Chapter 5: Sensitive Touch

Kaynon sat at the opposite end of the ice cream shop eating a hot fudge sundae, quite slowly as he observed the trio sharing a huge banana split. He had asked the waitress for their bill and to buy them all a shake of their choice togo, paying his at the same time yet asking to remain anonymous. The look of surprise on her face when the waitress explained that their ice cream had been paid for sent sparks of joy through his heart. He left before they did, only to shift and follow them home.

Kaynon watched as they went inside. A soft scent so faint passed his nose which he dismissed. She paused briefly at the door with a look of confusion on her delicate features, looking around as if she could sense him watching her yet not too sure that her instincts were right. His ears perked up when her eyes landed on his, though he was well hidden from view. She exhaled deeply before disappearing through the door and closing it behind her with a soft click.
