Chapter5:To meet again with desire

Friday afternoon, Lola said goodbye to her crew earlier than usual, She has to go home early and get ready, she plans to take an earlier train tonight instead of taking the 7 pm schedule like she usually did in the past weeks she will take the 6, she just want to go early and do some walking around the city to calm her nerves before she goes to the spot.

While she was getting dressed she looked at herself again in the mirror making sure that everything is perfect, she wants to make an impression and make sure that she is attractive enough not to be refused. She smiled back at her in the mirror, she actually looks good, she never looked at herself this way before, but she realized she can be sultry if she wanted to. Tonight she will give her best, hopefully he will be there.

In an apartment in the upper east side of Manhattan, Matthew is getting ready to go back to the same club where she met lola, hoping she is a regular at the place, he has no way of knowing if she is, because last time he was there was his first time to go, He just got back in the country after many years of working abroad. And last week he only decided to go clubbing because he was jet lagged and couldn’t sleep. Hopefully lola will be there. Thought of seeing her again made him smile.

When Lola arrived in Manhattan she went for a little window shopping first and walked around, she seems to feel more nervous than usual, and she doesn’t want that to show she needs to look confident and feel confident or else she will not be able to go through her plan. So she walked and walked until she was calm enough it was almost midnight when she finally entered the bar. She didn’t want to look so obvious that she is looking for someone, so she headed straight to where she was situated last time at the far corner of the bar and luckily it was not crowded in that area and a few stools were available. So she sat down and ordered a drink, and she raised her martini glass to take a sip, she scanned the room quickly, to her disappointment the guy is nowhere in sight, well maybe he is not a regular after all, or maybe he is not yet here, if she remembers it right it was already almost 2 am the last time she decided to leave the bar that is when he picked him up. Maybe a little later. Or maybe never! Her disappointment is getting really serious, what if she never sees him again, will she have to start looking for a new guy all over again, but he is already perfect, he wants to take the chance with this guy, he felt positive about him. She decided to stay a little bit longer and take her chances, she went easy with he drinking she doesn’t want to get accidentally drunk again, she walked around a bit smiled and turned down anyone who tried to hit on her, she is no longer looking for just any man, he already found the one, but what is she gonna do if she never meets him again, she knows where he lives, but she can’t go knocking at his door, can she? The guy was nice, but she doesn’t know anything about him at all, she is interested with him physically only, nothing else. She doesn’t want to start all over again, but what can she do if she doesn’t see him again. Time seem to have gone quite fast and it is already past midnight, maybe she should start heading out already, she can book an Uber now and just wait for it outside.

Matthew was sitting at a dark corner of the bar close to the entrance where he can watch Lola. He’s been in that corner since he arrived, and he watched her come in a little after he came in, she looks really pretty like before but today she is a bit more put together, she had some light make up on, she seem to have no interest in anyone, he saw a few tried to hit on her but she is quick to dismiss them, His curiosity has been aroused, he wants to know her a little bit more, For sure she wont dismiss him like the others if he approaches her, She owes her at least for getting her out of trouble last time.

He decided to just watch her her for a while and wait for the right time to approach.

Lola was calling the bar tender for last drink and to pay her bill when she heard a familiar voice behind him. “hi nice to see you here again and I’m glad you’re not too drunk yet”. He said to try to struck a light conversation. She felt something light up inside her, and it made her smile. She turned around and flashed her best smile. But she was not able to say anything at all, she just raised the martini in her hand and took a sip, Matthew told the bar tender to put the ladies Tab under his. Which the young guy agreed to do, and he took Matthew’s card. He then turned to lola who is still a bit seem to be star struck by his presence. He asked her if she’s been there for a while which she finally managed to answer. “Not yet very long, fancy seeing you here again “ she said. This made him smile. They talked for a while and drinked some more, and lola realized she doesn’t have a plan on how to go about the next step, she’s been flirting a bit, but she doesn’t know what to do next. So she just sat there and hoping that the guy would make a move, but as of the moment he is just plain friendly. What should she do now.

She waved for another drink, hoping this will numb her a little maybe she can make the move. But Matthew stood up and told the guy in the bar that that would be all for the night. And gestured to Lola to take his arm and walk outside, which she gladly obliged.

Once they were outside, He offered to take her to one of the restaurant in the area for a very late dinner, She gladly agreed to go, she just realize she haven’t had dinner too.

“I’ll treat you to dinner and have a proper drink of wine, in return you have to tell me something about you” he said, she just smiled back. They ended up at a nice cozy Italian restaurant, where they a simple pasta dish and a glass of wine, she could hardly eat her meal her stomach is in knots she is starting to feel nervous again. So she concentrated on her wine. “Well, now you can tell me more about you were almost done with dinner.” Tell me what what you want to know” she replied” She reminded herself not to give so much information since this is a temporary thing only, if possible just go ahead and lie.

“Well, since I already know you name how about more information, where in the city are you from, what are the things that interest you? Anything under the sun just give me something!” He said. Actually I don’t give much information about me to strangers, but since you seem to be a nice person, and of course I owe you for taking care of me last time and now I owe you a dinner, I will let you call me by my name, alright? Is that a deal? “And you can call me by my name as well! That is a deal” he replied. He seem to understand that she doesn’t want to give out any personal information at all. And she felt relieved. They finished their food and paid the bill and headed back out in the street. He asked if he needs to call for a ride for her, and she replied she can book one for herself, now she is panicking she can’t go home now, what if this is her only chance, what is she gonna do? She pretended to check her phone and pulled up the uber app, if things don’t go well she will again be on an uber ride back home with nothing. She raised her eyes and was about to say she will book an uber, when Matthew suddenly grabbed her by the waist and pulled her up for a quick kiss on the lips, he smiled at him and she smiled back, they hailed a taxi and Matthew gave him his address, the taxi ride back to Matthews place was quite and tense but filled with anticipation. Her heart is pounding so loud she can almost hear it.
