Bad Omen

Galbraith sat silently in his study room, a pensive expression on his face. His eyes were focused on the document that had been presented to him this morning. As for his son – Aiden – who was sitting across his father, Galbraith didn’t not pay any attention to him. Aiden didn’t seem to mind, however. He waited patiently for Galbraith to finish scrolling through the contents of the piece of paper in his hand. After all, he had manners and common sense – for the most part of course.

“Sigh,” Galbraith finally placed the document down with a tired expression on his face.

Seeing his father’s helpless expression, Aiden could not help but wonder what was going on.

“Why do you look upset?” he asked.

“I am not upset,” Galbraith shook his head in denial almost immediately.

“Your expression surely doesn’t allude to what you are saying. When did you start lying? You could have just said you don’t want to tell me. Jeez. This old man.” Aiden grumbled loudly, Galbraith’s lips twitching with every wo
