal with this place and entertain my dear uncle’s s demands of me she appeared. I watch her walking towards me on the sidewalk with her head down lost in thought and I wondered to myself what she could be thinking about not to notice me standing in front of her. Every she wolf notices my presence but this girl she couldn’t give a damn that I’m standing here now only feet away but before she reaches me I hear another she wolf yelling a name from across the street. Barely looking up towards the other she wolf s

Ella’s POV We had just gotten home from our mother and daughter shopping trip. The sun had already set, and the moon hung high above us in the night sky. I could feel my wolf begging for me to let her out for a run. The full moon was approaching us, and I started to worry if I would be able to control her tomorrow night at the ball but then again this was the first that she has stirred since my shift last night. My mother and I decided to eat out before we came home since my father would be eating at the packhouse tonight. He was going to be late getting home he had told her with everything that needed done to prepare for tomorrow’s ball. We had decided on Italian and right now I was full of carbs and could really use a run to burn them off. The dress had fit like a glove, and I didn’t think before I ordered a big helping of linguine with alfredo sauce. Plus, I believe my mother and myself finished off a whole loaf of fresh baked bread. With my dress held high in my one hand and the

Ella’s POV I woke the next morning to the sound of my ringtone of my phone. Without opening my eyes, I reached for the phone which was laying on my nightstand. It took me a few tries to feel for it before I managed to get it. I hit the button to answer it without even looking at the caller id. “What.” Is all I could get out because I was still half asleep. “Is that anyway to answer your phone when your best friend is calling you with exciting news?” Samantha said with annoyance. I rolled over and yawned and rubbed my eyes and looked at my clock to see what time it was. It was eight am on a Saturday morning. Why on Goddess’s green earth would she be calling me at this hour. “Hello? Ella are you there?” Samantha asked. I decided to give into playing along with her since I was feeling a lot better after my last night talk with the Moon Goddess. “Good morning, Samantha. How is my best friend doing at eight am in the morning on a Saturday? This better be good waking me up this ear

Ella’s POV Standing in front of the full-length mirror in the corner of my bedroom I found myself mesmerized by my reflections. I couldn’t believe I was the person staring back at me. The stylist and makeup artist had done wonders making me go from teenager to woman in a matter of a few hours. Add in the sexy backless dress and I looked years beyond my age. I ran my hands down the sides of my dress and turned to the side wondering where the new curves had come from. Was it because I had shifted? I also noticed my breasts looked slightly fuller too as they filled the heartline of the dress. The heels that my mother had picked to accessorize with the dress added a few more inches to my height making my legs look longer and popped the muscles of my calves. I could have stood in front of the mirror for hours in awe of my new look, but I glanced at the clock noticing that the time had come for us to leave. Grabbing my phone off my bed I tucked into the shimmering silver clutch that my m

Chapter 10
Ella’s POV Chance pulled me back into him to finish the dance as I watched Hunter walk away from us. My wolf was whimpering wanting us to go to him, but I couldn’t just leave Chance in the middle of the dance. I started to feel nauseated by Chance’s arms that were now wrapped tightly around me like he had sensed something between Hunter and me. Or was it because Alpha males are protective of their mates? Either way I didn’t want to be in Chance arms any longer so when the song ended, I made an excuse that I needed to use the lady’s room. I looked back over my shoulder to make sure Chance wasn’t following me and was happy to see that he had struck up a conversation with Seth. Turning my head back to the direction I was heading the Luna appeared in front of me and I stopped abruptly stunned by her sudden appearance. “Is everything okay Ella?” The Luna asked with questioning eyes. I wondered if the Luna had witnessed the moment her son and I just shared with each other. “I’m fine.
