CHAPTER 003: The Hunter

AGATHA’s P.O.V.

The continuation…

“Are you alright?” Athena asked me, immediately taking my attention from the man that I just saw earlier.

As I immediately came back to my senses, I realized that maybe I am having a daydream after seeing that guy. When I turned around to check if he is still there, he is already gone. I froze, unable to speak up. But then, I took a deep breath, facing Athena once again.

“Yes, I’m fine. Everything is alright.”

“Are you sure? Because you seems dazed, a few moments ago.”

“Really?” I asked her sarcastically, but unfortunately, it seems like they don’t understand that gestures in this place.

“Yes. Your eyes are… I don’t know. It seems weird. Like, you had a premonition or something… That is how our eyes turned out the first time that we saw our mates,” she lengthy explained, confusing me in the process.

“Mates? What do you mean?”

”Oh, you probably don’t know about that yet. You are one of those lost refugee, after all. Don’t worry, all the basics will be taught to the new students later on. That is why you are here, in this University.”

I tried to give her a little smile, one that surprisingly, she returned. I didn’t know that my arrival here will be a little warmer than I expected it to be. I sighed, before she looked at me, her hands raised sideward as if pointing towards another direction.

“So, shall we go then? I hope you are excited to meet your roommate,” she stated, before smiling.

“Of course. Let’s go then.”

She nodded, before both of us started to walk away from that place… The place where I first saw that mysterious man that somehow, I got attached to even though in a short span of time. Agatha and I entered a dark hallways in the West wing of the building in what seems to be a dormitory for the students in this University. After leading me to the place, she stopped by a door, before turning to face me once again.

“So, this is it. Let’s see. Cali Demetri. You are lucky, I guess. She is the sister of our leader’s most trusted subordinate. You will be safe here, Agatha.”

“Thank you, for leading me here. I can take care of myself from here,” I tried to assure her, but she just shook her head, her eyes gleaming at the tiny light by the side of the hallway.

“It’s my duty to make sure that every vampire will be comfortable after they arrived in here. So I have to say hi to Cali,” she said, before knocking upon the door without even allowing me to say anything else.

I got a feeling that there is something more behind her being friendly to a new member of this University. If I got it right, Cali, my supposed to be roommate, is the sister of their leader’s most trusted subordinate, meaning that if I am lucky enough, I would be able to gain as much information as I can.

I immediately came back to my senses the moment that the door swing open. And there she is, Cali. Her hair is short and spiky, and I could see the enthusiasm upon her dark, red eyes. She frowned the moment that she saw Athena, but then, I saw her eyes lit up the moment that it landed upon me. She smiled, a timid but genuine one.

“Hi! Are you the new student here?” she greeted me.

“Yes, I am–”

“She is. Her name is Agatha. I took her here. She will be your new roommate,” Athena emphasized.

“Let her talk, Athena… And you know what, it would be better if you will allow me to do my job as her new roommate. I will take care of her from here,” she coldly responded, before gently pulling me inside of the room.

“Are you sure? You don’t want me to–”

“We are going to be fine,” she cut her statement off, before closing the door shut in front of her face.

“Why did you do that?” I asked, confused for the very first time.

“We are not in good terms. Let’s just say that… My brother thought that she was his mate. But turns out, she is just using him to get close to our leader.”

“Your leader? Who?”

“You don’t know him? The Hunter. That’s his name. He is the leader and the face behind this University. You have to remember that,” Cali reminded me. “Oh, and before I forgot, I have to introduce myself properly. I am Cali, Cali Demetri. And you are?” She tilted her head, looking at my direction and as if waiting for my response.

“Agatha. Agatha Fate Santillan. Like what Athena have mentioned earlier, I am new here.”

Cali nodded her head several times, before pulling my bags to the side. She then showed me another bed, fixed across her own that made me smile out of nowhere. It was already cleaned, tidy, and looking like a newly bought furniture from the malls.

“This is your bed. And don’t worry. You will be safe here. Just follow the rules and regulations of the University and I’m sure that you will be fine,” Cali added, instructing me.

“Thank you. For being a nice roommate to me.”

“Of course, anytime. And I’m sure that we will be a great friends too. You see, the first time I saw you, I eventually think that we could be something more… You look nice and… Full of life.”

“Full of life?” I asked her, my voice sounded shocked more than what I expected it to be.

“Yeah. Please don’t be offended by this but, I actually think that you are a full blooded human at first,” she muttered under her breath, almost inaudible.

I froze. I knew it, something is wrong in this place. They are not humans. I still don’t know what they are, but I’m sure that I’m about to find out soon.

“That’s insane,” I nervously laughed at her, trying to act as if I am not nervous by her sudden questions.

“So… You’re a half breed?” she asked me, eyes fixed upon my direction.

“Uhm…” I trailed off, unsure of what to say. How can I possibly knew what to answer in that question?

“Come on, Agatha. Don’t be shy. I’m sure that you are not a cold hearted vampire either since I can hear your pulse. So, which of your parents are member of the coven?” she asked once again, confusing me in every way.

I don’t know what to respond. I was stunned and speechless by her words, and I didn’t know that all these time, what I was thinking is real… That there is indeed a world full of monsters that I only found on some books before. I just confirmed what I’ve been suspecting ever since the moment that I’ve lost my parents… That their killers… They are cold hearted, blood thirsty vampires.

To be continued in Agatha’s next point of view...
