Chapter 5

Three years later…

I couldn't imagine that days turned into months and months turned into years. It's been a while and I couldn't imagine three years have passed already after I ran from the people who hurt me. I spent all my years with my uncle Joe enhancing my skills on fighting and making my wolf strong.

“Give me a blow, Little Wolf!” Uncle Joe mocked me as he got the chance to dodge my blow. I was a bit irritated when I heard that childish pseudonym he used to call me when I was a teen.

“Stop it, Uncle! I'm not a little wolf anymore.” I hissed at him.

“I just love to call you a little wolf. Despite the changes I'd seen so far from you, I still couldn't stop calling you little wolf.”

I stopped by what I was doing when I suddenly remembered everything I have gone through with. Three years have already passed, and I spent all my three years training with my uncle here in his very nice place. All those years, I spent my life by forgetting all the bad things that happened to me, including Drake and my family.

It's been a while and I haven't heard about them. I also stopped sneaking at them because I didn't want to hurt myself more.

“Here you are again, Margaux… You are affecting me when you are overthinking!” My wolf, Luna, growled and made me return from my senses. I stared at uncle Joe and saw him smirking.

We were fighting at this moment and this is what we used to do always when Jack wasn't there. Jack and uncle Joe trained me. They taught me everything I needed to know during those three years and now, I know to myself that I have improved so far. I am no longer the weak and desperate Margaux they know. I am so far different from who I was before.

Drake, and the rest of my family members couldn't downgrade me because I am with the new version of myself now.

My wolf and I were getting stronger each day as my uncle Joe and Jack trained us. They've spent their three years taking good care of me. I spent my birthdays with him and with Jack. My life here with my uncle was the happiest moment that happened to me. He took good care of me like I was his real child.

“Margaux… I think you are ready to face the new battle of your life.” I looked around as uncle Joe mentioned those words.

I looked at him and saw his eyes change. There's something in his eyes that I couldn't exactly tell what. I don't know, but I suddenly felt nervous about it.

“Margaux!” Someone called me from the back and I saw Jack. He's still catching his breath as he reaches my direction. He came from the pack.

“What is going on?” I asked both of them. Uncle Joe and Jack were staring at each other first before one of them spoke up.

“There's an emergency back at the pack, Margaux. An enemy from the neighboring pack was threatening an attack by next month, and all the members of the pack were forced to train to fight.” Jack explained, and I felt my world had stopped moving when I heard that.

Mom is what comes into my head. I would never allow something bad to happen to her. After three years of hiding and not checking my mom, I worried about her that much.

“H-how about my mom? Will she be included?” I asked and Jack sighed.

“Yes, she will, Margaux, and I didn't want that to happen.” I looked at my uncle and his eyes filled with sadness.

Uncle Joe loved my mother ever since, but mom chose my dad over him. Out of pain, he fled away as he chose to give way for my dad.

“No! I won't allow them to make my mom fight for that goddamn pack. I will go back to the pack and replace her.” I confidently said, which made them stare at me.

“Are you ready, Margaux? Are you ready to face your mate after three years?”

I took a deep breath from what Jack had asked me. Three years had already passed, and I spent all my years training to be strong.

“What is my training for? Is it because of the man who hurt me and dumped me like I am the most disgusted woman he met, right?” I asked them and they both nodded their heads, which made me smirked.

“So, I know I'm ready to face them. I have to go, Uncle, and I shouldn't waste more time. I will never forget you and once I'm done, I will be back here. Just so you know, this is my home and I would choose to stay here with you, My favorite uncle.” I said smiling.

Uncle Joe smiled and he patted my head. I hugged him for the last time before leaving.

“Don't forget to beat their ass when they tried to hurt you. Bite their asses, Little Wolf.”

I just chuckled from the last words that my uncle had mentioned to me and after that, I ran through the forest to go back to my old pack with Jack beside me.

Hours had passed and finally, we were already at the place where I left my broken heart. Many things had already changed here for the past three years. I almost did not recognize all the way to our house.

“The pack was different from before, Margaux.” I nodded my head from what Luna said.

“Many things had already changed in here the day you left, Margaux,” Jack said, and I just glanced at him.

“Margaux Lightwood, I am glad that you are back.”

I suddenly felt my world turned upside down as I heard that male baritone voice of a man. The way he spoke those words brought an unexplainable chilling effect on my body. My heart was racing deep inside.

His fragrant scent lingers to my nostril. The scent that I wouldn't have expected to smell the first time I went hiding in the forest for over three years.

My wolf inside of me was screaming in happiness!

Yes, she could feel it and I could feel it as well. The man in front of me was no other than—Our mate!

“We found our mate, Margaux! He's our mate! Now let me take over your human form because I want to introduce myself to him!”

However, I've realized that our found mate was no other than the man who broke me into pieces three years ago.

I gritted my teeth as I saw his face, but I couldn't stop myself from being starstruck by his charismatic appeal. Nothing changed from him. He's still the most handsome and tempting wolf I have ever met in my entire life.

“Jace Hayland. Glad to see you again. How's life after you break—”

My words cut when Alpha Jace suddenly pulled me into his tight embrace, and enough for me to smell his fragrant scent, which also makes my heart skip a bit from beating.
