The Final Battle

Screams and yells coming from the crowd echoed in my ear as I wear my armor and prepare myself from the final battle... They were screaming my name in cheer. I stood from my seat and faced the mirror. A grin curved onto my lips on the realization that I'm about to be the strongest being on Dexo Fernia – and soon be crowned as their queen.

Holding my double-bladed swallow on my left hand, I walked through the only barrier keeping me locked outside the coliseum. Emotionless I waited for it to be removed out of my sight and the cheers grew louder every second. And as the wood barrier was slowly removed, those cheers just grew even louder.

"VERONICA! GO VERONICA! GO VERONICA!!"

I held my head high when I was called. "Let's give it up... to the Herald of Dexo Fernia, the shadow assassin! The daughter of Hikaris himself… VERONICA!"

Chest out, shoulders back, I walked out of the dark and turned my gaze to every corner of the coliseum, and with a devilish grin on my lips, I raised my weapon and they screamed my name… just how I want them to.

"And her challenger..." the announcer paused for a while, I crossed my arms and everyone went silent, patiently waiting until, "another daughter of Hikaris, the Mistress of Dexo Fernia, Elspeth!"

My eyes narrowed in disbelief, it can't be. Elspeth shouldn't be here, her time in this battlefield is over. I gritted my teeth when I saw her walked out with a devilish grin on her lips. All she's here about is to embarrass me. Not going to happen today.

Both our names were yelled, cheering for two of us, as we patiently wait for the signal for the duel to begin. I turned my swallow back and forth, my eyes settled onto my prey— Elspeth Vane, my older sister.

"You ready, Roni!?" She yelled at me and laughed devilishly.

"Always have been, Elly, but..." The bell rang, the fight now began. I dashed right in front of her and attacked her with the handle of my swallow at her shoulder pushing her back, "are you?"

We remained eye contact to each other, until she took the first move. She took a quick flip and was about to attack me with her scythe when I blocked her attack. "Is that all you got?"

I took a leap and attacked her twice, quick enough she was able to block and dodge. "I think you're getting old for this." With a fast turn I hit her right on her weapon forcing her to let go and kicked her on her shoulder.

The crowd went wild seeing her fall down. I let out a chuckle and smiled at her, "What was that? My older challenges were harder." I positioned myself once again and continued on attacking her.

"That was just the warm up." She blocked my attack and tackled to the side of the stadium. She stood up and raised her hand... suddenly a barrier was created keeping the two of us inside the dome, a spell was casted. This isn't part of the battle, use of any magic is not allowed.

This isn't the last challenge, this is revenge! Revenge for I will become the Queen, and her!? She will always be second best!

"Let's see what you really got." Elspeth flicked her finger which blew me away with strong gust of wind. My back hit the stone wall hard.

"What the Fernian are you doing? This isn't a match isn't it!?" I stood up and grip my swallow tight.

"You got it sissy. I just want to play for a while, don't you get it." Her eyes started glowing and without knowing, she disappeared and attacked me behind my back, my side, even above me.

I found myself lying on the ground, my armor ruined, the people outside watching us was still cheering. Typical Demons, they all want nothing but pleasure, so boring. I stood up, gritting my teeth, my hands clenched.

I raised my hands, eyes wide opened. My armor disintegrated and I replaced it with an armor of my own: a dress like armor with its own crown. Elspeth was high above me, flying with a grin.

My eyebrows narrowed as I flew right in front of her, "so, who sent you?"

"No questions today. Let's fight." She quickly grabbed both my arms and tried pushing me to the ground. I pushed her back until she hits the wall above us.

"You have no match against me." I turned her below me, facing the ground and pushed her until her back feels the impact of my attack.

Dust covered the whole place, I moved back to find my weapon in the middle of the fog. The moment I had my hands on my swallow, a devilish voice echoed the whole place, "is that all you got?"

The fog froze in the air and Elspeth used a duplication spell, turning herself into numbers of illusions. I stood on the corner of the coliseum surrounded by her. The look in her eyes, were the same look when I first beat her up right in front of our father.  She deserved it though.

"Finally..." I saw how ready Elspeth was to attack me. "I can finally have the revenge I have always wanted. You have always been the top between the two of us, now I get to prove whose better, who is stronger, smarter, dominant, and dangerous. And I—" She attacked me with a strong energy beam coming from each of her duplicates. "I deserve the throne. I should be the queen!" The barrier then disappeared and, cheers coming from everyone was once again heard. They were all screaming Elspeth's name.

Silently I stood up from where she attacked me. She has no knowledge that I blocked her attack. I sighed and removed the waterfall braids onto my hair before I break their fun. "Silence!" I screamed loud, and with one word, what I wanted was then granted. Pure silence covered the place as I ascend, glowing because of my aura.

I held my head high and turned my gaze to the demons around me. With a glare, one by one they went down onto their knees. "I am Veronica Vane. I am your one and only true Queen and Herald. No impostor can bring me down to the ground."

I flew in front of Elspeth and whispered to her ear, "Even you, Elspeth… don’t have the capability to overpower me."
