Chapter 41
THEO Zen was strutting around like a smug bastard in my mind after completing his bond with Moira. It was good to see him so happy because he definitely deserved it. Our mates were completely amazing creatures that we were both blessed beyond measure to call ours. This new gift of Zen’s would be fascinating to test out and learn. It made me wonder if I would be able to utilize it as well because natural gifts were usable by both human and wolf forms, but this was not a natural gift exactly. It was belatedly bestowed. We would just have to be careful where we tested it out because we did not need prying eyes until all of the traitors were dealt with. ‘Do you know of anywhere we can privately test out Zen’s gift from the vision?’ I asked Brynn as we walked into the packhouse. ‘Actually, yes. The training center where my father trained me is large and private. We can lock the doors from the inside so nobody could happen inside.’ I placed a kiss on the top of her head and breathed in

Chapter 42
BRYNN I had never been more furious in my life than I was right now. I did not care about what Lauren threw a silver knife at me. My man saved me with his fast reflexes. He had moved so quickly that I had not even fully seen him do it. He just appeared in front of me. What bothered me was what she did to Theo. She drugged him and sexually assaulted him just so that she could conceive his pup with a misguided notion that it would grant her the Luna position. What made me even more furious was that her intention had been for her to conceive a pup as a selfish bargaining chip. How fucked up could one person be? Theo looked sexy as he was forcing Lauren to walk through the pack like the criminal that she was. His aura was not reigned in like it normally was because he was also fairly furious, but it was also to remind Lauren how fucked she was. He led us to an interrogation room where he pushed her down into the chair and commanded her to not move. He grabbed a set of silver handcuffs

Chapter 43
THEO Brynn wrapped her arms around my waist from behind and kissed my back. I relaxed into her embrace and let her love soak into me so that it would be my focus for today. Last night was a night for reflection. My precious mate got out some of the bourbon that I had in the kitchen and sat me down at the counter, sitting on my lap, and handing me a shot. She told me that she was here for me. It was after the second shot that I began to analyze my emotions and how I felt about what we learned. Anger was a prominent emotion regarding it all. There were never any hard feelings before about the night that Lauren and I shared. Never had I even assumed that anything was amiss. She definitely tried to get with me multiple times after that, but I never accepted her numerous offers. I was furious knowing that she not only drugged me but also did it to conceive my pup. It pissed me off to know that if she had gotten pregnant with our pup that it would have been nothing more in her mind than a

Chapter 44
BRYNN I had my walls firmly in place because I did not want to overwhelm Theo right now. He was having a hard enough time with everything that had come to light. It went much further than we had thought. There was just something else that was niggling me – something on the peripheral that we were not seeing about her. ‘Reach out to Dante’s wolf. We need to speak to him immediately,’ I told Moira. If anyone could see what we were unable to then it would be him. While I had felt horribly guilty that he was stuck here until the battle, I was thankful that he was here too. It was not just because he was keeping me alive and under the radar. He was a genuinely great guy. I brought Theo over to the far wall so that Lauren was still in our sights. He wrapped an arm around my waist and rested his forehead against mine. We did not need words because we found peace in each other’s presence. Dante joined us so I opened a mindlink to Theo so that he would be able to hear what I needed to kno

Chapter 45
THEO I would give Brynn a free pass for asking me to throw her at the intruder because of how fucking incredible she and Moira were. They did it with ease as if it was nothing more than making some toast. ‘Mike, will you please come here?’ I linked him. Dante was currently enjoying his staring game with Alpha Ambrose. The Alpha might have been certifiably psychotic, but he was getting wary of Dante. That just made it even more amusing. We all deserved a little amusement after the fuckshow this day had already become. Mike embraced his daughter and took a few moments to reassure himself that she was okay. I saw the pride that he felt though. “It was scary as hell to watch you be thrown into the air like that, but I knew my daughters could accomplish it. Next time, make sure that you spin counterclockwise at an additional ten degrees. It’ll help build up the friction more.” Brynn beamed at her father, and even Moira shimmered through too. Father and daughter only had each other aft

