Chapter 3

Sir Logan couldn't take it anymore; his voice swallowed Emily's words.

“Whose room is this?”

Emily hesitated before she utters.

“Mason room”

She finds this question odd and confusing. Mason pointed at Emily and roared.

“You are sick in your head! In fact, this marriage is over. I will not marry a cheater like you.”

Emily froze in her spot. Could it be she didn't sleep with Mason yesterday? Who is it then? Her feet kicked when she remembered the figure's eyes were blue, unlike Mason's brown eyes.

What has she done? Mason shouted.

“It's over!! I will not do such a thing, never!!”

The family was pleading with Mason; their voices were echoing; Emily wasn't hearing it clearly; and her eyes were focused on her bed. She did it with a stranger, not even Mason. What has she done? It's the security man's fault; he took her to the wrong room.

“This is a mistake!!”

Emily's loud voice seized everybody movement in the room.

“It was the security guard's fault; he took me to the wrong room. I really don't know anybody except Mason.”

Everybody stared at her for a while before Mason, angrily turned and left the room.

Jessica immediately followed suit. Sir Logan's attention moved to Emily, and Emily voiced out quickly.

“I swear. I don't even know this person.”

Sir Logan's eyes moved to Emily's clothes on the floor.

It was so obvious that something happened last night; how had she been caught so easily? yet She claim she doesn't know the person.

“Emily, henceforth, you are no longer part of this family; don't come back to the house, or I will kill you with my bare hands.”

Emily's heart was beating heavily; her grandfather's words shocked her to the bone.

This is all a misunderstanding; it's not her fault; she was drunk, and she was taken advantage of by the stranger that left her behind.

“Grandpa, you can't do such a thing; what about the debt?” Logan's face darkened.

“Didn't you hear Mason's words? Everything is over; he is not paying the debts anymore.

Everything lies on your shoulders now; you are going to pay the debts yourself; after all, your father is the one who stole from the company; I have already disowned him before he did so.”

Emily was surprised to hear her grandfather's words. When did he disown his son? These are all lies, and it's very painful.

“But he is still your flesh and blood, and I am your granddaughter; you can't just kick me out of the house; where would I go?”

Sir Logan looks at Emily disgusted; she is so shameless, she isn't even concerned about what she did; is she even human, hurting Mason like that, and she doesn't even care to apologize, just like her father?

“Go to your lover; I don't want to see you anywhere close to my house!”

Sir Logan turned, leaving without waiting for Emily's words. Emily was lost for words.

“I don't even know him.”

Her voice was low and filled with the current sadness she was facing. She watched her grandfather leave the room.

Ever since her father died, he suddenly changed his attitude

toward her; he has become wicked, and he treats her like a maid in the house. If it weren't for the marriage proposal, she would've been a slave in the family.

Emily found her clothes on the floor; she dressed slowly; her thoughts were waving around; she slept with a stranger, and he left her behind.

It's all the guard's fault, but it's also her fault for not recognizing the stranger and for drinking. She approached the door; she had nowhere to go, and the company debt collector had been coming around recently.

She must plead with Mason; he should understand her situation; she didn't know what she was doing last night.

Emily opens the door only to see Mason and Jessica standing outside; they seem to be waiting for her. Mason blocked her view.

“How could you, Emily? I trusted you, but you shamed me.”

Mason's words made Emily's mouth vibrate; she wanted to say something when Jessica held Mason's hands and pulled him to herself.

“It's alright, Mason. How can you trust a girl whose father committed suicide after being caught stealing by the company he works for?” Jessica's eyes moved to Emily; her cheeks were slowly reaching to her eyes. She hugs Mason with her right hand.

“Her father didn't even consider what his actions might lead to before he carried out his plans. He died in the process; now look at his daughter, happily jumping on different men's beds.”

Mason's expression darkened.

“I should've known, trusting a girl with a hundred million dollars debts, what a fool I was thinking she loved me”

Emily was frozen in her position; her father was found guilty of stealing the company funds, and he committed suicide, which caused her mom's death. She was young then, and her life came crumbling down instantly. Sometimes she still wonders if her father is capable of doing such a thing; he is the nicest person she has ever known then, the best dad in the world. Too bad she couldn't read his mind.

Mason utters.

“Because of your cousin, I have decided to arrange a meeting with the board of directors. I will shift the deadline to five years.

“The company will give you five years to provide the money, or you will face a jail term.”

Emily stares at Mason without saying a word. Mason is the current CEO of her father's company; his family bought the company when the crisis broke out, and they managed to stabilize everything back to normal. he's one of the reasons she has not been locked up already.

Mason's eyebrows pushed down, seeing Emily wasn't saying anything.

“Emily, go on your knees and thank your cousin; if it wasn't for her, you would have been locked up already.”

Emily's attention moved to her cousin; she finally understood what was going on here; this was not a coincidence at all; she had seen the way Jessica's father admired Mason; they probably planned this; Jessica must've spiked her drink; she should've known; what a fool she is to accept a drink her enemy gave her.

Mason's face squeezed, and he raised his voice.

“Emily, Go on your knees, are you dumb!!”

Jessica placed her hand on Mason's chest.

“It's okay; she doesn't have to apologize; I understand.”

Mason's face hardened more; he wanted to say something when Emily suddenly stepped forward toward Jessica. Jessica's cheeks moved; she let go of Mason.

“Emily, you don't have to apologize; we are–.”

“SLAP!!”

Emily slapped Jessica on the face.
