Things We Do For Love

Dante POV

It is obvious that Collins mind was made up. Seeing Lillith all filled with anxiety had me really becoming worried. The little time we shared last night proved to me what truly is quite unimaginable; an intense attraction for her.

"Alright then, we are going to take it gentle with her." Collins said, holding up the Wolf bane in his hands.

"Collins, we both know she could get hurt." I said, hoping he would reconsider the decision he has made.

"Would you have me reporting to the directors of your inaction against this group? Remember your importance." Deep down, there was an intuitive feeling that made me believe Collins had a genuine hate Lillith.

I watched Collins stretch her hands slashed it open with a knife. The scene was uncomfortable to behold and something I felt a way of resisting. While Collins attempted to use the Wolf bane, Lillth resisted, much to the surprise of everyone.

"Lilith, I assure you it won't hurt." Collins said.

The growl that emitted from her lips afterwards had everyone pulling their guns out, in a bid to shoot at her.

"Stop! Don't do this!" I yelled, rushing over to her side and raising my hands in plea.

"Are you out of your mind Dante? Step aside and let's do whats right to this dog." A growl once again emitted from her lips and it had me looking around and realizing the colors of her eyes had changed; an indication her wolf had taken over.

"Let's have a reconsideration about this." I said once more.

"Reconsideration? Are you crazy? We have never reconsider killing a wolf before. As a matter of fact, you have always led the killings. Are you too daft to see your sentiment has blinded you?" Collins yelled out.

His words triggered a part of me and this propelled me to pull out the guns and aim it towards Collins.

"Dante? You have gone nuts man!" Steve yelled, seeing the guns in my hands. Meanwhile, Collins smiled pulling off the customary cigerate he had in his hands.

"I dare you to shoot me Dante. Shoot me because you want to keep your little puppy." The emotional side of me took over, as I forced a slap across Collins face. I pulled the trigger, shooting closest to the grounds were they all stand and eventually holding Lilith hands and running into the woods.

While we ran deep into the forest, I could hear the voices of my comrades from behind and right in my front was Lillth, who was surprisingly moving fast; a trait a believe was influenced by her wolf.

"Where do we go?" She asked, looking completely scared. I held her hands and pulled her into one of the deep branches, where the men wouldn't be able to see us. After a minute, they all ran past us, using the other way.

"You shouldn't have done that to your friends." Lillith indicated, after a moment of silence. "I know you want to protect me, but I have no use. I don't know who I am, only that I realized I am a Werewolf barely minutes ago." While the logical side was revealing how bad my act was, i couldn't control what was raging through my emotions.

"I didn't do this because I don't want you dead. I am doing this because I..love you " The words were heavy, but I was glad they came out the right way.

"Love me? You only met me days ago." Although she had a point, I knew deep within the heart that she would be the first woman to ever capture my heart.

"Listen Lillth, I love you and that's all that matters to me. I don't care the days we met, I don't care if you are a Werewolf, all I care about is my feelings for you." She stared at me for a moment and while she attempted to speak, gunshots could be heard closed by.

"Step out of the branches Dante." I groaned in frustration, knowing Collins had found our hideout. "Don't attempt any fowl play this time. We won't hesitate to shoot you." I turned to look at Lillth, who had a special fear built within her at that moment.

"Just stay down for a moment." I told her and got up to face him.

"Dante, you should be ashamed of yourself. There are pretty maidens out there that could easily make you loose your senses, but you chose a dog. A dog to fall in love with." Collins statement wasn't bridlled in any form.

"Don't you call her a dog again." I warned, much to the surprise of the rest of the group.

"Well, since you have chosen to be so adamant, here is what is going to happen. We are giving you the options of stepping aside or get set to die." Death; the capital punishment given to any Werewolf hunter, who sent against the rules.

"I hope you are aware that if you die, she would also die as well?" Collins added further. The look on Steve's face showed disappointment, but I was not fazed by any of it.

"Dante don't do this. Come with us, you are a great hunter and while I would be happy if you are out of the way, I would also be disappointed that you lost your life to a mere dog. I would rather see you die a death of a honorable man." Collins revealed.

"Please don't kill him." Lillith's voice drew my attention to her. She was out of her hiding as she stepped out fully from the woods. "Take me instead. I have no reason for living. I don't have a memory about anything and even my name, this makes me utterly useless." I stared at Lillith pleading with my eyes not to allow this happen.

The sound of gunshot made all my sensory part of my body halt for a moment. I stared at the direction of the sound of gun to see it was from Collins and the bullets had caught on his victim; Lillith.
