Chapter 35 | Betrayal

Time stopped, and we looked into each other's eyes. The next thing I felt was El placing her lips on mine.

They were very soft. I couldn't close my eyes from the shock as she kissed me for the next two seconds.

Then suddenly, on impulse, I jolted backwards, my breath becoming heavy as I watched her sit upright and stare at me innocently while I held a shocked expression on my face.

Neither of us had anything to say for the next ten seconds, and trust me, it was very, very awkward.

"Oh, come on, it's not really that bad," El says, playing with her fingers and avoiding eye contact as she said it.

"Huh?" I pressed. Did she just say kissing me out of the blue isn't so bad? I never expected it in the first place.

She didn't respond again and instead attempted to move closer to me.

Each step she took forward, I took the same step backward from her.

Until I couldn't anymore, and she crawled closer and closer, maintaining intense eye contact that I couldn't break away from until she
