Chapter 003

Welbeck was a man in his early thirties, who was deeply in love with his girlfriend, Keira. They had been dating for two years and had finally

decided to take their relationship to the next level and get married.

Welbeck was excited about their upcoming wedding and couldn't stop talking about it. He would bring it up every time they sat down to eat, and he would go on and on about how he

wanted it to be the best day of their lives.

However, Keira was becoming increasingly

worried about the cost of the wedding. She knew that Welbeck had a good job, but she also knew that he had some debts and was struggling to save enough money for a lavish wedding.

Keira tried to talk to Welbeck about her concerns, buthe brushed them off, saying that he wanted to

give her the wedding of her dreams. He even started making plans for a destination wedding in a tropical paradise, which would cost a fortune.

Keira tried to explain to Welbeck that she didn't need an extravagant wedding to be happy. She just

wanted to be married to him and start their life together. But Welbeck was so caught up in his vision of the perfect wedding that he couldn't

see her point of view.

As the wedding planning continued, Keira became more and more anxious about the cost. She started to research cheaper options and suggested that they have a small, intimate wedding with just their close family and friends.

But Welbeck wasn't having it. He wanted the big wedding, with the fancy venue, the gourmet

food, and the extravagant decorations. He even started to get defensive when Keira brought up the cost, telling her that it was his money and he

could spend it however he wanted.

Keira felt like she was being ignored and that her opinions didn't matter. She loved Welbeck, but she didn't want to start their marriage with a huge amount of debt.

Eventually, Keira had to put her foot down. She told Welbeck that she couldn't go through with the

wedding if it meant starting their marriage in financial trouble. She wanted to be with him, but the wedding was becoming a source of stress and tension between them.

Welbeck was taken aback by her ultimatum. He had never realized how much the cost of the wedding was affecting her. He loved her and didn't want to lose her over something as trivial.

 He knew there was a lot of money but his presence made them feel like he did not have much.

 Welbeck was driving home from work on a beautiful summer afternoon. The sun was shining brightly, the birds were chirping, and the air smelled fresh and clean. He couldn't wait to get home and change into something more comfortable before meeting his in-laws. They were coming over for dinner, and Welbeck wanted everything to be perfect.

As Welbeck drove, his mind began to wander. He started to think about his in-laws and how he first met them. It was at a family gathering, and they had all hit it off immediately. Welbeck was grateful to have such wonderful in-laws, and he wanted to make sure they felt welcomed in his home.

As he approached his house, he noticed that his lawn needed to be mowed. He quickly parked his car in the garage and ran into the house to change clothes. After changing, he went right back outside to mow the lawn.

While he was mowing the lawn, he realized that he was running low on gas. He decided to drive to the gas station, which was a few blocks away, to fill up his tank. As he was driving down the street, he suddenly heard a loud noise. His car had hit something in the road, and he pulled over to inspect the damage.

To his dismay, he found that one of his tires had blown out. He quickly reached for his phone to call for help but realized that he had left it at home. Feeling frustrated and helpless, he didn't know what to do.

As he stood there on the side of the road, a friendly stranger pulled up and offered to help. The stranger introduced himself as Jake and he helped Welbeck change the tire. Welbeck was grateful for the stranger's assistance and thanked him before getting back on the road.

Welbeck finally made it home, feeling relieved that he didn't miss his in-laws' meeting. As soon as he walked in the door, he was hit with the delightful aroma of Keira's Cooking. Keira was in the kitchen, putting the finishing touches on a delicious meal.

The doorbell rang, and Welbeck quickly went to answer it. He opened the door to find one of his co-workers standing there, big smiles on their faces.

 He hugged him warmly and congratulated him on his beautiful home and lawn. Welbeck smiled back, relieved that everything was finally falling into place.

The evening went smoothly, with everyone enjoying the delicious food and the lively conversation. At the end of the night, Anthony thanked him for a wonderful evening, and Welbeck knew that he had made a good impression.

He climbed into bed that afternoon tired but happy, Welbeck thought about how lucky he was to have such a fiance and he was eager to meet her parents.

However, he was grateful to the stranger who had helped him change his tire. He drifted off to have a nap, looking forward to many more pleasant evenings with his family.

 He woke up later and refreshed himself.

Keira was already preparing herself to meet her parents with Welbeck.

 Welbeck's Pov.

As we arrived at my fiance's parent's house, I couldn't help but feel nervous. Meeting the in-laws is always a nerve-wracking experience, but it's even more daunting when you're a son-in-law to a wealthy family.

As we entered the mansion, I was greeted by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Smith. They were both gracious and welcoming, and I immediately felt at ease. The Smiths were a warm and friendly couple, and they made me feel like a part of the family right from the start.

As we sat down to dinner, Bernard Bernard Smith began to ask me about my background and my career. I told him about my humble beginnings and how I had worked hard to build a successful business. He seemed impressed and offered me some advice on managing wealth and investing wisely.

As we continued talking, I began to understand the values that were important to the Andersons. They valued hard work, dedication, and a commitment to excellence, which was evident in everything they did. I could also see how much they cared about their family and community, and how important it was to them to use their wealth for good.

