CHAPTER 1—MISS ANGRY BIRD

I hate the word ‘meant to be’, what is meant to be? I wasn’t meant to be born if it weren’t for my parents going on a one-night stand and having a mistake who they would have aborted if it weren’t for their decision to love me. Decisions make our life work not a bloody ‘meant to be’.

I looked at my mother sitting in front of me after a good damn breakup that I just had with my four-year-long relationship with my boyfriend who seemed to say more of ‘meant to be’ than ‘I am sorry’. My god dammed boyfriend or I might add an ‘ex’ before that word, says that he has work and I have a whole career ahead, so we should first become independent and then we would be together if we are meant to be.

While the real reason is his ex has offered him a job, a job that can make him a hit star in minutes, in minutes he can turn from a pushover to a whole new person who the world wants to meet. He wants to breakup because he wants to get together with his ex now and our four-year relation is nothing in his eyes. I just wasted four-years on this idiot guy. Oh, I feel great!

With a sympathetic look my mom, Janise looked at me and said “I know my daughter, she wasn’t in love with that duffer, was she?”

I again looked at my mother and sighed “of course I wasn’t in love, mama. But I can at least expect some loyalty for being loyal for four years.”

“You are saying that we have to be loyal if someone else is loyal to you, then darling answer my one question, are people who works under your dad loyal to him only, they never did anything against your dad? They have, right. You both were in relationship from four years but listen here sweets, finding a loyal person is difficult and he wasn’t loyal to you and you knew it from the start, didn’t you? So why being an angry bird now? Otherwise, your dad called he needs help in office.”  When mama spoke about loyalty, I understood what exactly she meant, I always knew he wasn’t the one for me, so I never really gave this relation my best but I still was trying to be loyal to him without hurting him in the process.

I went to my father’s study room and picked my bag and left for his office on my bicycle. Some of the school going children waved at me as they knew me, I babysit in my free time, and it gets me pocket money.

I soon arrived at my office and saw my best friend and dad fighting over a column of our school magazine; they both have a lot of free time, keeps fighting over one or other things. My best friend, Alisha Karson, is a head teacher in our school, and her section and duties are looking after the best studious material and making this school not just a place of studies but a place for fun as well.

She decides everything in this school and financial management comes under dad while I help them with other problems like infrastructure management and looking after problem with every other aspect of school.

Alisha wished me and glared at my father while my father looked at me with a smile and patted my head saying “thank god, you came at the right time, look at this magazine column that I selected and explain Alisha that students should know how wrong addictions are, drugs and its addictions.” I looked at my father and agreed with his point while Alisha pulled me towards her and showed me another column where ‘duties to our parents’ was written and it was about how technologies and things are destroying our relation with our parents and how we have become so neglecting of our duties towards our parents.

Both are important topics now-a-days. We are addicted to bad things and not giving any values to our parents.

“Don’t you think, Amelia, that we should first explain them their duties and then make them learn about these things?” Alisha was righter and therefore I told her to use her idea.

After all the work, I and dad left for home stopping once at a café as I was hungry and wanted to drink coffee, dad suddenly got a call and he had to leave for office again and told me to take car as he will go in taxi, and reminding me to call him as I reach. I waved when he was going.

I took the coffee I ordered and left after thanking and paying, as I opened the door, a guy in hurry hit into me and my coffee spilled all over me, the dimwit, shit!

The guy looked a bit angry and then just left without even saying sorry and looked as if I was the one at fault, I looked at my side and in anger took the glass of water there and threw at that guy and left, leaving the guy in shock.

In all this, I took the anger out on my car and drove breaking all the traffic signals. Dad is going to kill me once he knows about this.

I reached home and noticed how my mother was dancing around the house, her dance was horrible but if on my place it was my father who was looking at her, he would have said “she still looks hot.” Ugh! I so want to be like them sometime.

Life turning surprises happen to everybody and that’s the reason I do believe my life turning surprise will be here too. just please god it should be a happy one, not a sad one…
