Ana's return and the beginning of revenge

Ten years had passed since the tragic accident that took the life of the only woman Carlos had ever managed to love.

He couldn't deny that during those years other women had been a part of his life, but most of them had been nothing more than a casual night of sex.

Carlos longed for the day when he would find the one who had caused him so much pain and taken away the great love of his life. He would make her pay for all the wounds that not even a decade could heal.

"Carlos, busy?"

A tall, strong, tanned man entered the room with an envelope in his hand.

"Did somenthing happen, Marcos?"

Carlos moved his chair back a little and placed his arm on the table.

"Your wait is over...she's finally back."

Marcos placed the envelope on the table and Carlos took a few pictures of it.

"A ten-year wait has finally come to an end." He whispered.

He looked intently at the woman in those pictures.

"What do you intend to do?"

Marcos questioned, sitting down immediately after.

"What do you think?" he smiled.

"Man, as your best friend, I've supported you in all your decisions, but I don't think this is the best way, it won't do you any good."

As Carlos' best friend, Marcos couldn't help but worry, after all, feeding that kind of feeling did far more harm to him than it did to the person the hate was directed at.

"And what she did was right? Is not paying for her crimes right?"

He tapped the table with the pictures.

"Calm down, I just want you to think for a moment, it's been ten years, Carlos, ten years."

"Exactly! It's been ten years since she made my life hell. Ten years that I have suffered from losing the only woman I could love. You know how much I've suffered through it all, so please don't ask me to do nothing because I can't watch her being happy while the only person suffering in this story is me. The only thing I want is to do the justice that the law has failed to do."

His tone of voice and his eyes revealed the extent of the hatred he had harbored all these years.

"All right, man, do what you see fit, but don't say I didn't warn you.

Marcos withdrew from the room, leaving him alone.

"Where should I start, Ana?" he crumpled one of the photos.

Returning to her home country after that terrible accident was not in Ana Miller's plans, but because of her father's illness, she was forced to go back.

Ana did not want to go back to the place that caused her so much pain and left her so many marks, but she could not leave alone the only one who loved her when the whole world condemned her, including her own mother.

"Yes, Claire, I arrived fine...the flight was smooth!" She spoke through her cell phone to her best friend.

"If you feel like it's too hard, come back as soon as possible."

"I will!" Her smiled. "Claire, the driver is here, I'll call you back."

"Good morning, miss!" The driver opened the car door.

"Good morning!"

"I will take you to the hotel where you will stay."

Ana thought she would stay at her parents' house, but if her father thought it was better for her to stay at the hotel, she would too.

"Good afternoon!" Greeted the receptionist, "I don't know if my father has spoken to you...".

"Good afternoon! Yes, Mr. Miller has given us orders to see you." I said, interrupting her.

The receptionist handed her the key to the room where she would be staying, and Ana took the elevator.

"All I need now is a nice bath to relax" her left his luggage on the floor and walked toward the bathroom.

"He thought of everything!" whispered as he realized that there was no bathtub in his bathroom.

After the bath, her threw himself on the bed without drying his hair and fell asleep.

With her trembling hands full of blood, Ana tried to keep her concentration on the road while driving the family car under a thick rain.

Tears were running down her entire face and as much as she tried to keep her hopes up, her blood soaked hands on the steering wheel insisted on reminding her to go faster.

"Ana!" A female voice brought her out of her thoughts.

"It's going to be okay!" She replied without even looking back.

"Ana, I'm sorry."

The voice that called her before fell silent, causing Ana to take her eyes off the road, and for a split second she felt an impact that made her lose her senses.

At that moment, she felt something pull her, suddenly pulling her out of that terrible nightmare.

Her breath was short, and her whole body was sweaty.

Since the death of her sister in a terrible accident, Ana started having recurring nightmares about that day, but as time went by they disappeared, but returning to her country brought back what she just wanted so much to forget.

The next day, Ana got up late to have breakfast next to her father.

"If I run, maybe I'll make it!" She looked at her watch, grabbed her purse and ran to the elevator.

As she was leaving it she ended up bumping into a man, tall, strong, with dark hair and light eyes.

"Sorry."

"No problem."

He headed toward the place where he would have breakfast.

"Daughter!" John, her father, called out to her.

"Dad!" Unable to hide the happiness she was feeling at seeing him, she ran toward him and hugged him.

"Good morning!" A male voice interrupted them, it was the man Ana had bumped into coming out of the elevator.

"Sorry I'm late." The man smiled subtly.

"No need to apologize, we just got here a short time ago."

"Wow, he's handsome." She thought as she watched him more calmly.

"Daughter, this is Carlos Hernandez, my future business partner. Carlos, this is Ana, my daughter and also my future successor in business."

"Pleasure, Mrs. Ana." He extended his hand to her."

"Miss! She is still single." John interrupted him.

"Ah, since she is so beautiful, I thought she was already married." He looked at her as he kept his hand extended toward her.

"Pleasure, Mr. Carlos." Ana took his hand, greeting him with a light handshake.

"You can simply call me Carlos," she smiled.

John noticed the way Carlos looked at his daughter, and despite the age difference, he would like something to happen between the two of them. After all, Carlos was a good catch.

After everyone had placed their orders, Ana asked the reason for this meeting.

"As you know, daughter, your father is no longer the same. The doctor has recommended absolute rest and that means I need to abstain from all my work, but how can I do that if I don't have someone to take care of my business? So, I agreed to be Carlos' partner at least in this hotel because of his experience in the hotel business and in the hope that you can learn from him and one day take over not only this hotel, but the others as well."

"If I can." Carlos caught Ana's eye.

"Yes, of course!"

"Your father told me that you worked as a secretary in a big company in France."

"Yes, but it was nothing like a hotel."

"At the moment, I'm looking for a new secretary since mine stopped getting married."

"And you want me to be your secretary? Is that right?"

"Yes! But don't be offended...it's just an exchange of favors...while you work for me as a secretary, you learn how the hotel administration works."

Hearing this, Ana turned to her father and asked:

"Are you sure this is what you want, Dad?"

Ana didn't feel capable of such a thing.

"It would be a great opportunity! Carlos has been running his father's business since he was very young and has been successful at it."

John's interest in this partnership was clear.

"Wouldn't it be easier to hire a secretary according to your requirements?"

Ana turned her gaze to Carlos as he took another sip of coffee.

"To be honest, no! Have a whole interview process where not all of them have the criteria I require." He placed her right leg over his left.

"And what would they be?"

You have experience, you speak other languages, you have worked in another country, and you are also the daughter of my future partner. So I think you meet my requirements.

Carlos made sure to keep his eyes fixed on her.

"I don't know if I would be the right person in this case.

Ana was already uncomfortable with the way he was looking at her.

"I don't want to pressure you or anything like that. I just want to say that you would help me save the time I would spend interviewing other secretaries, and I help you take care of your father's business."

He smiled as he brought the cup to his mouth again.

"Great! I'll be going then. When the settlement paperwork is ready, I'll send it to your residence. Ana, it was a pleasure meeting you." Carlos left them alone.

"I know it's not what you want, but I can't let all the work of a lifetime go to waste...you understand, don't you, dear?" John took her hand.

"Then in that case I'll do my best."

It wasn't what she wanted, but she couldn't let her father worry.
