41- VIDEOS & DECISIONS
"Here, drink it." Belene handed me a glass of water and I accepted it with trembling hands. We had arrived at her house a few moments ago and she was trying her best to calm me down. "I am sure that all of this is just a big misunderstanding." she coaxed softly. "Everything will be fixed soon," she added. I raised my head from where I had shoved it into my palms and locked eyes with Belene. "I could lose my license Belene. My entire life's work was thrown down the drain. Nothing. Nothing will ever be the same." I retorted and got up from the seat. I breathed and felt tears sting my eyes all over again. I felt stupid. How could I have ever thought that he would trust me and choose me over his father? It wasn't him that had the misunderstanding. I was under the misconception that someone like Alexander Moore could trust me. Christine's disappearance made no sense too. She was so happy when I left, we had even made plans. She was so excited about the trip. When she had called with th

42- I HAVE NOTHING TO LOSE
"I don't know what you are thinking, but I know it is a bad idea." Belene deadpanned and I rolled my eyes at her pessimism. "You don't have to crack your head too much. I am going to break the contract and reveal the truth to everyone, I won't lose my career because of Moore and his misunderstandings. I am not Louisa." I explained sharply and Belene's eyes widened in horror. "No, no. No!" She rushed out. "Before you do this, at least think about Christine, she brought you to help her brother, she will be broken if she finds out the truth and his mother. What about Madame Amelia? She will be devastated. She's like a mother to you, right?" Belene rushed out in one breath. "He didn't think about them when he released those photos so why should I think about them? Besides, he already has plans of his own. I do not fit into this picture Belene." I explained sharply. "No!" Belene protested. "Both of you are hurt right now and that's why you are making so many bad decisions! Two wrongs w

43- DIZZY SPELLS?
"Amber, I just think that—" Belene began, but stopped the moment she saw my glare. I walked past her to take a shower and prepare myself for the storm that was about to take place, the last thing I wanted was to be caught unaware. "Let's at least think about this—" She tried again and that was the moment I snapped. "Whose friend are you?" I spat and raised an eyebrow at her. Since the entire situation began, she had done nothing but support Alex. It was almost like she was his best friend and I was just a nobody to her. "Do you think I deserve everything that has happened, Belene?" I asked in a sharp tone and she shook her head with tear-filled eyes. Although it seemed like I had myself prepared and I knew exactly what I wanted to do; I had no clue. I was just fueled by the anger and frustration that Alexander had put me through. Deep down, even I refused to believe that he would go this far. It would have been one thing if my real name was not written boldly on the document, but

44- I WON’T FORGIVE YOU
I tugged at the scarf that Belene had given me before I entered the hospital. Her contact informed us about the blueprint of the hospital. I found it hard to believe that the man knew so much and for a moment, it felt like I was in some action movie. I casually strolled down the hall and towards where I hoped the restroom of the hospital would be, my face was covered so no one could identify me. A group of doctors raced past me and I sighed. I hated hospitals. The thick smell of antiseptic. The depressing atmosphere and the fact that I usually never left the same way I walked in. The sound of groaning filled my ears and I froze. I glanced around but it was just me in the empty hallway. The edges of my lips curled downwards and sighed. I was probably just hearing things due to stress. I took a few steps through and the sound continued. It sounded like struggling. I decided to follow the sound even though it was situations like these always landed me in trouble with Alexander. My ey

45- I TOLD THEM THE TRUTH?
I brushed past Moore and briskly walked down the hall. I bopped heads with someone and stumbled back a bit. I frowned when my eyes locked with brown orbs and long dark hair."What are you doing here?" Marissa spat and glared daggers into my skin."How's that your business?" I shot back and matched her gaze. She was dressed in another skin-tight gown and had her hair loose. It was obvious she didn't care about Christine, she was just there to get her final shot at what would end as a pathetic relationship with Alexander."I could get you arrested right now." She threatened and sucked in a sharp breath. "For what?" I snorted. "Crashing your little party?" I responded in a sarcastic tone. "You just broke a restraining order by being here. So I suggest you leave. Get out of this place and out of our lives! I mean, you have no shame!" She spat and eyed me down. "Am I getting a lecture from My husband's mistress?" I scoffed. "I have to say. you had me there for a minute." I deadpanned an

