They don't have the right

The office remained silent even long after Mary left. Lisa kept playing with the pen on her hand till it eventually snapped into two, a sharp edge piercing into her index finger but she could barely feel the pain. The pain in her chest was deeper than the one in her hand.

The pain of being scorned by the public and called infertile.

A tear escaped her eyes, sliding down her cheeks like water on glass.

She was too deep in her thoughts that she didn’t hear the knock on her door, nor did she notice when Sonia entered the room.

“Ma’am?”

She was too still like a statue; too broken to know what went on around her.

The files suddenly dropped from Sonia’s hands jerking Lisa back to reality. “Oh my God! You are hurt!”

The young lady fidgeted, wondering if it was okay to grab Lisa’s hands or if she should just hang around there.

Lisa looked down on her bleeding finger. “I’m fine.” She replied lifelessly. “Just get the first aid box.”
