How to survive.

I walked out of the building with a satisfied look on my face.

People often say that a first impression matters and with that came the chance to put one's best traits out there but in my opinion, it was just an opportunity to fabricate the truth about one's self.

Ninety percent of everything I had said to the interviewers thus far could be considered as nothing but a lie...

At least it wasn't all a lie.

In reality, my father isn't truly dead but was sentenced to life in prison for the numerous crimes he had committed of which two out of the bunch were murder and money laundering.

Life imprisonment could be considered as the judges being nice.

My mother on the other hand, well with her I could say my words held some truth, she indeed was kind, maybe too kind.

Dropped out of school and married my father in the naivety of youth, only to end up becoming his punching bag, used to alleviate his anger.
