Chapter 7

 

 

Mark and I would go to the woods today. He just called me and told me that he wanted to hang out with me. I packed things that I could use like an extra shirt, food, and a knife in case a bigfoot would attack us. A car was honking outside, so I sprinted out of my room. I informed mom and dad that I would come home late.

Mark stood outside his car like a coming of an age movie actor. I bowed my head a little bit to hide my smile.

"How are you?" he asked, raising his hand for a high five.

"Good" We went in his car, and he handed me a coffee.

"For a good beating heart," he joked.

"You mean palpitate." He chuckled. He started the engine, and I nearly bathed myself with hot coffee. He just laughed. Best Buddy thing. I was in a state of awkwardness while he was cool about the situation.

I suddenly choked when he tapped my thighs.

"Are you alright?" he asked with a concerned look. Why would he do that on my thighs when there was my shoulder that he could tap?
