Waking up next to him - parte II

In the office Ana looked at the clock repeatedly, but it seemed like the time never passed and the headache only increased.

"I will never drink again,"

" Ana, I need you to translate this document into Italian by noon, can you do it? I'm going out for a while, but I won't be long," he left her alone in the room.

Carlos went to Marcos' room and called him.

"What do you want?" Marcos was upset that he had canceled the meeting he had set up with two women.

"Why are you in such a bad mood?"

he asked, entering the room.

"Do you still ask? You know how much I wanted to be with that woman and you blew me off."

"I was with Ana in a bar."

He sat down in front of Marcos.

That fast?

Marcos knew that every time he took a woman to a bar he always ended up spending the night with her.

" No, nothing happened!

"What do you mean nothing happened? My brother, you've been better," he stammered.

"That was my plan, but she was so drunk she fell asleep.

"I came here to ask if you have any medicine for headaches.

"You didn't get any and you still have a headache. - she laughed again.

" It's not for me, you idiot! It's for Ana.

" Be careful that you end up falling in love.

" Hahaha, very funny you! Are you or aren't you?

I have it! Let me see where I put it," he went through the first drawer of his desk, "here," Marcos handed him the medicine.

"Ask the cleaning lady to come to my apartment and tell her to throw away the sheets and clean them thoroughly, so that nothing remains of that woman.

"You are the boss.

Carlos returned to his office and found her concentrating on her work.

"Here", he put the medicine and a glass of water on the table.

Ana didn't know how she should react to this, but she couldn't deny that even in such a short time he had already moved her in some way. What she didn't know was in what way.

" Thank you! I needed that.

" I guess it was true about not drinking.

"I don't really drink, or rather, I can't drink.

"Why not?

"Because of some medicines I take.

" And what might they be?

Before she could answer, Marcos entered the room.

"Oops, sorry to interrupt, but I need you to take a look at this.

His expression was not good at all.

" What the hell does he think he's doing?

Ana could see a vein appear on Carlos' forehead after he saw what was on Marcos' cell phone.

" Now what should we do? - Marcos questioned.

"Now I have to control myself so that I don't end up hurting my own uncle.

There was an article announcing the sale of the shares by his uncle. - If he wanted to sell so badly, he should have talked to us first.

Since Carlos' family had decided to invest in the hotel business, no one was allowed to own shares except the family itself.

It was a way to keep the patrimony only among the Hernandes.

She didn't really understand the situation, but of one thing she was sure, she didn't want to be in his uncle's shoes.

"Ana, I will have to leave and I don't know if I will be able to come back, so I leave you in charge of canceling all my appointments and rescheduling them.

Carlos left before Ana could answer anything.

The workday was over and she could finally go home and rest.

She finished organizing her desk and Carlos' desk, picked up her purse and walked to the elevator.

" Taking care of the family business isn't easy," she whispered as she thought that she might have to go through something similar and probably wouldn't know how to handle it.

When she arrived at the hotel she found her father waiting for her.

"Daughter, can we talk?

Seeing the worried expression on his face, she decided to listen to him. - I know you are hurt by what I did, but I thought it was for the best, at least for the moment.

" You shouldn't have kept Mom's true situation from me. do you know how I felt seeing her like that?

"I know... I'm sorry for that! But darling, you have to understand, you were going through a very delicate moment, you were not well either, and this was the only solution I found at the time," his voice was cut off, "I lost a daughter, and almost lost the other one, my wife wasn't the same anymore, and all I wanted least was for you to suffer even more," John couldn't hold back his tears.

" You shouldn't have gone through this alone, dad, I could have helped you," Ana couldn't hold back her tears either, "you should have let me help you.

" With what? I know you are on daily medication, you can't stay in a room with a bathtub, I know about your nightmares and your constant visits to the psychiatrist. Sending you away was very painful, but keeping you here after all that has happened was much more frightening. To ask for one daughter was not willing to lose another."

Her father was right, Ana couldn't stand to see her mother like this for too long, blaming her even more for Sara's death.

Even though Ana knew it wasn't her fault, she couldn't help but feel this way.

After talking to her father, Ana couldn't sleep and again had to resort to her medicine. But she felt that this alone would not be enough, so she called upon the one who was always there when her soul was distressed and her spirit was sad.

"Clara, are you busy?"

" Did something happen?"

" I just needed to hear your voice."

"friend, if you want me to go, I can ask for some vacation days and if there is a flight tomorrow I will be there."

"It is not necessary, I have already taken some medication and in a short time it will take effect and I will be sleeping like a log."

The two talked for a few minutes and Ana fell asleep without even realizing it.

She woke up the next morning to the ringing of her cell phone, it was her boss.

" What a mess! I overslept!"

She said while waiting for Carlos to drop the call, but since he didn't, she decided to answer.

" I'm waiting here at the hotel door."

"I think you'd better go first, and then we'll meet at the company."

"We are not going to the company."

"No? And where are we going?"

"I have a contract to sign... Didn't I tell you yesterday?"

"No, I didn't."

" Well, now I'm telling you... we leave in ten minutes."

" This man has a horrible habit of turning me off from nothing! Ana, you don't have time to complain," she scolded herself.

She decided to put on a dress again, a more comfortable heel, and ran to where the car was.

"Good morning! Sorry I'm late."

was panting from the run.

"Have you been drinking again?"

"No, I haven't."

"Did you go out?"

"No, I just stayed at the hotel."

" Oh, if that's it, then everything's fine."

"Why?"

"I wouldn't want you to go out with someone else, especially not for a drink."

As he said this, he brushed his thumb across his lower lip as if he had been kissed.

"What does this crazy thing mean? I wonder if... not... If I had kissed him, I would have remembered... worse than not."

Involuntarily, his right leg began to wobble as he tried to remember what had happened that night.

"Did something happen?"

Ana felt Carlos' hand on her right leg. Realizing that she was looking at his hand, he removed it.

" Oh, no, it's nothing."
