Chapter 3

I didn't answer and just stared at Lucas.

How could I possibly tell him that my mate cheated on me and that I was going back to my own pack?

Lucas' breath wafted through my neck, which was a scent I had never felt on Derek.

His strong Alpha aura made me drunk in his arms.

Derek was just an ordinary werewolf. If I weren't his mate, his aura wouldn't have attracted me.

And now, as an Omega, I was greatly attracted by an Alpha.

I felt a bit ashamed. Right now, he was threatening me, yet I found it hard to resist him while he was approaching me.

I turned my head to the side to not look at his face. Then I said, "I was just going home."

"I thought you were the classic type. To my surprise, you are wild. You surprise me." Lucas licked his lips, revealing an evil and frivolous smile. Then he kissed my neck again.

My obedience seemed to satisfy him.

He started doing to me what happened to us on the plane.

I did not resist. I knew how powerful an Alpha wolf was. Besides, I enjoyed myself as well.

After we finished, he lit a cigarette and lay half-naked on the bed. He propped one hand on his somewhat unruly hair.

I silently took a glass of water to hide the embarrassment on my face.

"You didn't have to do this even if you wanted to go home."

Lucas' words came out of the blue and made me choke while I was drinking. I didn't expect him to still remember what I had said. I didn't even know how to get away with it anymore.

"I drank a lot last night, so maybe I was still having a hangover then. I wasn't thinking straight," I explained with a random excuse.

Yet my voice trembled, and I was very afraid that Lucas might catch me in such a lame lie.

Fortunately, Lucas did not question me after hearing my words. Only then did I let out a sigh of relief.

"Cynthia, you have intrigued me successfully. Spend the next three days with me, and you will be rewarded fairly. I'll send you home after three days," said Lucas.

I thought, 'Three days? This man is pure evil!

I've finally made up my mind to leave Derek, and now, I'll be stuck with the devil?'

He extinguished the cigarette in the glass ashtray and looked at me with a half-smile.

He said, "Don't think too much. The only reason I propose so is because you will be helpful to me."

I thought, 'Helpful? How?

I'm just an Omega with a mate. How can I be helpful to him in any way?

I'm just a poor woman who has been betrayed by my mate.'

Yet obviously, Lucas did not care what I was thinking. He put out his cigarette and stared at me without blinking.

The heat in his eyes made me feel strange, and my body was burning hot.

Then he reached out and pulled me over. I lost my balance and fell directly onto the bed.

Lucas pounced on me.

After he conquered me twice ruthlessly, he put on his clothes and let me take a bath.

He asked me to join him to discuss business with foreign clients, and before I responded, he had already tossed me in the car. Then he took me to the restaurant where he was about to make the deal.

In addition to being the secretary of Marshall, my boss, I was also a French simultaneous interpreter. Because of that, I became Marshall's secretary, and we attended many business negotiations together.

When Lucas and I arrived at the restaurant, we were invited to the VIP room to meet with two clients.

"I saw you at a business meeting with Marshall earlier. Your French is excellent. It just so happens that my secretary couldn't stand my temper and resigned, and I was worried about today's negotiation. Then I bumped into you. It's fate, don't you think?"

Lucas was explaining to me, but his frivolous tone just made me have the urge to bite him hard.

I thought, 'How could he let me be his interpreter on such short notice?

Well, I guess it's no use talking to him about it. Judging from the way he is acting, it's not going to change anything even if I talk to him. Do I have any choice but to say yes?'

I loved my job very much. I took every chance seriously, and today's meeting was no exception. Fortunately, there was no exceptional difficulty in their conversation today, and I finished today's work smoothly.

The conversation ended well. It was not until Lucas sent away the two clients that I heaved a sigh of relief.

Lucas came over, patted me on the shoulder, and said that I did a good job, which finally gave me a reason to be happy.

"Is that what you mean by saying that I will be helpful?" I asked curiously.

"What else?" Lucas said impatiently.

His words made me heave a sigh of relief.

"How about working for me? Be my secretary. I'll pay you three times what Marshall pays you," Lucas said, turning suddenly to look at me.

I shook my head. Triple pay was indeed tempting, but I didn't want to go back to that city.

Lucas did not force me. He just said that I could always come to him if I changed my mind.

He also gave me his business card, which I slipped into my jacket pocket.

I was with Lucas on every deal for the next three days. Of course, Lucas, the Alpha, would not let me off so easily. During these three days, I woke up every day with a sore body.

After three days, I could finally get rid of Lucas. He solemnly told me that he would never tell Marshall about the incident on the flight.

I didn't really trust him, but there was no use dwelling on it. I just wanted to get home as soon as possible.

Lucas kept his promise and sent me to the entrance of the Silver Spring Pack.

I immediately went back to my parents' place.

The second I reached home, I could no longer bear the grievance that I had been holding. I just wanted to bury myself in my mother's arms and tell her how upset I was.

Yet before I entered, I saw the face I didn't want to see the most.

Derek gingerly sat on the sofa in the living room while my parents sat next to him and sighed.

I grimaced and glared at Derek, and then I walked into the living room.

"Why are you here?" I asked.

When Derek saw me, he immediately cried and said, "Cynthia, you got me all wrong. Why would I cheat on you?"

This was so ridiculous. I watched him quietly, waiting to see what he was up to.

"Cynthia, how can you doubt Derek like that?"

Derek was a good liar. He managed to fool me once, and now my parents have become his victims.
