CHAPTER FOUR

~ALEXIS~

"God I hate him." I shouted out and Saffron laughed. She handed me the sandwich she just prepared and I collected it, murmuring a thank you to her. I had just left detention about 30 minutes ago and I decided to go straight to her house. My mouthed would kill me if she figured I got detained.

So Saffron as a good friend she was, covered for me, although I doubted it would last.

"Doesn't change the fact he's cute." She wiggles her brows and I frowned at her.

"Admit it, you know I'm right." She persuaded but I rolled my eyes and went on with eating my lunch, seated comfortably on her counter.

"Dave is coming soon." She announced and I groaned out.

"I honestly don't want to be a third wheel again." I pouted, images of them doing couples things flashing back in my head. She flirted around, yes, but Dave was her actual boyfriend, everyone knew that. "Tell me if I should go home now."

"That wouldn't be necessary, he's bringing his coins in along, the guy came from L.A, I don't know him but he'll do well to keep you company." She smirked and my inside turned in disgust.

"I'm going home." I jumped down the kitchen counter and dropped what was left of the lunch in the trash can. My entire system wasn't okay with two guys alone with weak girls.

"You can't." She started and I paused, slowly turning to look at her. "It's raining already and you wouldn't find a car this time of the day and I definitely won't drive you." She said with a shrug.

"Sometimes I really just hate you." I narrowed my eyes at her and she smiled in return. Our attention moved to the door when we heard a knock.

"They're here!" She shrieked and began to skip toward the door.

Didn't she say it was raining?

The door swung open. Instantly, the cloud breeze met my skin and I shivered as goosebumps formed on my arm.

Dave stood in front of the door, along with the other person behind him, which I was guessing was the cousin. And they were both dripping wet.

"Oh my God." Saffron said out loud when she saw them. I could care more less and just go into her room but instead I sat back on the kitchen counter, doing my best to ignore them.

"Look how wet you are." I pretended to gag when I figured the pun she intended in her words. There were no surprises there, she was Saffron.

"You're David's cousin?!" She shouted in shock. I knew all the shouts were to get my attention and I wasn't going to let her win, I still did not face any of them.

"Yeah I remember you." I paused I could recognise that accent and voice anywhere.

"What the fuck!" I shouted and jumped off the counter, speed walking to them in the parlour.

"Shit. It just had to be you huh." Joshua said face palming himself.

"What're you doing here? You need to leave now." I told him.

"I wish I could, honestly but I can't. You're not too dumb to know it's pouring heavily, now are you?" He crossed his arms.

"That's it. I'm leaving." I surrendered, picked up my jacket and backpack, the turned to leave. Surprisingly no one objected.

Joshua obviously wanted me gone and I was okay with that because, even I wanted me gone. Dave has no idea what was going on and Saffron was just being Saffron, probably ogling at her boyfriend.

Even with that, I still made my way to the door, I turned it open and flinched in fear when a massive wave of cold hit me.

On second thoughts...

I turned back around and closed the door.

"How stupid you are fascinated me, almost like there are other level to unlock as the day goes by." Joshua, who had a mocking smirk on his face said to me.

"Do not talk to me. I don't have time for your rubbish." I poured and threw myself on the couch.

"Now that it's over, I'll go get you two my brothers shirt." Saffron finally spoke again, she skipped towards her bedroom, only to pause halfway, she turned around and motioned for Dave to follow her. I watched a smile form on his face as he obeyed and followed her.

"Urgh." Joshua and I chorused in revulsion.

"They're dating?" He asked.

"Don't talk to me." I shot a glare at him and he rolled his eyes but kept mute.

Asking questions like we were friends.

"Isn't it obvious. Yes." I replied him.

We both stared at nothing but ourselves after the few words we exchanged. It was way too awkward, we were almost sworn enemies, being alone was bad, I would've gone to meet Saffron but anyone could tell I would end up regretting it, only God knew what they were doing.

"Wait wait wait what?!" I shouted when I saw Joshua squatting over to sit.

"What?" He paused and looked at me.

"Are you mad? You want to sit on the chair with your body dripping water?" I asked him.

"So it'll dry off." He shrugged.

"Oh your brainless self. At least pretend to have sense." My brows furrowed at how he didn't bother.

He started blankly at me for a while, then went ahead to sit down, making me gasp.

"Joshua!" I shouted.

"Last time I checked, this isn't your house. But hey you got my name right." He made himself comfortable.

"You know what, forget about it." I said and made my way for the TV remote.

Sadly, I was too slow to grab it and he got it before I did. "Hey!" I said out.

"Hi." He smirked turning the television on.

"I wanted it." I frowned.

"I got it before you so.." He trialed off still smirking. "Now what movie do I pick?" He asked himself.

"I've been following squid game." I said hoping he would choose it.

"You watch it too?" His eyes shot up to look at me.

"Yes. I just said so." I said I'm a duh tone.

"At least there's something alright about you. Squid game it is." He decided, tuning on to Netflix.
