It’s been six months since Grant and her mother have seen Stacey properly. They did go up for the open house day, two months ago. But it was too short and if anything, they just missed her more. The therapy was going well she was remembering more and more but she still referred to Stacey as the third person. Liz had explained that it was her last string to cut. She is apprehensive, so was finding it hard to let go of that final piece of Amber. They are together again, planning another video to send her. “We could do another baking video, let’s bake her some of the coconut squares that Stacey loved?” Grant suggests to her mother. They were sitting in the coffee shop near the entrance of her mother’s apartment. Grant had made the decision about four months ago to buy there too. He now lived in the third block of apartments, that was furthest away from the entrance of their gated community. But closer to the small lake, park and trails. He had become much closer to her mother
The day started like any other for Stacey Greenbank. Since starting a relationship with Grant Muster. On waking she'd send him a voice message saying good morning and that she will see him soon. She would then go wash and make them their packed lunch. She wasn't big on breakfast so often skipped it.She loved her job, helping to design and create new learning toys for children with disabilities. That is where she met Grant nearly two years ago now. It had been her second day there when he had literally knocked her to the ground by turning around quickly and knocking into her.He had apologised and held out his hand. It wasn't until she looked up into his clear light blue eyes that she had been struck at how handsome he was. Then she had realised he was holding a white cane and that he was blind or pratically sighted. That was the start of their relationship. Stacey had confessed to him three months later and they'd started to date.Stacey had loved the fact that he had wante
"Sweetheart, go back and check on him? I can see you are worried. I'm fine, in fact I'd like sometime on my own" her mother says sick of watching her daughter sit only to get up seconds later and start pacing again."Are you sure?" Stacey asks, at her mother’s nod though she kisses her mother on the head before she running up the stairs to her childhood room. She's back down in no time with a jacket and her bag "I'll be back later or early tomorrow. I’ve got my phone, call if you need me" she promises her mother as she kisses her cheek before heading out the door. Her mother breaths a sigh of relief, as she hopes Grant will be able to help her greave in a good way. Because at the moment she is like a zombie.Stacey’s trip back is a lot easier than the one going as she catches the train with no difficulties. She knocks on Grants apartment door, when he doesn't answer she keys in the code and enters. She finds him in his bedroom with his headphones on listening to something. He smi
Her mother covers her mouth with her hand and stares at the doctor wide eyed "Amber was the name of her twin sister. She died at the age of two from heart problems" she explains"I see, then that might explain what she said next" the doctor says"I asked her if she knew why she was in hospital? To which she answered that her sister had died in order for her to have her heart" Stacey's mother gasps on hearing this and her hand goes to cover her own heart."Why would she think that?" she asks"We heard that she was very upset when she ran out onto the road from her initial accident. It's my belief that she suffered a traumatic experience mentally before having one physically. We'll have to get a professional over to talk to her, to find out for sure" he tells her.He also recommends not saying to much about it until they've tested her more. Her mother goes back to Stacey’s room and feels like she is walking on eggshells as she doesn't know what is safe to talk about. When the Psychiatr
Amber nods towards them "Hello, nice to meet you" she says politely. "Amber? Amber Greenbank? Not Stacey Greenbank?" Grant asks her, Clive and his wife seem a little startled by him mentioning Stacey's name and move closer to Amber subconsciously."You knew my sister? I'm sorry she is no longer with us. She was in a fatal car accident some years ago" Amber explains"No longer here? She's dead? When did she die exactly?" Grant demands bit loudly."I was unwell at the time, but my mother said she died after coming to the city to visit an ungrateful man, just over 3 years ago, that might have caused her accident" Amber answers him.Grant goes pale and sits down heavily on a chair. Clive and his wife share a look and he shake’s his head a little so, she doesn’t say anything."Are you alright, Grant?" his friend Marcus asks him."Yes, but I don't feel too good so, if it's alright with you, I'd like to go home?" Grant asks"Of course, if you're not feeling well, then you must go home. A
Over the next few days Amber finds herself thinking about Grant and wondering if he’s okay. Which again surprises her, as she isn’t normally someone that worries about others too much. Near the end of the week, Marcus calls to say he might have a joint project she maybe interested in. It’s a school build for special needs and they want to showcase the new technology now employed that can help learning, development as well as helping in everyday life to aid in final independence of each individual who attend the school.Amber is excited to hear about the project and arranges to meet him and some others that will help in its design. The expected completion time is 2 years, so Amber spends the weekend organising her current projects so, she can finish them quicker in order to focus more on the joint project. Sunday afternoon she gets a call from Grant asking if she is free to meet and have coffee. Thinking it is about the joint project she agrees to meet him at a coffee shop near
Grant has two days of anxiously waiting to see if Amber’s doctor will call. But he’s enjoyed the banter in the new group chat for the joint project he’s joined with Marcus and Amber as well as a few others. As the group chat has already been set and it’s become very lively these last few days. He’s discovered that Amber seems a little more serious than Stacey was in the past. But she has a dry sense of humour that he finds fascinating. The doctor finally called him on the second day after meeting with Karen. She told him that she couldn’t discuss Amber’s case with him, but she could say that he should get to know Amber as though she was a new person to him. That even by doing that it might trigger some buried memories for her. She also cautioned him not to make comparisons between the two, as Stacey really believes she is Amber now. He had thanked her and asked if he could call her if he had some more questions or concerns? She had agreed, but ask him to text her andshe would ca
Grant answers a few urgent emails and makes a number of calls before telling his assistant that he will see him at the joint meeting later. “If anyone asks, I’m in a meeting and will be for the rest of the day. Take a message or number and I’ll get back to them as soon as I can” he instructs before leaving to meet Amber. Seeing Jane walking towards him he decides to take the stairs quickly. He's sorry he ever agreed to allow her to follow him from the publishing company he worked in with Stacey to his parents company. As he leaves he wonders why his mother seems so against him working on the joint project and how she found out so quickly. His mind throws a hundred possibilities at him, but he's learnt not to jump to conclusions. He'll be more vigilant from now on and also try and talk to his mother once he's got his thoughts in order. When he draws up outside her company, he see’s her waiting outside and gets out to open her door. “Thank you, I hear there is congestion on 6th.