46- WE CAN’T LET THEM WIN
I banged my head on the bathroom wall. The water that was hitting my skin washed away the years that filled my green orbs. My eyes had dark circles under them and I felt my legs go numb under the cold water. We arrived at Belene's house two hours ago. She was still upset about my actions but I just wish she could understand that I was tired. I stared into the mirror myself and I didn't like the version of myself that I saw.It felt like something inside of me had broken. The Amber in front of me was not the same person who had fought the entire world to chase her career. She was not the same woman who knew exactly what she wanted. A disheveled twenty-five-year-old stared back at me and she looked a lot like the sixteen-year-old who was crushed by her father's death and brother's demise. I wrapped my arms around my stomach and slid down the bathroom wall. I shut my eyes and allowed myself to feel the pain that was spreading all over my body. It felt like my heart was going to explod

47- TRUST ISSUES AND CONSPIRACIES
The atmosphere in the airport had suddenly gotten stale. My eyes filled with tears and I clutched my luggage with my trembling fingers. I wasn't sure why I was so upset about the situation. Maybe was because once again; I felt like I being an obligated and forced to do and be around people who had just hurt me. "I am not part of that family." I deadpanned and a tear rolled down my cheek because it was true. I had gotten carried away. I thought that sharing bonds with people made you family. But I was a fool and I was by the affection that was not even there. I fell in love with the job and now, I was suffering for my mistakes. "Christine is not to blame for the issues you have with Alex though," Lucia said and my face contorted in pain. "I am not going back there! I am not going—going back to a place where I was hurt and treated like crap!" I shot at her. "That family took everything away from me," I informed her and paused. "I didn't even have much, to begin with! So don't you c

48- THIS CAN’T BE TRUE...
“How are they involved in this?” I asked in a calm tone. Lucia was being too vague about everything. She sighed and took a step closer to me. “Marissa was the one who released those photos to the press—”“How did Marissa get those photos, though?” I asked and Lucia was taken aback by my work. Her eyes stared at me with confusion, it was almost as if she had not expected me to ask the obvious question. She licked her lips and sighed again. “From Alexander,” she announced in a dejected tone. “Alexander,” I repeated. “Why should I support someone willing to do that to his fiance who died a year ago? He put her in that situation. It doesn’t matter that I am not Louisa or Marissa is a piece of crap.” I paused and glanced away to control my emotions.“You know what matters?” My voice was low, but it still held as much authority as it had when we began the conversation. “That Alexander Moore would stoop low enough to hand Louisa’s sensitive photos to her worst enemy.” “Amber, Alex trusts

49- DO WE HAVE A PLAN?
“I need you to trust me.” Lucia was pleased when we arrived home. I heard the door close behind me and I turned my attention to the pepper-mint-haired lady in front of me. I sighed. “That story is sad. But it does not justify anything he did to me.” I clarified and walked over to Belene’s mini bar. I sat down on a stool and poured myself a shot of vodka. I could feel Lucia’s eyes on me, yet she did not comment. I swallowed a shot and grimaced “None of this even makes sense anymore,” I confessed. “All I want to do is get out of here and stuff my life far away from this drama” I informed her and downed another glass of vodka. I sighed and walked over to the couch. “I know. But I have a better offer for you. I have a good reason for you to aside the fact that you love Alex.” I wanted to interrupt her and remind her that I did not care about Alexander, but Belene sat down beside us before I could speak. “I have enough evidence,” Lucia said and pulled a file out of nowhere, “To prove t

50- KILL ME?
I could not believe it was happening till I was standing at the doors of the Moore Mansion. I licked my lips nervously and glanced at Lucia who seemed calm and collected. Her peppermint hair was tied into a ponytail and she looked elegant in the blue jumpsuit she was wearing. I decided to scrap the fashion statement and just go with a simple black dress."Are you sure this is going to work?" I asked her for the millionth time, she had arrived at my house several hours ago to hand me the documents with Alexander's signature. I was surprised that she had managed to do it in a short period. It was clear that Lucia was desperate but I had a nagging feeling at the back of my mind that it wasn't just about Alexander. Before I could explore this feeling as I had done throughout last night, the doors opened and I raised an eyebrow at the sight that was in front of me. Clad in a short robe and with her hair draped over her shoulders, Marissa glared at me with all the animosity in the world.
