Chapter 4 part 1

The bell signalled the end of school, student were dragging their chairs across the tiled floor, the screeching making Niki cringe while they ran out the class room door. Niki took her time packing up, in hopes she could dodge the traffic of students running up and down the halls, eager to get home.

Niki wasn't in a talking mood when she got to Matts car, waiting outside the door, tapping her foot impatiently on the floor. Her mind was running wild with thoughts and things she was trying to make sense of when Matt and Mark came waltzing out the school.

They were too busy with their own conversation the whole ride home that they didn't bother asking Niki any questions about her day or her encounter with Chloe, something she was grateful for.

When they got home, she walked out to the back of the house, taking a seat on the wooden stairs of the porch that led to the spacious back yard. Niki was staring at the trees while her mind processed the events of the day.