After dinner, Mrs. Bernard Smith invited us to see their art collection. As we walked through the gallery, I was blown away by the beauty and rarity of the pieces on display. It was clear that Bernard Smith had an appreciation for fine art and a deep understanding of its significance.

I had always been a hard-working man and had a steady job in a respectable company. I had provided well for my fiance. However, my mother-in-law, Mrs. Bernard Smith, was not thrilled with my style of dressing.

Whenever Mr. Bernard Smith tries to appreciate the way I am, she never fails to comment on my clothes. "Welbeck, aren't you going to change out of those old-fashioned jeans?" or "Why are you still wearing that ratty t-shirt?"

 Mrs. Bernard Smith said.

At first, I tried to brush off her comments, thinking she was just being a typical critical mother-in-law. But as time went by, her comments began to get to me. I started to feel self-conscious and insecure about the way I dressed.

 I asked Keira about it, and she simply shrugged her shoulders and said, "That's just how my mom is. She's always been snobby about appearances."

 I tried to ignore Mrs. Bernard Smith's comment. I began to wonder if I should invest more in my wardrobe but that wasn't necessary.

Maybe I should buy a new suit or dress shoes.

I muttered to myself and shook my head in disdain.

 "No, I have a reason for everything I do, it seems good with the way I've secretly lowered myself".

 As I thought about it more, I realized he didn't care about impressing my mother-in-law. I loved his old jeans and T-shirts. They were comfortable, and casual, and reflected who I am.

I decided to stick to his usual wardrobe and not let Mrs. Smith's opinion of him affect him anymore. After all, I was a hardworking man who provided for my family and had a loving wife-to-be who accepted him for who he was. What more could he ask for?

As we left their house that evening, I felt grateful for the opportunity to meet such kind and generous people even though Mrs. Smith behaved differently toward me. I also felt a sense of relief knowing that Keira's parents approved of me and our relationship and I was willing to marry her.

 "Take care, my daughter, I hope you feel comfortable with this man of yours".

 Keira's mother said that but I pretended not to have heard what she said.

 The words of the old man kept ringing in my ears so nothing was going to let me down.

 A trillionaire as his husband was, she thought they had everything than anyone else in the world.

 I gasped for breath and made my way off from the house as I walked straight to my car to my house.

 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
As Welbeck walked through the door of his apartment, he immediately felt exhausted. He couldn’t put his finger on exactly why he felt so drained, but he assumed it had something to do with the visit he had just made to his fiance’s parents' home.
It wasn’t that Welbeck didn’t love his fiance, Keira. She was the light of his life, the woman he had been waiting for his whole life. But her parents were a different story.
From the moment he had met them, Welbeck had the feeling that they didn’t approve of him. They were quiet and distant, offering only tepid niceties and never really engaging him in conversation. It was painfully clear that they thought he wasn’t good enough for their daughter.
Welbeck tried his best to make a good impression. He didn't dress in his suit or a bottle of expensive wine, but he made sure to listen attentively to everything they said. All seemed to fall flat, and by the time he left their house, he felt like he had failed miserably.
Now, as he collapsed onto the couch in his living room, Welbeck wondered how he was ever going to make it through the rest of his life with these people as his in-laws. He loved Keira more than anything in the world, but the thought of being constantly judged and scrutinized by her parents made him feel like he was suffocating.
As he lay there, lost in thought, Welbeck suddenly heard the sound of the front door opening. He sat up and saw Keira walking through the door, her face alight with happiness.
"Hey, you’re sleeping!" she said, coming over to kiss him.
Welbeck smiled weakly and tried to muster up some enthusiasm. "Yeah, I’m back. How was your day?"
 Keira launched into an excited speech about everything she had done that day, but Welbeck found it hard to pay attention. He felt like he was in a fog, unable to shake off the exhaustion that had settled over him.
And then, suddenly, he felt Keira’s hand on his shoulder. "Hey, are you okay?" she asked, concern etched on her face.
Welbeck looked up at her, feeling helpless and vulnerable. "I don’t know, Meg. I just feel so tired. I think it’s your parents."
 Keira looked at him for a long moment, and he could see the wheels turning in her head. And then, slowly, she smiled. "Well, you know what we should do, then?" she said. "We should go out and do something fun. Just the two of us. Forget about my parents and their nonsense."
Welbeck felt a faint glimmer of hope. "What do you have in mind?"
 Keira grinned. "How about we go ice skating? There’s a rink downtown that just opened up. We could grab some hot chocolate afterward."
Welbeck felt himself starting to smile. "That sounds great."
As they got ready to leave, Welbeck felt the exhaustion starting to lift. With Keira by his side, he felt like he could conquer anything. And even if her parents never accepted him, he knew that he had the most important thing of all: Keira’s love.
Together, they stepped out into the cool winter night, ready to make new memories and forget all about the stress of the day.
Keira did not want Welbeck to remember what her Mom did to him but it seems he was still thinking about it.
 Since he loved Welbeck, she was still going to do everything to keep her man.
She smiles and rests her head on his shoulder as they stand watch the stars in the sky.
