Chapter Five | Frost.

FRANCESCA

"Let me go! I said, 'Let me go!'" I struggled, but it was in vain.

I couldn't discern if it was night or day as the shaft descended below the earth. I was being taken somewhere, and I could sense it was unholy.

My skin crawled as we descended, fear gripping me.

Soon, we landed, and two muscular warriors dragged me to 'my room,' as the Alpha king had instructed.

Except, I was forcibly restrained with silver chains on both wrists, separating them. Another adorned my neck, bearing a wolf symbol. My legs weren't spared either.

They appeared heavy at first glance, but once on me, they were surprisingly lightweight.

The presence of someone sent shivers down my spine as he approached, I raised my miserable gaze locking eyes with his dangerously red stare.

"Enjoying your room, my dear?" A wicked smile twitched his lips, a stark contrast to the first smile I saw when he saved me.

"Why are you doing this to me? I need answers and I need them fast."

"Hahahaha ... this is spectacular!"

I frowned at his words.

"The audacity to talk directly to my face. Haven't you ever wondered why you have such ability?"

He circled around me as he continued.

"Surely, a mere omega won't be able to look at my feet, much less my eyes, but you ... you can comfortably stare at them for more than a second. Unbelievable!" He laughed maniacally.

"Then if I'm not an omega, what am I, and why do you seem to want me badly? What can I offer the king of alphas?"

"You are my legendary second chance mate!"

Suddenly, his wolf growled in his voice as he barked at my face.

"I never thought I would meet one of your kind again after the moon goddess wiped you all from the face of the earth a century ago. I thought the moon goddess would surely punish me for my sins, but you came out of nowhere."

He gripped my jaw tightly, admiring my face as I held my breath from the proximity.

"If I am your salvation from your so-called sins, as you say, why treat me so harshly?"

"You seem to talk as if you are that important, my dear," he chuckles. "What's inside you is what matters; you, on the other hand, are useless to me. I am the Alpha King Alexandros, ruler of all, and I will treat you however I want!"

He drops my jaw nonchalantly, and I sink deeper into my misery.

"I, Francesca Levi, reject you, dark Alpha king Alexandros of the Lockwood Pack South, to be my mate!" I say with a trembling voice.

"Stop that nonsense. You and I both know the man is the only one capable of rejection in this world. Or have you lost your sense of reasoning from my intense touch earlier?" He chuckles, and I feel pained.

Why?

Despite my name being Francesca, meaning free, I have lived most of my life like a slave. People use me for whatever they want without caring for my choice and opinion about it.

Next thing I see, he brings forth a plate of a meal toward me, and confusion sets in. Surely, he doesn't care if I'm hungry or not.

He leans down to my height, towering over me, and says, "Eat."

Then, he brings forth a spoon loaded with a greenish vegetable that looks deliciously edible close to my mouth.

I must confess, I haven't eaten anything for a while, but I am never going to accept a meal from him. I don't trust him, despite our mate bond, since I found out his real intentions were just to use me, like everyone else.

I kept my mouth shut, and he cocked his head at my disapproval, followed by a sneer.

"I can kill you before your next breath if I wanted to. Do not test my patience, senorita."

I maintained my silence, and he raised his eyebrows furiously. Eventually, my mouth started opening on its own, and I could swear he was the reason for it. He shoved the food inside, making me chew and gulp it down.

It looked edible but tasted bitter, leading me to spit on the ancient ground.

My belly rumbled, and a heat started building within me.

"What did you feed me?" I asked desperately with teary eyes.

He brought my forehead closer to his lips and kissed me gently. "Be a good girl and don't fight it."

Soon, the intensity of the heat inside me grew, and my eyes turned blue again, just like back then.

"She's beautiful!" I heard him glorify, not me, but my wolf!

I had shifted into my wolf, and she was very agile. It was evident she hated the Alpha king at first glance, attempting to kill him with a loud growl if the heavy chains hadn't held her in place.

I could feel her emotions of pain and vengeance.

'That bitch! I will kill her! I will kill every one of them and hang their heads in the highest tower in Lockwood!'

I heard her angry voice in my head. If only I could communicate with her.

'Hey, what's wrong?' I asked, unsure if she could hear me or would listen.

'Everything you've ever known about yourself! Our whole lives!'

'What do you mean?'

'They mocked us! They called us weak! They called us pitiful. For seventeen miserable years, I had waited patiently for this moment. They will see who is weak!'

It was at that moment I realized I wasn't alone in all those years of inhumane suffering my mother made me endure just because I was an omega. She felt all my pains too.

'What's your name?' I asked concerned.

'Frost!'

'Nice to meet you, Frost! I love that you came to save me from being buried alive on my eighteenth birthday.'

'Time is running out. You don't know who you are and how many enemies you will face for knowing this idiot called the dark Alpha king Alexandros! He stands in my way, and I must kill him here and now!'
