Final Chapter

I swallowed twice and turned back to face them. I stared at Jason’s parents. Marde’s parents. Kain’s parents.

They’d visited so many times during the months, and they’d asked forgiveness many times. The mothers cried often, and the fathers always looked regretful. I’d repeatedly told them the same thing: “It wasn’t their fault what happened. There is nothing to forgive because the sins weren’t theirs.
