Chapter 4

Addison stopped at the traffic light. She wasn't really allowed to be driving and she knew that if Daniel found out he'd be pissed. But, she wasn't comfortable having to always call the driver to take her to the company so that she could see Emily today so she was driving herself home.

The light turned green. She had barely mastered the roads and turns of this city and was finding it quite difficult to navigate around. She was about to make a turn when a car sped past her, startling her. Suddenly, she felt a sharp pain in her head and saw herself in a car crashing into another, she saw the glass shattering and felt the vivid impact of the collision.

Suddenly it disappeared and she was back on the road, she hurriedly parked her car at the side of the road, feeling overwhelmed.

'What was that? Could it be a flashback?' She thought.

Knock knock knock

Addison opened the door to her bedroom. It was Daniel.

"Were you asleep?" He asked quietly, as though he were sneaking around. She smiled.

"No" she returned in his tone.

"Would you like to join me tonight?" He asked, smiling as innocently as a child would.

She laughed quietly "Why are you speaking like that?"

"I don't know" he replied, still smiling as he held her hand in his.

"Yes, I would like that," she replied and they made their way to his bedroom.

"Did you miss me today?" She asked as they lay on the bed.

"Yea" he looked at her dreamily.

"Stop looking at me like that, would you?"

"No," he smiled.

"Can I make a silly confession?" She asked.

"Yes"

"I hate having dinner without you there, it feels lonely." She complained. "And I hate having you gone the whole day only to get back when I'm already asleep."

He was quiet for a while before he responded. "You've really changed a lot, Amelia" he was still smiling. "You used to rejoice in my absence"

Addison laughed, "really?"

"Yea… it's weird now." He answered "Not just that, you're like a totally different person. Everyone at work says so too"

"Like a better person?" She asked, already knowing the answer. He nodded as his ridiculous smile grew bigger.

"You're also a totally different person than you are at work" she added and he laughed.

"I'll start leaving work earlier" he abruptly said "At least before dinner time"

Her eyes gleamed for joy. "Thank you" she said, beaming.

"Oh yes, that's right!" She interjected, "Have I ever been in a car crash before?"

"No. Why?" Daniel answered, confused.

"Nevermind"

'That means it wasn't a flashback after all' 'So what was it then?' she thought.

* * *

"Do you know where my husband is?" Addison asked James, she had met him at the office but Daniel wasn't around.

"He left the office with some of the board members, they're at the other departments supervising activities" he stated in one breath.

"Alright. I'll just take a mini tour then." she said and gave him the eye when he tried standing up to accompany her.

She pressed the open button of the elevator and the doors opened to reveal a tall blonde in a swimsuit.

She smiled brightly as she saw him.

"Wowwww!" He exclaimed in surprise. "What a pleasant surprise!"

"I know right" she said as she got in.

"How come you're always alone?"

"I like moving alone"

"Isn't your husband scared that someone's gonna harm you or something?"

"Something like what?"

"Like snatch you away from him" he looked at her and she laughed.

"You're an idiot"

"And you're weird now"

"What do you mean?"

"You were always isolated before, what changed?"

"Really?"

"You would always act like all the other workers were beneath you and they said you hated coming to the company" he added.

"I did?"

"Yea"

"Well I lost my memory, so…"

"That doesn't affect one's attitude though"

"...well, I guess so"

The elevator got to the 8th floor.

"My stop." She said.

"Same" he said as they walked out together. Suddenly someone rushed past her causing her to stumble and fall to the floor.

"I'm so sorry" the lady apologized.

That sharp pain in her head was back, she winced in pain and opened her eyes to see herself being pushed to the ground. She could feel the sand against her palms even.

"I'll make sure you pay for everything you've done to my family, Addison" she heard the angry voice of a lady. The image flashed through her head, the raven-black hair, the emerald-green eyes, the smug smile. Emily!!

"Hey, are you alright?" Jared asked as he held her.

The image disappeared suddenly and she was met with the worried gaze of a blue eyed blonde. "I'm fine," she replied, panting.

"Are you sure?"

She wasn't, what on earth was that?

It wasn't a hallucination as she had thought, it was a vivid flashback. She was terrified.

"Jared" she looked at him "I think I should get going now". She didn't let him reply before she turned and went back into the elevator.

Addison had a lot of questions. Her thoughts were running wild.

'Why did she remember Emily?'

'Was she referring to her as Addison?'

'How about the car crash? Was that a flashback also?'

While they were seated for dinner, she asked Daniel:

"Do you know…of any Addison?"

"Addison?" He repeated.

"Yes…Addison" she confirmed, her voice slightly shaky. She was still very much terrible and uncontrollably eager to find out what was going on in her head.

"No" he shook his head. "I've never heard of an Addison, why do you ask?"

"It's nothing important" she lied.

"It doesn't seem so," he said, frowning in worry.

She faked a smile. "It's nothing really, if it was you'd know"

"You seem…troubled tonight"

"I'm not troubled, it's just…cramps" she lied.

"Oh…" he started.

"I'd like to sleep in my bedroom tonight, is that okay with you?" She interrupted.

"Y…yea"

She needed to be alone tonight. Her own mind was driving her crazy. She needed to recollect her memories tonight.

She sat upright in her room with her eyes closed for hours that night. Picturing and focusing strictly on everything she had managed to recall from her past. The environment, the scent, the feeling,...the misery.

The first thing she could recall was the misery, she felt it pierce into her heart like a dagger for minutes before the pictures aligned.

"Addison"

"Addison"

"Addison"

She had continued to hear. She felt the warm tears streaming down her eyes like a river but she held her eyes shut. She recalled her childhood, her struggle, her relationships, her pain, her joys, her misery. She remembered everything.

Once she had opened her eyes, she found herself on the marble floor, her face was drenched in tears.

'Who the hell was she? And how did she end up here?'
