Dean:
My heart dropped as my wolf called ‘Mate’ at the woman who was sitting, choking, in front of me.
Her heartbeat slowed down, and I wrapped my arms around her before opening the antidote and forcing it down her throat.
Her breathing evened in a minute, but she slept in my arms as I looked at her with keen and careful eyes. My body aching with the need to figure out how I wasn’t able to sense her.
I lifted her in my arms and got out of the pool, carrying her inside, heading to my suite. There was no way that I was going to leave now that I knew that my mate was here, and all this time, for months, she was working for me.
She laid her head on my chest, her wolf purring despite her being asleep and I couldn’t help but return the purrs as I ran my finger over her bare shoulder gently.
“Boss?” Viktor asked, frowning in confusion as he took sight of me, processing what he was seeing. I had to fight back a growl, reminding myself that there were humans around, as I grew protective over the small woman who lay in my arms, my instincts hitting me harder than I thought they would as I knew that she was in a vulnerable state.
“Delay the flight, we aren’t leaving in the morning,” I said, heading toward the elevator. One of the receptionists ran toward the elevator, pressing the button for me and scanning his card, leading toward my executive floor, and I nodded as I got inside. I looked down at the woman for a few seconds before looking up at Viktor who was frowning in confusion, trying to process what was going on.
Then again, even I didn’t know what was going on to give him an answer to it. And that alone was enough to make my mind race with a number of thoughts that I didn’t understand.
The elevator door closed and I watched the numbers as it went up, and it was a few seconds before it opened again, revealing my living room.
I walked toward my bedroom, my maid, who was cleaning the room, frowned in confusion before masking her expression with a smile as she rushed toward my room, opening the door. I walked inside and lay the woman who was in my arms on my bed. Her chest rose and fell with each breath that she took, and I ran my finger over her forehead, my touch gentle as I removed her hair from her face, wanting to see her face clearly.
"Boss, is there anything that you need me to get for you?” The maid asked, standing by the door, waiting for further instructions from me.
“You can leave,” I said, looking at her over my shoulder and she nodded before walking out and closing the door, leaving the two of us alone. I kept my eyes on the woman, my mate, my heart racing against my ribcage as my body burned with anticipation and I needed to understand what was going on.
“Who are you, Arianna?” I asked, my voice dropping to above a whisper as I ran my finger over her cheekbone for a second, studying her face. “And how the fucking hell didn’t I feel you or your wolf for this entire time?”
****************************
I watched as my mate opened her eyes, gasping for air before she sat up in a rush, clearly processing what happened as she recalled the fact that she could have died. And the fact that it could have happened had I not found out that she was my mate was something that I wouldn’t deny, but then again, she didn’t even know that she was barely saved because she was.
Her being a woman was the one reason why I was forced to use the poison to begin with. I didn’t hurt women, but when I needed to, a few drops were enough to finish the task without tormenting them as much as I would to a man who was my own size and could fight back.
Her eyes met mine and she frowned before curling back on the bed, her heart racing against her chest as she looked at me with wide eyes.
She looked down at her body, frowning when she saw that she was wearing a shirt, my shirt, and I stayed still, sitting on my chair, watching her as I studied her expression. Her heart raced against her ribcage and I was quiet, watching her as I waited for her to speak.
However, she didn’t. Not that it should have surprised me anyway.
She looked up at me for a second before taking a deep breath and raising an eyebrow. “I take it that you chose not to kill me.”
“I did not choose not to,” I said, getting up from my chair before throwing my phone on her lap. I had to ignore the clench that I felt in my chest as I looked at her, studying her expression for a few seconds, reading her body language as she looked down at the video.
If she was masking the fact that she was my mate, then I was going to do the same thing. Regardless of my wolf, I knew to resist the urge, and that was something that I could tell she was doing.
She looked up at me and crossed her arms over her chest, taking a deep breath as she clearly put up a challenge. “I believe that you know very well what I can and will do without hesitation; therefore, I do suggest that you look down at the video this time.”
She frowned in confusion and looked at my phone, watching the scene before her eyes before they widened. She let out a low growl and looked at me, making me smirk as I got the reaction that I wanted.
