"Strip!" He hissed coldly robbing her of her breath as she froze in her place. Her eyes went wide in trepidation.
She didn't move. She didn't even dare to breathe. Her brown eyes gazed at him blanched.
Maybe she heard him wrong. She tried to comfort her heart.
Axel tilted his head ever so lightly and the mere act had her heart coming to her mouth in terror.
"Did you not hear me, slave? I said f*cking strip!" He growled, sounding inhuman.
Slave.
She was his slave. Of course, she had been his captive all this time. No free person was ever kept in restraints. Why did his words hurt her so much? They were like an acid-dipped dagger going straight through her heart.
"Didn't you hear me?" He questioned.
She flinched at the icy tone. Her hands trembled as she clutched the shirt more tightly to stop the quivering.
She couldn't bear to look into those ruthless grey spheres that held the promise of her destruction.
"S...sorry," her voice was a low whisper. Barely even audible to her ears but he heard it.
She didn't know she said that. What was she sorry for? Sorry for her existence? Maybe. This would make sense. But would her apology make any difference?
He let out a puff of smoke as he tapped on his cigarette to get rid of the residue.
"I can't hear you," He snickered, causing her to jolt in fright as she wrapped her arms around her trembling body.
"Sorry," her voice was louder but shaky.
"Kneel," He said. The calmness in his voice gripped her heart in dread.
Without another word, she kneeled in front of him. He called her a slave. She was expected to do as he commanded. The only reason she'd do it was that she wanted to free her brother and if she would die today, she won't be able to do that.
"Put your palms on the floor," His thick voice resonated in the dark room.
Gulping down the lump in her throat she placed her palms on the floor. It was humiliating as she kept her gaze fixed on the floor.
But somehow she was glad. The fear was too much, crackling all around her.
"Now crawl to me," He said icily and her whole body tensed.
She blinked and her tears fell on the tiled floor blurring her vision.
Crawl. So he wanted to show her her place, which was an animal. A slave pet maybe. Why did it hurt her so much? She should've expected nothing else from him then why did she feel despair?
She could feel his intense gaze drilling holes in her body. Evelyn felt claustrophobic under his scrutiny. She just wanted to run away. So far away that he could never find her.
"Evelyn," the way he said her name had fear sneaking into her bones. Without thinking much she got up to her feet and made a dash toward the door.
She was barely able to open the door when it slammed shut and a big calloused hand was pressed on the door beside her head.
Her eyes widened and a new set of tears kissed her cheeks. Her heart thumped in her ears as she held her breath in absolute terror.
"I...I s...swear, I d...didn't do a...anything," She croaked out, trembling.
"Did I allow you to talk?" He whispered in a thick baritone. His hot breath hit her ear shell and she flinched badly.
Her whole body tautened up when she felt his front pressed on her back.
His free hand grabbed her arm in a hard grip as he roughly turned her around and slammed her back on the door making her wince. She closed her eyes tightly.
Axel placed his arm on the door above her head as he leaned down to look at her but her silky honey locks were like a curtain.
The next thing he had her cheeks in his grip, four fingers on one side and his thumb on the other before yanking her head up.
Axel peered at his favorite items. Her quivering chin and trembling plump lips.
His dark gaze glided to her wet lashes. Those big brown eyes were confined to him.
"Open your eyes," He ordered. His hot breath fanned her face and she could smell alcohol on him.
"Open your eyes, Jewel," He husked that nickname causing her insides to churn in fear.
She could feel it. The crackling aura of immense power and domination oozed out of him in waves and it forced her shoulders to shrink.
Never in her whole life had she been this scared of anyone before. But the man in front of her wasn't human because he possessed no heart and no mercy for her.
What did she ever do wrong to deserve this?
"I... I... didn't k...kill him. I... I... swear-"
He pressed his finger on her juicy lips, shutting her up abruptly.
"Open your eyes or else," The warning in his voice was lethal as her eyes shot open wide only for her breathing to stop when her terror-filled eyes met with the golden specs in his eyes.
He would kill her now.
"Why do you look so pale?" He asked casually, peering down at her.
His thumb stroking her lips caused her to gulp the knot bulging in her throat.
"I haven't even started anything yet," He muttered, sounding deranged.
"Now, Jewel. Are you stripping or do you want me to rip your clothes?" He sneered ruthlessly.
