- Chapter three - THE WITNESS

Phoenix’s POV

Sebastian took a deep breath, and he spoke, “Nate is so annoying; he still made a mess even though he is already dead!” He angrily said, which made me look at him.

“What did you say?” I asked him. My blood quickly went to my head.

He looked at me irritably, and he spoke, “Did I lie?” He asked sarcastically to me.

“Sebastian!” Melody intervened, “Stop!” She said to Sebastian. He just laughed and glanced at her irritably instead of following what she said.

“So, is it my fault?” He asked sarcastically and glanced at me, “It’s your brother’s fault!” He retorted. So, my body moved towards him. I don’t know why it happened. Perhaps I could not take what he said to Nate anymore.

“Say that again, I dare you!” I angrily said to him. I will not lie; I want to punch him right now!

He smirked and spoke, “Are you deaf—” he stopped talking when I punched him in his face. So Melody, Juaqin, and Athena went towards us to deescalate the situation between Sebastian and me, while Elisa went a little away from us. I am sure she doesn’t want to intervene in our conflict.

“The next time you say inappropriate things about my brother, I will destroy you!” I angrily said to him.

“Is it hurt to hear the truth, Phoenix?” He asked sarcastically. So, I attacked him again, and I was about to punch him again, but it did not happen because Juaqin stopped me.

“Can you all stop!” Elisa screamed, “Nothing will happen if we won’t stick together; we should prove to that detective that no one with us killed Nate,” she added.

I have seen Athena’s eyes, and I believe she cried earlier. She left the classroom. So, Juaqin followed her.

At this moment, we are only four left in the classroom.

“Don’t make me your enemy!” I warned Sebastian, and I left the classroom. I went to the parking lot and rode my car; I drove it away from my school.

I did not kill my brother, and I did not kill anyone! Once I prove I did not kill Nate, I will sue the detective who accused me of doing it; I will make sure he will go to jail.

Mom buried Nate’s corpse because she was so unhappy upon learning about his death. His burial became secret. Only mom and I know about it.

Mom and I are in the cemetery right now; we are in front of his graveyard, “Your brother is dead!” She sorrowfully said while glancing at his graveyard. “He left us!” she continued while crying. So, I did not speak; I just hugged her tightly because she needed it right now.

I promise, mom, I’ll find who killed him, and I’ll make sure he will rot in jail.

Lincoln’s POV

I walked towards my condo unit while holding foods I bought from the supermarket. I entered my condo unit and turned on the light.

It shocked me when I saw a man’s mannequin hanging, and it had bloodshed. It made me let go of the foods I bought from a supermarket. I also looked at the mirror on the wall because the sentence ‘That will happen to you, if you speak’ was written there using lipstick.

Cops must know this. So, I took my phone in my pocket, and I called SPO2 Patrick Smith; he is investigating what happened to one of my students, Nate Keehl. “Hello sir, you need to go here to my condo unit,” I said. I ended the phone call after telling him what happened here.

A few minutes later, Patrick, together with other cops, arrived. They investigated what happened in my condo unit, then he came towards me, “It’s confirmed the blood on the mannequin is Nate’s,” he said to me. “We will investigate further to know who wrote the sentence in the mirror,” he added.

“Thanks, officer,” I said. It made him take a deep breath, and he looked at me seriously.

“Sir, do you know what happened to Nate?” He asked, which made me nervous.

I am sure the culprit will kill me if I speak.

I was about to talk, but I stopped when a police officer went towards us. “Sir, someone deleted part of the CCTV footage in this building,” a police officer said to him.

“This is terrible!” He said, “The culprit planned before doing this!” He said irritably.

“But some people in this building saw a person wearing a black jacket, which has a hood and white mask,” a policeman said, that made Patrick’s hands close.

Maybe I need to tell Patrick what I know. I witnessed how someone killed Nate; this is the right time to give him justice. “I will tell you the truth about what happened to Nate Keehl,” I said. So Patrick glanced at me.

He took a piece of paper and a ballpen in his pocket and wrote an address there. “Go to this address at 7:00 p.m.,” he said, and he gave me the paper. “Tell all the information you know there,” he added.

I will do the right thing. I’m sure Nate Keehl will get justice once I talk, and the culprit will be held accountable for killing him.

A new character is interesting and it’s curious how he knows about how Nate was killed. This potentially rules out Phoenix or he had an accomplice.
