Chapter 5

Arianna:

My heart dropped against my ribcage as I heard the Alpha’s phone ring. He put the call on speaker, wanting me to hear what the man was saying.

“Boss?” The man asked through the other line, it was his beta. The man was taunting me and he knew that, and seeing the gun’s muzzle through the camera as it moved to follow the man and woman didn’t make this any better. If anything, I couldn’t help but feel more frightened than I already was.

“Shoot…”

“Don’t.” I said, stopping him. He smirked and raised an eyebrow as the beta waited for what his Alpha would say. “Please, don’t…”

The Alpha stayed quiet for a few seconds, clearly challenging me, waiting to see what I was going to do. But at this point, I was stuck, at his mercy, waiting for his response until I found a way out of this mess that I put myself in.

“Hold,” the Alpha said and I bit my bottom lip. The last thing that I wanted was to cost innocent people their lives. Regardless of who I was, my war was with the Alpha, they had nothing to do with this.

“If we are going to have this conversation, then I would rather we do it without your beta listening in.” I said, glaring at the phone. If I was going to say this, then I would rather not have the beta hear what I wanted to say. I still had to play the shy girl who didn’t want anyone finding out about her feelings to the Alpha.

I just had to find the proper lies to answer his questions when they came.

The Alpha raised an eyebrow, and I looked at the video, knowing that I was playing with fire. But this was my one shot, and I wasn’t going to lose it now that he caught me. To say the least, I doubted that he would be keeping me in the job, and I couldn’t hurt him to get what I wanted, at least, not on his own grounds. That would only cost my pack and family a war with the elders, and that wasn’t something that I wanted.

“Stay on hold, I’ll give you the final order.” He said, and I released a breath that I didn’t realize that I was holding. He put his phone in his pocket and crossed his arms over his chest, waiting for my explanation. “I believe that you’re not dumb enough to try and stall something like this?”

“I did it to catch your attention,” I said, not wanting to answer his question. He shook his head and the smirk that played on his lips told me that he didn’t believe me. I wasn’t dumb, even I wouldn’t believe me, but it was worth the shot.

“And you expect me to believe you because?” He asked, and I got up from bed, knowing that he was well aware that I didn’t have any weapons. He wouldn’t let me stay here if he believed that I did anyway. Plus, there was the fact that I knew that I had no other options to begin with.

My wolf purred and I closed my eyes, this being the last thing that I wanted him to hear.

The fucking spray wore off and of course, I lost my wolf’s ground.

I could hear him taking a step forward and I clenched my fist, ready to attack only for him to put a finger under my chin, raising my face for me to look at him.

“Mate,” he said, and I opened my eyes, my chest aching at the fact that my cover was not only blown, but the fact that he could end up asking questions. That wasn’t something that I wanted. If anything, it was something that I wanted to avoid until I was out of here. But then again, it was something that I was going to have to use to my advantage.

“I believe that you know why I chose to hide it then,” I said, and he frowned before I took a step back as sparks coursed through my veins. He looked down at my body momentarily as his eyes darkened. “I would rather get out of here with what is left of my dignity,”

The Alpha frowned in confusion at my statement as I turned to head to the door. I didn’t even know how I was going to leave the room in only his shirt, but that didn’t matter right now, I wasn’t planning on leaving just yet. I just had to leave an impression.

“Did I tell you that you can leave?” He asked, wrapping his hand around my wrist, stopping me. I froze, closing my eyes as I felt his gun’s muzzle on my lower back. “I believe that you know me enough to know that you don’t leave unless dismissed.”

His voice was above a whisper as he leaned down to my ear, his hot breath hitting my neck, making my body heat up.

“This is when I’m serving you at the bar, not in a bedroom, Alpha.” I said before he turned me around. He wrapped his arm around my waist, pulling me closer before leaning in.

“Tsk, tsk,” he said, shaking his head at me. “I thought that you would know better, little wolf.”

“Know what?” I asked, closing my eyes as my wolf forced me to give into the mating bond. The Alpha’s lips brushed against my lips, his bulge brushing against my thigh, causing my body to heat up as my wolf saw her mate’s need and want for her.

Fucking mating bond.

He kissed the corner of my lips, my jaw, and neck before moving to my earlobe, making my body heat up more than it already was as he licked it gently before biting me.

“I am more than willing to serve at the bar,” he whispered, his hot breath hitting my ear. “But within these walls, I am the one in control, mate...”