"I wish Mondays never existed," She mumbled tiredly as she walked down the street.Evelyn Brown was a 20 years old girl who lived with her elder brother. She was kind and a sweet soul who loved to see everyone happy. She was also very hardworking. Her dream was to open an amazing coffee shop down the street. And it won't be an ordinary coffee shop. Rather it'll also be a small library where she will put her favorite fictional books. People like her would love her coffee shop. She has also decided on the theme of her cafe. Evelyn inhaled deeply. She has been very passionate about her goal and she knows she'll make it come true one day. Then she could also help her brother. They both will be financially independent. Then her brother won't have to work extra for her. Good days will come soon.Evelyn has been doing her major in journalism and she was also doing a part-time job as a barista in a coffee shop, to at least meet the expenses of her education on her own.Evelyn was never scare
The next day Evelyn worked till late at night. Susan had to leave because she had a blind date so she requested Evelyn to take her shift and Evelyn agreed.Joshua has already called her earlier and informed her that he would work late hours as he has to prepare a presentation for tomorrow's meeting so she must have her dinner as he'll have dinner outside. There was no customer at that time as she played a game on her phone. Mrs. Smith has already left and tonight it was Evelyn's duty to close the shop.As soon as the clock struck ten. She walked to the door and locked it, shifting the banner to closed. She grabbed the stuff and started cleaning the place and put the chairs upside down on the table. She noticed the clouds rumbling outside, it was late. She hoped that it wouldn't start raining. And also she didn't tell Joshua that she would work till late hours because then he would've left his work and come to drop her home before getting back to his work. She would've contemplated tel
Evelyn walked out into the alley and breathed some fresh air. She was tired. Luckily there were fewer customers at this time in the cafe. She leaned against the door and sipped some water from the bottle. She heard a cat and her eyes lit up snapping in the direction of the little kitty. She walked after the kitty out of the alley onto the street. It was evening and the street was buzzing with people. Evelyn crouched down as she patted the kitty while smiling. The kitten meowed and Evelyn was in awe as she played with the kitten when she noticed a shadow looming over her and sleek black boots came into her line of vision. She craned her neck up and the person was tall. When her gaze collided with those grey spheres, she gasped and fell back on her butt on the floor with wide eyes. The kitten seemed scared of the huge man as the kitty scurried away leaving Evelyn behind. Her cheeks tinted red in embarrassment as the man extended his veiny hand forward for her to take. She hesitated but
"Why isn't he picking up?" She mumbled, getting worried.Joshua always gets back home on time. This was the second time he was taking so long.Last night he came so late. But he texted her not to cook his dinner because he’ll be late and when he arrived home, he was a little drunk and disheveled. There were nail marks on his neck which made Evelyn worried. He has never drunk before so it was weird for her to see him in this state for the first time. This morning she asked him why he was drunk and late last night, he said he went on a date but he didn’t remember what happened after that or when he drank so much. She didn’t question him further, she was happy that he went on a date and the nail marks on his neck made her smirk. She was happy that her brother was living his life. She was even excited to meet the girl.Three hours passed and still, there was no sign of Josh. She started to get worried as she rang Joshua's colleague. He answered on the second call."Who's this?" Samuel sai
Evelyn was terrified as she sat like a stiff statue beside the guy whose name she didn't know. Rick was driving the car and Maxwell was in the passenger's seat.Evelyn kept looking out of the window to keep track of where they were taking her but she was never good with the routes."Rory, do it," Maxwell muttered. She let out a loud gasp when abruptly something covered her eyes rather roughly and then she felt the tight knot at the back of her head. She raised her hands to remove the blindfold when Rory grabbed her hand in a rough grip and tugged it down."Stay still, if you don't want me to tie you up," He said coldly and tears leaked out of her closed eyes. One of her eyes was not even properly closed and the blindfold was too tight, almost digging into her eyes. She clutched her hands in a fist and sat there silently. She didn't know for how long they kept on driving but it was too far away from wherever they were taking her and she couldn't even hear any noise from the other cars.
His ominous laugh echoed in the dark empty place. If not for the light bulb hanging above their heads the place would drown in pitch-black darkness. It was him! Why? “A…Axel, what’s going on?” Her voice was so small and full of absolute terror. She looked to her side where Maxwell, Rick, and Rory stood as stiff as a statue and then she gazed at the front door of the rotten and old-looking warehouse. She glanced at the limp and battered body of Josh and her heart constricted in pain. How could she save her brother? They were four bulky giant men against her. She was in a compromised condition. They could kill both of them without even putting much effort into it.In her panic-stricken state, she pushed the question of why they were there to the back of her head. For now, she just wanted to save her brother. Her eyes collided with those grey hues and she flinched, involuntarily stepping back. This was the same gentleman who saved her that night and he even smiled at her just two days
"Josh w...would never do anything wrong," She mumbled but he tightened his hold on her neck and pulled her closer to such an extent that she could feel his hot breath on her face and it had her insides twisting in fear."Shut up!" He hissed and pushed her away making her stumble a step back as he turned around.Axel tried his very best to control his rage but he couldn't."Why did you hurt my brother? What did he do?" She tried to ask him calmly but pivoted to only glare at her. His gaze pierced through her soul and forced her to lower her eyes."Be grateful that he's still alive," Axel sneered and she flinched at the coldness in his voice which sounded like a growl."L....leave... E..Eve..." Josh couldn't even form a full word as tears dripped down his temple. "You Bastard!" Axel growled and charged forward, kicking Joshua's already limp body as he winced in pain."NO!" Evelyn screamed as she sprang forward and covered Joshua's body with hers. Axel's kick was about to hit her face a
Evelyn was silently crying sitting in the corridor as Josh was being treated in the emergency ward.Axel's men had dropped them at the front of the hospital and left. The people and the staff helped Joshua inside. The doctor won't start the treatment before the deposit. She didn't even have money to take a cab so she ran all the way to their apartment. Her legs had no energy and she felt dizzy but her brother's life was at stake. She grabbed all the savings and shoved them in her bag pack along with her phone. She got a cab and hurried to the hospital. After the payment and a few signatures on the important document, they started Joshua's treatment. She also heard the doctors discussing that the matter needed police involvement. They were about to approach her regarding this matter but then another doctor came dashing toward them and said something to them. They looked at Evelyn with scared eyes before heading into the room to treat Joshua. She was moving back and forth lightly while