“You have one minute to answer, because if you have no value for your life, I will choose to believe that the heroic act of yours earlier was not just an act…”
Arianna:My heart dropped against my ribcage as I heard the Alpha’s phone ring. He put the call on speaker, wanting me to hear what the man was saying.“Boss?” The man asked through the other line, it was his beta. The man was taunting me and he knew that, and seeing the gun’s muzzle through the camera as it moved to follow the man and woman didn’t make this any better. If anything, I couldn’t help but feel more frightened than I already was. “Shoot…”“Don’t.” I said, stopping him. He smirked and raised an eyebrow as the beta waited for what his Alpha would say. “Please, don’t…”The Alpha stayed quiet for a few seconds, clearly challenging me, waiting to see what I was going to do. But at this point, I was stuck, at his mercy, waiting for his response until I found a way out of this mess that I put myself in. “Hold,” the Alpha said and I bit my bottom lip. The last thing that I wanted was to cost innocent people their lives. Regardless of who I was, my war was with the Alpha, they h
Dean:I wrapped my arms around the woman, my mate, who I knew was now flustered with the need of me touching her, pulling her toward the bed.Her heart raced against her ribcage, and I knew that it was going to take me a lot more self control than I would want not to mark her. But feeding my wolf’s hunger should do the trick for now. To say the least, he wouldn’t be too curious about how it felt like to be with his mate. That didn’t mean that I was going to mark her just yet.Her eyes met mine as I leaned in before connecting my lips with hers. Her heart raced against my ribcage and mine did too. The idea of being inside her was more tempting than ever, and seeing as she didn’t pull away, I could tell that she wanted this as much as I did.I ran my fingers over her waist as she wrapped her arms around my neck, pulling me closer. And pulling away, Arianna bit my bottom lip, gently pulling on it before I pushed my tongue inside her mouth, exploring and dominating her. She whimpered at t
Arianna:I woke up in my mate’s arms, his chest rising and falling with each breath that he took as the two of us lay naked in one another’s arms. His neck somewhat bruised because of the love bite that I gave him last night, and knowing that I had a few around my body, I knew to cover them before I head home. The last thing that I needed was for my father to see them. I smiled for a second before my chest ached, forcing me to remind myself why I was doing this in the first place. I was not here to mate, and that was something that I knew for fact. The man was my mission, no one even knew that he was my mate. And I intended to keep it that way. The last thing that I needed was for my father to find out that his enemy was his daughter’s mate. I slowly unwrapped his arm from around my waist as I got up, knowing that he wouldn’t be waking up any time soon. The man was in the presence of his mate and his wolf felt somewhat content upon feeling me around him. Thankfully, the man chose
Dean:I smiled as I opened my eyes, my body and wolf satisfied, for now, that we got to feel our mate. And the fact that I have known her for a while now only made it better. To say the least, I didn’t have to wait for her to accept me. I was no stranger to her and she wasn’t to me. However, it wasn’t long before I frowned, noticing that she wasn’t on the bed beside me. Her scent filled the room, but considering the fact that she was with me throughout the whole night and that we marked most of the suite, I wouldn’t have expected otherwise. Her heartbeat wasn’t heard and frowning, I turned to the bedside table to pick up my phone only to notice that my necklace wasn’t there. I let out a low growl of annoyance and shook my head as I pinched the bridge of my nose.I picked up my phone and called Viktor, my chest aching as I knew that she not only failed the test that I put for her, but that she, my mate, turned out to be a liar. “Alpha?” Viktor asked, and I didn’t have to ask to kno
Arianna: I entered the pack’s grounds, my chest aching as I walked through, knowing that this might be the last time that I have been here. At least, for a long while. The fact that I escaped the Alpha is miraculous enough, me reaching the house was something that I was thankful for. “You slept out again,” my step mother, Mariana, said from behind me. I took a deep breath and turned around to face her, giving her the best smug sarcastic smile that I could muster. The last thing that I needed right now was to get in trouble with her. The woman was an ass alone, and that was something that I didn’t want to get involved in, at least, not for now. “Hello to you too, Mariana.” “Luna,” she said, correcting me. Her fake blonde hair was tied in a messy bun over her head and her sweaty face told me that she was training for the first time in months. The woman hasn’t been moving a muscle for ages now, and though I never really understood the reason, I never bothered to ask the reason. Plus,
Dean:“Aren’t we going to at least…?”“She is not worth it,” I said, glaring at the glass that was in front of me, stopping Viktor from asking what he wanted. “Whoever she was working for is skilled. Not only did they give her a fake identity, she may be going with her real name, I would put that as a one percent possibility, but they managed to breach through all the cameras until they were sure that we would be losing her.”The fact that she was my mate made me not want to harm her, and for that, I was choosing to leave without bothering to wait and find her. “She didn’t get what she wanted in the end, and I doubt that she would have the guts to appear in front of me even if she does find out that it wasn’t what she was looking for.Viktor nodded in understanding, and I ran my finger over the glass for a second before turning my attention to the man. “I want to find out who hired her though, but that can be done when we’re back home. Staying in this place is something that I no long
Arianna: I frowned as my sick stomach woke me up, causing me to run to the bathroom to empty it. I took a deep breath and gripped onto the sides of the toilet seat for a second, heaving in a few heavy breaths before rising to my feet and cleaning the mess before turning to the mirror. My heart raced and I shook my head as I ran my fingers through my hair before washing my face. The exhaustion of this sickness has been overwhelming me to an annoying point, and the thing was, I didn’t even understand what was making me sick. Hell, even the smell of normal herbs that I would normally use to cook were now starting to annoy me. I brushed my teeth and shook my head at myself before walking out of the bathroom, wanting to head down to the dining room. The last thing that I needed was to have Mariana on my head today. The woman has been on her heels to ensure finding something that would make dad kick me out of the pack. Thankfully, my father was busier than to do so, but I knew that if s
Dean: “How are you feeling?” I smiled, watching as Irina sat on the couch in the living room. Her heart raced against her chest due to being pregnant, and I knew that her wolf would be a lot more nervous and exhausted, both wanting to protect her pups and also feeling drained of energy to a certain extent. She had her hand on her stomach, and I couldn’t help but chuckle at her exhausted state. “I heard from the doctor that you were ill,” “Just the stupid nausea that comes with this pregnancy. I don’t really understand the point of it, but then again, I always wanted to be pregnant; therefore, I am not going to complain.” She said, and I chuckled before wrapping an arm around her as I pulled her to my chest. The fact that her mate wasn’t here was something that bothered me, but I also knew that we couldn’t have him leaving his duties because she was pregnant. “I know that you miss him around you, sestra.” Sister. I said, my voice softening as I pulled her to my chest. “And I know