Chapter 46
BRYNN Chris and Dante had left to go back and watch the bastard and his daughter. Lauren and Daddy Dearest were complete psychos, but even that was an understatement. The Council pulled up a list of what they knew she was responsible for helping with. It was not a complete list though. Kidnapping, abductions, murder, torture, rape, infiltrating packs just to burn down their hospitals, and the most disturbing was a recording of her severing the head off a pup just to send it to the parents along with a copy of the tape. I had never hated or been disgusted by someone more in my entire life than I was by her. Taking one look around the room showed that everyone was under the same impression. “Would you like us to leave some extra warriors here in case more of their people come?” Council Member Thompson asked us. I looked at Theo because that was definitely his call. He was looking at me too. ‘What do you think, baby?’ he asked. ‘It wouldn’t hurt. That would also give us some addi

Chapter 47
BRYNN A blonde woman with chocolate brown eyes stood across from the man who murdered my mother. “The cage has been completed ahead of schedule,” she told him. The most sadistic and possessive smirk teased his lips. He was the type of person whose soul would be as black as tar. I highly doubted there would be anything good inside of him at all. “Perfect. The vessel will be mine tomorrow,” he said with a cold chuckle that sent a shiver down my spine. My eyes popped open, and I gasped for breath. Theo woke up with a start, looking around for the threat. There was no doubt that he could feel the panic coursing through me. I had no idea what my face looked like, but Theo immediately pulled me into his arms and comforted me. My mind was racing with the fact that they would be here tomorrow. War would be at our borders literally tomorrow. My body was shaking as he rocked me back and forth. There was no indication of how long it took for me to calm down, but it did eventually happen.

Chapter 48
THEO Alpha Kade asked if he could speak with me privately, so Jackson let us borrow his suite. It used to be mine and his before I took over as Alpha, but my parents quickly moved into their own place. “Would you like something to drink? My brother Jackson tends to keep a good selection of alcohol, soda, and energy drinks. He swears every good Beta needs them,” I explained. “Apollo found a way to incorporate the costs into the salaries for all of our leadership,” he said, with a smirk. “I’ll take a shot of something because I know we could definitely use it today.” Yes. We definitely could. We were all on the same side, but that did not mean it would be any easier on them or us. Jackson was a vodka drinker, so I poured us both a shot and set the bottle between us. It took a significant amount of alcohol to get shifters drunk, but that increased even more for Alphas. Our metabolisms burned it off that must faster. We clinked glasses before tossing them back. Alpha Kade leaned his

Chapter 49
BRYNN My mother had been my hero growing up. I wanted to be just like her – loving, selfless, incredibly brave, and would do absolutely anything for those she loved. The thoughts in my head drifted back to the letter I found in the book earlier. ‘My sweetest girl. I hate the fact that I had to leave you, but I know that you will become an incredible young woman. If there was one thing that I always admired about you was your resilience. Things could hurt you but never break you, and that’s exactly what I need you to remember when you stand in front of your enemies. Don’t let them destroy the person you are. I wish that I had been with you all these years, but everything that’s happened was exactly what needed to in order for you to reach your destiny. I will always love you, and one day we will be reunited.’ I had suspected she knew that death would claim here since my birthday. This letter from her just confirmed that. The reunited part was confusing though. Did she simply mean wh

Chapter 50
BRYNN The bastard was letting his people fight his battle for him. His smug satisfaction really pissed me off. Could you say cowardly? They were expendable, and that was disgusting. This was the first time I had ever been on a battlefield before. I was not certain what to expect, but there was no way that I could have been prepared. It was nerve-wracking to see our people fighting against the enemy. The smell of blood and death hung in the air, reminding me of the harsh reality that there was permanence to those who fell today. I just prayed that they were not from our side. I was able to do a Matrix backbend just in time so that flying dagger missed me. I simply smirked at the bastard for his horrible aim. It was easy to see that he honestly thought coming here would be an easy affair for him to acquire what he sought – me. Too damn bad because we would never give in until we were the victors here today. Screams filled the air as Mystra and Fyst flew down and destroyed the witche
