CHAPTER SIX

~ALEXIS ~

"You're early? That's impossible." I rolled my eyes when I recognized the voice.

"Good morning." I greeted Saffron.

"How was your night?" She giggled.

"Cold, with no one to cuddle." I said in disappointment. "Saffy, I love you, but never, ever tell me to stay in the same place you're going to be with another guy okay?!" I cried out and she laughed.

"You weren't alone. You had Joshua." She smiled and I almost slapped her head but glared instead.

"You left me with someone who you knew I hated. No friend does that." I told her. "Besides, you're unusually smiling this morning, what happened?" I turned to give her a questioning look.

"Well..let's just say my night was not cold." Her smile got brighter as she spoke.

"Did you two..." I trailed off.

"Chill no." She laughed again and I sighed, grateful that I didn't have to have an image in my head.

"When did they leave?" I asked.

"We left quarter past this morning." A breath left my mouth when I heard the voice. I was not that surprised, I was just upset that it had to be him.

"You could've left earlier. You didn't." Saffron said to him like they already had the discussion before, they probably did.

"I've said it before. I'm new here. I don't know my way around. I'll get lost!" He argued. I just ignored and tried to shove my way silently away from them.

"Oh well, I have class now. I'll see you both at lunch." I heard Saffron say and watched her leave from the corner of my eyes.

"That leaves both of us." I almost groaned out when I figured Josh would have to talk to me.

"I told you before, we're not friends, do not talk to me." I reminded and be scoffed.

"We're both in detention, you can't avoid me forever." He said.

"Watch me." I replied and walked away.

Sighing out in relief, I made my way to my class, happy that I didn't have to hear his voice again. I got into biology lab and walked to my chair, avoiding anyone's eyes that seemed to be looking at me. I had friends, asides Saffron, she was only the closest. The rest were something I called friend if the moment. They only came in handy when the moment was right, things were okay that way. But today, was not that moment I needed friends, I didn't want to have to talk to people, or listen or them or even come to school. If not that my mother was home, I would've skipped today. I tried to fake being sick but my mum knew my strategies and she insisted that I went to school. Besides, if I missed today, it was only going to elongate my hours in detention.

"Settle down class." The teacher finally entered the lab. As usual he wore his white lab coat, I considered it pointless since we didn't have a practical to do but this man wears it all the time. He saw it as something to be proud of. Being a high-school biology teacher that doesn't get up to a thousand dollar a month was not a thing of pride.

I brought my book out and began to jot down what he wrote on the board. I was glad he chose to write, he was not part of the people I wanted to listen to today.

"Mind adjusting a little?" With a loud groan, I banged my head on the desk in front of me. It hurt but it was worth proving my point.

"What do you want from me?" I almost yelled when Josh took a spot near me.

"Nothing, I'm here for class, it's shocking how our schedule is exactly the same, almost like we're meant for each other." He winked and I faked a gag.

"You disgust me." I said truthfully and he nodded.

"It's nice to hear because I feel exactly the same way." He retorted.

"Then why talk to me, why not avoid me like every other normal human would?" I pinched the bridge of my nose, shaking my head.

"Because yesterday, I went through your grades in a file Mr Collins left."

"What?!" I whispered shouted.

"You heard me."

"What does it have to do with me and you having conversations?" I crossed my arms around my chest, trying my best to remain unnoticed by the teacher.

"Well, I have to finish high school this year, and I need to have a huge boost in my grades." He explained and I almost laughed out but managed to hold it in.

"You finally admit that you're stupid and dumb." I told him, picking up my pen and playing with it, forgetting about writing whatever the man was pasting on the white board.

"Don't make things uncomfortable. This is me trying to nice ask you to be my tutor-"

"No." I replied immediately and strictly.

"Why?"

"Number one, I'm not going to have time, number two, I hate you so much, you got me in freaking detention. I bary get in it, it'll affect my result for college." I turned to glare at him and he laughed nervously.

"That's such a nerdy thing to say. You in or out?" He asked and I could tell he was already tired of my behaviour towards his bad grades. His jaw began to tick, along with his brows farrowing  and his hands tapping the table.

"Out." I simply said. He kept mute after my reply, I looked at him to see him lost in his own thoughts and for a slight moment I had pity on him, but I couldn't still accept. Mentally, I shrugged, concluding there were smarter people in school to help him out.

"I'll pay a thousand dollar per week." I froze on my seat at his next statement.

"What?" I turned to him with wide eyes. "You don't have a thousand box, where would you find such?" I asked, my eyes wide in shock and fear.

"You in or out?" He asked again.

I stared at him in disbelief, still doubting he had such amount to pay per week. "How many subjects?" I asked, scrutinising his looks to see if a hint of playfulness would surface.

"All."

"Make it one five hundred." I replied.

"Shut up, I already gave you a thousand." He shot a glare at me and I raised my hands in defense.

"If I'm going to be teaching all subjects, I might as well be your teacher and you're being home schooled. 1,500. You need me." I chimed smiling at him. For a moment he kept quiet, staring at me like I just carried the moon on my head.

"Well.." I trailed off to get a quick reply.

"Fine." He replied and I jerked up, shouting a "Yes!" Attracting the attention of the entire class.

"Excuse me?" The teacher raised a brow and Josh face palmed himself.

"Nothing sir, she just has a case of being sick and mentally deranged sometimes." Josh replied making me glare at him.
