Psychopath

“Thank you.” Audrey said nervously as they appreciated her, she walked out of the room with Damien and she sighed in relief.

“I told you not to feel intimidated.” Damien said as they headed out of the restaurant.

“Am sorry, I just couldn't help it.” She replied and he didn't say another word.

They both enter the car and Audrey’s stomach suddenly grumbled, Damien turned to her and she looked away embarrassed.

“Are you hungry?”

“No.” She lied but her stomach failed her by grumbling again.

“You haven't had breakfast.”

“No, it's fine.”

“Well, I have other places to be and we can't wait at the restaurant, you will eat when you get home okay?”

“Yeah, thank you.” She replied without turning to him, she still felt embarrassed and she felt like hiding herself far away from him.

The cat suddenly stopped minutes later and she turned to Damien, they weren't home yet so why did they stop?

“I am getting off here, the chauffeur will take you home.”

“Where are you going?”

“I have work to do.” He replied and walked out of the car, Audrey watched him as he entered another car with two of his guards.

She shrugged and looked away as the car started moving, she got back to the mansion after some minutes and she sighed in relief.

She walked out of the car and entered the house, she flinched on seeing the maids and she heard them giggle silently.

“We are sorry for startling you.” One of them apologized.

“Jeez, must you guys stand so close to the door? It's so creepy.” She sighed.

“We are sorry, breakfast is ready.”

“Finally, breakfast at almost noon.” She scoffed and followed the maids as they headed to the dining.

She sat down and giggled as she ate, she moaned as she felt the pleasure of having a meal after starving for hours.

After having breakfast, she felt bored and decided to take a nap.

HOURS LATER

Damien walked into Audrey’s room and met her asleep, he walked slowly to her bed and sat beside her.

He took his time and stared at her, her hair fell to her face and covered half of it, he slowly lifted her hair and creased her cheek.

Audrey opened her eyes and flinched, she sat up immediately and breathed heavily.

“Calm down, it's just me, your husband.” He said and she nodded.

“Words.” He said sternly and her hands shook in fear, she really doesn't get him, he is difficult to u understand. He displays different kinds of characters every single time towards her, most of them are terrifying while a few are normal.

“Am... Am sorry.” She stammered and he sighed.

“I hate the fact that my wife is being like this towards me.”

“Am sorry, I will act better.” She replied and he nodded.

Audrey wondered what kind of man is sitting before her. He was watching her sleep and also touched her. And why the hell is he always having conversations with her without showing an expression?

“I got you something.” He said and dipped his hand in his pants pocket, he brought out a small box and Audrey knew what it contained.

He opened the box and brought out a new diamond ring, he held her hand and slid the ring into her finger.

“Don't take it off again.”

“I won't, I promise.” Audrey replied and he nodded.

“Have you had dinner?” He asked and Audrey’s eyes drifted to the window, she realized it was late already and she wondered how long she slept.

“No, I have been asleep since I got back.”

“Then let’s go have dinner.” He said and pulled her up, Audrey held onto him till her feet touched the ground.

She expected him to let go of her but instead, he held onto her waist.

“Is... “ She trailed off as he raised his hand and trailed his fingers down her cheek, Audrey shivered and tried pulling away from him but he held her tightly.

“What are you doing?” She asked nervously and he ignored her, he slowly trailed his fingers down to her shirt.

“I am married.” She said and Damien suddenly paused.

“To me.” He added and she shook her head.

“No, I am legally married to Charles and not you.” She replied in fear and he nodded, he pulled away from her and took in a deep breath, he put his hands in his pants pocket and started to walk around the room slowly.

“Do you want Charles to die?” He suddenly asked and turned to Audrey.

“What?”

“Do you want Charles to die?” He asked again and Audrey shook her head.

“I said always use your words.” He yelled and picked up a vase beside him, he threw it close to her and it hit the wall, Audrey screamed in fear and started to cry.

“Am sorry.” She apologized and he rolled his eyes.

“Do you want Charles to die?” He asked and Audrey hurriedly looked at him.

“No, no, I don't want him to die.” She cried in response and he nodded.

“Then he is not your husband.”

“Okay.” She replied and raised her hand to clean her tears, Damien noticed blood on it and sighed, he walked towards her and Audrey kept moving back till she hit the wall.

“No, no, am sorry, please don't hurt me.” She cried and Damien held her hand when he got to her, she finally noticed her hand was bleeding and she whimpered in pain.

Broken pieces of the vase must have cut her hand when it hit the wall.

“Does it hurt?”

“Yes.” She whimpered and he pulled her towards the bathroom, they got in and he placed her hand under the running water from the sink.

Audrey winced in pain as the blood washed off.

“Ouch.” She cried and Damien looked at her, he turned off the water and blew hair with his mouth to it.

Audrey stared at his eyes and became lost in thought, wasn't he the one that hurt her now? Why is he being sweet again?

“Come on.” He said and pulled her out of the bathroom.

“Sit, I will be back.” He ordered and Audrey sat immediately as he walked out, he came back in less than a minute with a small bag and he say beside her.

“Your hand.” He said and she stretched it towards him immediately, he was about to apply something to it and he paused.

“It is going to sting a little.” He told her and applied it, Audrey cried and try to withdraw her hand but he held it firmly.

He was finally done dressing up the wound and Audrey already cried her eyes out, he let go of her hand and she looked away from him, she cried and bowed her head.

Why is he hurting her for stupid reasons? It isn't fair to treat a lady this way.

He suddenly pulled her closer and placed her head on his shoulder.

“Take it easy Mrs. Robbin.” He muttered and stroked her hair, Audrey wanted to pull away from him but she knew it would only make matters worse.

He lifted her head and stared at her, he wiped her tears and Audrey sniffed.

“Come on, it's dinner time.” He said and pulled her up.

‘Okay, it is clear. She is living with a psychopath.’ She thought as they walked out of the room.
