Chapter 15- From riches to rag

Welbeck trudged along the dimly lit streets, his feet heavy with exhaustion. The weight of countless job applications weighed on his shoulders, their rejections echoing in his mind. It had been months since he lost his previous job, and despite his best efforts, he couldn't seem to catch a break.

The sun had long set, leaving behind a desolate landscape that mirrored the emptiness in Welbeck's heart. The street lights flickered, casting eerie shadows that danced along the cracked pavement. He had spent the day tirelessly searching for any opportunity that would restore his sense of purpose, but each door had been slammed shut, each phone call met with a polite rejection.

With a heavy sigh, Welbeck finally arrived at his mother-in-law's apartment building. Weariness seeped into his bones as he trudged up the stairs, his steps slow and unsteady. The weight of his failures pressed against his chest, making it difficult to breathe. Welbeck's hopelessness clung to him like a second skin.
