Brooklyn's POV:

Emily said she didn't know where Lucy and Kate were hiding. They showed up all of a sudden and asked her to write notes and put them in the bird's nest in the banyan tree by the lake. They would meet her sometime.

I asked Emily to drop off one more note and meet them tomorrow night at 8:00 in the woods.

Emily said yes, but she was so nervous that the note fell out of the nest several times. Finally, she gathered herself together and put the note away, she also grabbed her dress.

Devin had his men on the edge of the lake, watching to see if anyone approached.

But by the next afternoon, no one had come near the banyan tree.

Emily's note was still in the nest. No one took it.
