My breath seized in my throat as I looked up, but it escaped in a deep sigh of relief when I saw Aunt Mariah.

“Who do we have here? So you finally decided to come and see us, huh?” she asked with a smile, closing the door behind her. As always, her sense of fashion made me laugh.

Aunt dressed well, but she wears too many colorful things at once. Red sandals. Yellow blouse. Pink skirt. Purple and blue hair ribbons. Orange bag. The colors never matched, but somehow she managed to look quite beautiful in them. It never got old, really.

“What's funny?” she asked with a pout as she walked closer.

I shook my head. “Absolutely nothing. You look good, Aunty. I'm sorry I haven't been able to visit. I've been so busy.”

She waved me off with a smile. “Don't worry your pretty head. We get by.”

“How have you two been?”

“Have you seen our boy, Santos? Have you two met since he came back?” She sat beside her husband.

Oh, Aunty. You have no idea.
