LOVE ACROSS THE DIVIDE: 001

If there was anything I despised more than the weekly pack meetings, it was having this sort of discussion with my dad as we are having now.

But he didn't seem to notice my obvious discomfort and disinterest, as he talked on and on about the rival species in the city

Sigh

I watched him, trying to show him my mood which screamed 'bored' on my face, but no luck in getting him to see that I was no way interested in hearing about how evil the Lycans were.

He was barely looking at my face, hands all waving as he placed round his huge room.

When I heard from his Beta that he was calling me, I had thought that he wanted to at least wish me a happy birthday for once, not for me to sit one hour listening to this.

"Dad," I called out finally, interrupting him before he could launch into a popular story of how the Lycans caused the death of my mother.

He paused to stare at me.

"You know this is ridiculous right? I mean, we are all almost the same species. Why the long feud?" I asked, and his brows creased.

"That does not make them one of us, Lora. Not by any chance" He growled and I rolled my eyes.

"Technically it does dad"

"Lola, can you listen—--"

"You know what dad?" I have had enough. "I get it. I really do. Lycans? Total evil. Not like there's any way I can communicate with them, seeing as I'm a prisoner in my own father's house. Can I go to my room now? I have something important to do" I said, getting up from the bed and heading to the door without waiting for his reply.

When I got to the door, I placed my hand on the knob and turned back to look at him.

"I was actually hoping that for once, you would remember and wish me a happy birthday." I whispered watching his hard face. But he didn't even twitch an eye. His face remained hard as he stared back at me.

"Right," I nodded and left the room.

As I walked the short distance between his room and mine, I didn't even bother to stop and stare around the compound like I used to.

I saw two ladies whispering in hushed tones, and they stopped immediately when they saw me.

Again, I don't even care.

"Good Morning Lora," They both whispered, bowing a little and I completely ignored them.

Fucking hypocrites. I mutter under my breath, knowing that they could hear me. I could smell their animosity from a mile away. Why try to put up a good face when they know that I can easily Smell out their feelings? Bitches.

I got to my room and locked my door tight.

But before I could go to my reading table, a package on my bed caught my eyes. A wrapped box with a pink ribbon.

A birthday present?

But my instincts shot up immediately and somehow, I already knew what it was.

I opened up the box quickly and wasn't even surprised when I saw the content. Nor did I bother to think how it got here, since my door was always locked.

But this shit was really starting to get me worried.

I picked up my picture in the box that had blood splattered over it and frowned, as I looked at the picture of me smiling at something, wearing an orange polo.

This picture was taken yesterday in the market. I had sneaked out to get a book for myself, and didn't seem to notice that there

was someone following me

This should be the fifth I'm receiving in two weeks.

The question is why?

Why was someone threatening my life?

At first, I thought it was the Lycans. But I had sniffed the letters the first three times, and even though the culprit was masking their scents in some way, I could still smell the Wolf on it.

I turned the picture over and saw a note scripted on it.

"Watch your back Lora. We are coming for you soon. Mark these words. And when we do, nothing can save you. Not even your dad, and not even your strength."

But why would someone in my pack be coming after me?

I mean, they had always had a thing against me. A thing I don't know, and stopped caring about a long time ago.

But has it gotten to the point of wanting to take me out?

I placed the picture back inside the box and sat on the box, trying My best to ignore the shiver down my spine. But I can't exactly ignore this imposing danger.

No

I need help. But who exactly could I turn to at this point?

Definitely nobody in the pack, because I don't even know who was behind this. Anyone could be responsible for this, and I can't even go to my dad.

Which leaves just one option on the table.

"Oh, hell no, Lora," I whispered. How did I even think of that?

Trying hard to wave it off, I went to my reading table and picked up the book I bought yesterday.

But even as I glanced through the words, the thought kept ringing in my head over and over again.

My wolf could be stubborn when she puts her mind to it.

But why is she even bringing this up, or thinking about it?

"There has to be another solution. This absurd" I whispered again.

"Danger!!" The word rang loud in my mind and angrily and Said that word again.

What the heck?

I don't even know how much danger I'm in, but once shanty becomes insistent about something, it's never good. And that scares me more than anything.

This situation is much Worse than I thought. I flinched again when the same word kept ringing in my head.

"This is very ridiculous." I whisper again.

"How's that even going to be possible?"

How on earth does a werewolf go to ask for help from Lycans?

Number one, my father would kill me if he heard that. And I can't even get out of the house without his guards following me around, though I managed to yesterday.

Number two, there's no way the Lycans would agree to help me out. Especially if they know who I am, where I come from. They would kill me on the spot.

How on earth does this make sense?

But my shanty was adamant.

"Lycans…help. Lycans ...help"

Hell, if my wolf says so, I guess that's what I'm left with.

The fact she's suggesting it means she's seen that there's a possibility.

Now I guess I'm going to be asking the enemy for help.

Fuck me very much.
