Chapter Twenty

Cindy and I huddled together, partly for warmth and partly for comfort.  The nights were cooling down as fall approached us and neither of us were dressed for it.  Vampires felt the cold and the heat far less than humans.  Out of all of the supernatural creatures, a fairy’s constitution most resembled the constitution of a human.  Therefore, I suffered the coolness of the pre-autumn night far more than my companion.

“How do you think Kenton’s army is faring against the wolves?” I asked through chattering teeth.

“I can’t think about it,” Cindy replied. “I want to say that they’re able to hold their own, but there were so many werewolves outside of your house.  I just don’t know.  I haven’t been a vampire long enough to really understand what they’re capable of.   The wolves will change back when the sun comes up, but they’ll still have the power of the m
