- Chapter four - RULE NUMBER EIGHT

Lincoln’s POV

I left my condo unit at 6:00 p.m.

I was here in the parking lot, and a few minutes later, my phone started to ring, which meant someone was calling me. So, I answered it. “Hello,” I said to the person in the other line while walking towards my car.

“Where are you?” Patrick asked me. He is the one who is calling me.

When I came closer to my car, I rode and tried to start its engine, “I’m on my way,” I answered him; I was so annoyed because it was not working. I heard that Patrick took a deep breath.

“Okay,” he said to me, “Just call me once you’re here,” he said and ended the phone call.

I tried to start my car’s engine again, but it did not happen.

A few minutes later, my phone rang again. I don’t know who it was this time, but I still answered the phone call. “Hello,” I said to the person who was calling me.

“Hello,” the person said that made me frown. He is using a device to change his voice to hide his identity.

“W-Who are you?” I asked. Right now, honestly, I feel that there is something wrong with him.

“I already warned you Teacher Lincoln that you must not speak, but you did not listen!” The person angrily said, even though I am so scared right now, I still opened the door of my car, and I decided to get out of it.

“I am not scared of you!” I said to the person while walking towards the exit of the parking lot. So, the caller laughed sarcastically and spoke.

“Oh, come on Teacher Lincoln,” he said sarcastically, “Don’t act tough, it makes me angrier,” he added to me.

What? “What do you want? Money? What?” I asked him while walking faster towards the exit of the parking lot.

“Why don’t we just play a game,” he said, and he took a deep breath and spoke, “At this moment, I am a little far away behind you. All you need to do is to run towards the exit of the parking lot, but if I catch you I’ll make sure that you’ll die,” he said seriously which made me more afraid.

No! I don’t want to die. I ran towards the exit of the parking lot while hearing his sarcastic laugh on the other line.

I did not manage to reach the exit of the parking lot when a moving car hit me and dragged me a little bit which made me let go of my phone.

Honestly, I want to stand up and run towards its exit right now, but I don’t have enough energy to do it.

A minute later, I have heard that the door of the car that hit me opened and the person who was driving it came closer to me.

The driver looked at me seriously, “Sorry, but I win,” the person sarcastically said to me. The driver’s voice right now is different.

I am sure that the person is using a device to change the driver’s voice.

“You can’t get away with this!” I said to the person. I coughed blood when I tried to get up.

I am so weak now, and I feel that anytime I will die.

The driver is wearing a black jacket that has a hood and white mask. Even though I still know that the person in front of me is the one I saw hanging Nate’s corpse inside of the classroom last Friday on prom night.

The culprit is holding a knife, “Rule number eight,” the murderer said to me, “Kill the witness,” the criminal said, and the perpetrator stabbed me in my left eye and my lower left abdomen, which made me weak even more.

Patrick’s POV

I am here in the condo unit of S; he is sitting on the sofa while I am on the chair. He is wearing a black mask that has no face. I told Teacher Lincoln to go here in his condo unit to keep him safe, and this case is needed to be solved privately because the suspects in this are students.

I could ask Teacher Lincoln earlier the information he knows about the case, but S and I must solve it privately. S looked at me, and he spoke, “Where is he?” He asked me.

Right now, he is using a device to change his voice to hide his identity.

I took my phone in my pocket, and I tried to call Teacher Lincoln again, but I could not contact him anymore, “He is not answering my call,” I said to him.

A few minutes later, I received a text message from him, consisting of the word ‘help,’ which made me worry, so I put my phone in my pocket and left the condo unit, no! He cannot die! I rode in my car, and I drove it towards his home.

Lincoln’s POV

A few minutes later, the murderer pulled me towards the edge of this floor, “Twinkle, twinkle, little star, How I wonder what you are,” the culprit sang while doing it, “Up above the world so high, Like a diamond in the sky,” the criminal continued.

I felt so nervous when we reached the edge of this floor, and the murderer forced me to stand up, and the culprit continued singing, “Twinkle, twinkle, little star. How I wonder what you are,” after that, the criminal pushed me which made me fall towards the ground.

Patrick’s POV

When I arrived outside the building where his condo unit is there; something crashed on the roof of my car. The people outside started a commotion.

I left my car, and I saw scenery on its roof. I saw Teacher Lincoln’s dead body; it has full of blood. He has stab wounds in his left eye and lower abdomen.

Someone pushed him in the building, no! Impossible! Right now, I cannot believe that he is now dead. I kneeled in front of him, and I felt my energy quickly drain after seeing him dead. A person died because of me; I did not manage to save him.
